I've had many opportunities to see Ben's work on theatrical productions, for headshots and even a wedding I helped coordinate. Most recently Ben took some amazing pictures for my son's first birthday. At the wedding I worked on, Ben was a very calming presence, unlike some wedding photographers I've seen. Ben didn't just take AMAZING pictures, touch them up so that every detail was just right, and deliver them to us, COPYRIGHT-FREE, on a CD ROM so that we could share them instantly with family and friends via email across the world, for no additional charge. No, Ben also helped organize our wedding flow (after all, he's done countless weddings already!) so that we could get the best pictures in the shortest amount of time, which left us free to enjoy our wedding! Ben Krantz is amazing! My husband and I hired Ben to shoot our Wedding (which took place this past September). We also had him do our engagement photos. I had seen much of Ben's work before we even went to sit down and book him, and have always been impressed with how well he captures the personalities of the people that he is photographing. We shot our engagement photos in December and when the day of the shoot came it was pouring down rain. We had hoped for an outside shoot, but I was a little nervous walking around and taking pictures in the rain. Ben encouraged us to go with it, and see what we could come up with. I am so glad that we listened to him...our engagement photos were AMAZING. He was fun, professional, and encouraging ( even when I started to get a little grumpy in the rain). He caught so many good moments that we had a hard time narrowing down the photos that we wanted to actually take home with us. In our consultation the week before our wedding he sat down with us and let us lay out all of the 'must have' shots, took down all family members names that were going to be in our photos, and basically told us to relax and have fun and that he would take care of the rest. On the day of the wedding he was professional, easy to work with, and super super organized. He called everyone by name, and was very personable...even with my three young nephews who were running in and out of his shots, hahaha! Ben was great. I hate having my photo taken but needed some shots for a new job. He was overwhelmingly positive, made it as painless as possible and took a bunch of great shots. I'm hard to photograph. I have a hard time looking natural and a hard time getting a good smile for the camera. Ben is great. He has several techniques to get you to relax and stop thinking about the photos. He "unlocks" photo poses so you look "caught" in a moment. Our shoot was both indoors and out and his eye for lighting and framing are excellent. He took about 600 pictures in less than two hours. Many many came really really good. I've just received back headshots of my daughter that she needed for college admissions auditions. Ben did a wonderful job. The pictures are beautiful! My partner and I met Ben in Oakland for a half-day shot with really no direction except that we wanted, "a nice photo." Ben did not miss a beat - he talked to us before and in a short interaction understood our needs even though, again, we really were directionless. We walked around Oakland and Ben did his thing - keeping everything fun, light hearted and really easy-going. It helps that Ben is such an easy guy to spend a few hours with, however; Ben is really very talented when it comes to understanding his clients, getting not just 'the' shot but a many good shots, and using very gentle touch-up to make these photos come to life! As excited as I was to maybe get a new hairline, Ben kept it looking like me - which is a good thing. Of special note we took our photos very close to the holidays - within a week as I recall. We choose several shots - and you will too when you see Ben's work - with the favor of having at least one photo that we could send to out familes before Christmas. This was a such a tall order. However, Ben not only got us one shot - he completed all the final photos all within just a few days. This was really an above-and-beyond effort on Ben's part.
