A bit of battered old house, somewhat dressed up as a hotel. Sauna is ok, Spa is cool and forgettable. Staff is generally helpful and the food was good. It's a clean, dry, place to sleep, with good food. read more

HARRY POTTER FANS, listen up: This hotel is WALKING DISTANCE from the Harry Potter Bridge here in Glenfinnan. You know the one. FLying car, chamber of secrets, Hogwarts express? Yeah, that's right!! NOT ONLY THAT, but it is right on Lock Shiel which, in addition to being absolutely stunning, is the lake that Hogwarts is on. Compare pictures to this lake to photos from the second task(mermaids) from Goblet of Fire....you will SCREAM! Enough about Harry Potter. This hotel is quaint, homey, and incredibly warm and lively. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure that your needs and desires are met. From the included breakfast every morning to the offering of packed lunches for your daily hikes the team here is a cut above the rest. The rooms are large with beautifully updated, modern washrooms and showers. The tea kettles and assortment of coffee and teas(in room) are brilliant and the perfect touch. The main dining area/restaurant is delicious with terrific daily specials. The bar area/casual dining area is just as great and features traditional, Scottish, live music some nights. This place will remain at the TOP of my list not only for myself but for recommendations to anyone that may ask. Thank you to the brilliant team behind this beautiful hotel.

When we brought the issue up to management, their answer was "It is an old hotel and the rooms are assigned at the time of booking and it is the luck of the draw. REALLY!!!! The larger room had 3 large windows whereas the smaller room had a single 14" window. Be careful when booking this hotel. Lots of stairs and the room is "The luck of the draw!"

The staff is accommodating-the room was nice (no view though) and clean. However, the place was understaffed. When visiting their dining room, it was a frantic mess. Not enough wait staff to care for everyone. Long waits to get service, even with a reservation. The food was ok but not worth the high prices. I had the Sea Bass and it was overcooked and dry. When speaking with the staff, they shared their frustration with not being able to give good service due to being understaffed. The hotel manager was serving?! Again, not many choices in the area so you are kind of forced to eat/stay there. Overall we were happy with our stay.

Our room was large and comfortable with a great view of the harbour. The restaurant serves a classic Scottish breakfast, and the dinners (menu changes daily: we stayed 3 nights) showcase the local seafood and meat. The food was very good. It is not cheap, but good value for money if you want to push the boat out a bit for a special break away.

We planned to stay nearby in Glencoe and looked for a restaurant. The internet had little advice to offer but this restaurant came up multiple times with glowing reviews. Silly Goose is located in the Lime Tree Inn and it's pure perfection! We were greeted kindly and welcomed into the cozy dining space. Spacious but very romantic. We started with drinks enjoying local gin and whiskey. My husband got to try the Sassenach that he'd been eyeing! For dinner, we got the ribeye and chicken. We were so impressed with how well these were cooked. So soft and moist! We were too full for dessert but they had a nice menu of options. The restaurant is spectacular and worth the visit if you are in the area. Be sure to make a reservation as they did have to turn folks away!

I have had way worster experiences and I feel like these reviews are more for the hotel itself rather than just the restaurant itself so I do want to be somewhat fair. With all that being said... I can't confidently recommend the restaurant here. The Caesar salad was literally the only thing that was somewhat edible. I had been in Scotland for almost a week at this point and it was also the first time that I had ever been charged for water. That was something I kinda wished they would have mentioned to us if they were going to do that. That's not cool man. It really comes off as shady. For food I ordered the Seafood Risotto and there was practically no flavor. When I asked my friends how they felt about their dishes, it was unanimous around the table. Maybe the chef just quit the night before and they were trying to make do with what they have and know? It's just weird right? You see the pictures and see how cool The Inch looks inside and out and just figure if they have a restaurant that it's going to have at least "some" form of quality to the food. But there was none to be found unfortunately and you are left just feeling like this place is a tourist trap. So yea can't recommend the food here. Then again it is a small area. Maybe that's just all the people know? It'd be really sad if that was actually the case. My only hope is that the staying there for the night is an actual 5 star experience.

My family and I had been making an extreme road trip around Scotland and were stopping in Creag Mohr. This was a relatively short drive up the road and well worth it! You may sit indoors or outdoors. The indoor seating could have been in a number of beautifully decorated rooms that were reminiscent of old libraries and afternoon parlors. The outside garden seating overlooked the beautiful Port Appin and was close to Castle Stalker. (Get your cameras ready!) The food itself was really only ok as far as I was concerned. It was a lot of food and quite heavy. One of my road trippers got a little sick (not sure if it was a combination of driving, fatigue, and food). Still, the rest of us enjoyed the fresh air, the gorgeous grounds, and the respite that was offered. I would caution my possibly obese or handicapped fellow Americans here in that the bathrooms were upstairs. It might take significant effort to make your way up there, and there is only one stall for both genders to share, as I recall.
