Virtually every other branch in the system is exemplary. Im just wondering why they are so passive aggressive and punitive to the few patrons that they do have. It canWest Mobile, Saraland, Springhill, Downtown, even Toulmenville ... all have a staff of welcoming and helpful employees. Who understand the purpose of a library in the community, and strive to serve their patrons and assist as needed, happily. It cant be that Semmes is upscale, they are country and not in a high income area, unlike other local libraries here. So what is the issue?

You will find it also extremely spacious, clean and very pleasant. And comfy! There are many little places to sit down, rest and enjoy current periodicals and a pretty awesome selection of books. The computer area is also large. There is an upper floor with tables for reading or even playing cards with friends. The staff is amazing. Gee, just the 100% guarantee of a friendly face and big smile. To top it off, just a few steps away is a lovely deck overlooking the pond and fountain. I think most of Baldwin County library cards are accepted. It doesn't matter - just take some time to drop in and see the beautiful building.

The lady helping me was very personable and very efficient. I recommend everyone to make an appointment online to avoid a long wait or pay the extra dollar and mail the renewal in. What a fun time at the annual Christmas Potluck lunch for the senior citizens of the city of…read moreSpanish Fort. Tables were decorated by the various groups that meet at the center with Christmas Carol themes. Our Mahjong group chose "O Christmas Tree" for the two tables we decorated. Everyone attending brought a side dish or a dessert and 2 businesses furnished the entrees of ham and fried chicken. Music was provided by Greg Normand and Terry Youngblood. Christmas carols were played and even a sing along by the group of attendees. Door prizes were provided by Spanish Fort Businesses. Heather Allen, Spanish Fort Activity Director, did an amazing job of organizing this event. Thank you City of Spanish Fort for hosting this event.

Kitchen space is large. It's connected to the Spanish Fort Library. There is also a beautiful pond in the back with a nice deck/board walk and fountains. I was given a number and took a seat to wait my turn. I waited less than 10 minutes before my number was called. The lady at the window was very nice, even when one of the papers I needed to register the vehicle was not in the envelope sent from the dealership. Instead of telling me to get it and come back, which is what I expected, she took it upon herself to go call the dealership and talk to someone and have them fax her what she needed. Since I had expressed an interest in wanting a personalized tag, she gave me the binder with all the specialty tags to look at and decide on one while I waited for the missing paper to be faxed over. Unfortunately, the dealership was very busy and couldn't get to it before I had to leave to pick up my kids from school, so I got my papers back and told her I'd come back on my next off day, which was today. Today, my wait time was again under 10 minutes. The gentleman at the window was very nice and got me taken care of quickly. He got me all set up with my personalized tag, and gave me a temporary tag to use in the meantime until the metal tag came in the mail. Overall, excellent experience both days. Not sure why people dread the DMV. I don't mind it a bit.
