When I contacted electricians to quote an EV Charger install, Ben was the ONLY person out of a dozen to also ask what my near-future electrical needs were. He upgraded my main service panel for a future Solar install plus the EV charger - and the total cost was only a bit more than other quotes for just the EV charger that added splitters, load management systems, etc. that I would have had to rip out down the road anyway for Solar. This is the first time I requested a contractor quote on yelp, and have to say I was quite suprised about the amount of responses I received. Ben was one of the first to respond, and the most clear and efficiant when sending me questions and answers based on the pics I had sent him. Very happy with the service Ben provided and work was done and priced as provide on the quote. He came on a cold day to our house in truckee and instaled an EV charger plus an interlock kit with a generator inlet plug. Ben did a great job for me! Long story short: I've been having major electrical and HVAC issues for the past two months. I needed to upgrade the wiring for our A/C unit. The old aluminum wiring just wasn't cutting it anymore. I got a couple quotes before I reached out to Ben via Yelp. He came by and inspected the A/C unit and explained exactly what he needed to do to get all wiring up to code. I also wanted three LED shop lights installed in the garage. I was tired of replacing tubes and ballasts. He quoted me a fair price and scheduled the job a couple weeks out (family vacation). He showed up a few minutes late BUT he had let me know that he was running a little late. No issue there! Ben showed up and did a great job rewiring and installing the lights. When we returned home from vacation to find we had this weird "partial power" thing going on--some lights dim; others not working at all; no oven--we sought help, contacting two electricians who were highly rated on Yelp. Ben was the first to respond, and came quickly. PG&E has assessed the problem and gave us a temporary, partial fix, then Ben stepped in. He coordinated the required work--replacing our 200 amp panel--with PG&E, gave us a reasonable quote, and scheduled a date for the work. He kept us in the loop the entire time, and let us know with plenty of advance notice when our power would be off. He arrived early on the day of the repair and took care of everything efficiently. I highly recommend Benjamin's services. He was a life-saver when we woke up Saturday morning to "half-power" at our home. Very unusual issue with some lights working but others not, while all the breakers looked fine, but he was familiar with it. He arrived within 30 minutes to begin trouble-shooting, and quickly identified the issue. We ultimately needed a new exterior panel at PG&E's recommendation. He had the part, worked hand-in-glove with PG&E to safely install it for us, and got us fully-repaired the same day (and on a Saturday)! He was a great communicator throughout as well. I was doing some work in my backyard shed and turned on a miter saw to cut some wood. Unfortunately, powering up the miter saw tripped a breaker on my electrical panel. No big deal EXCEPT the breaker wouldn't reset and half of my house was now dark while the other half still had juice. Tried everything I could think of to fix the issue but couldn't figure it out. Wife was not impressed... Sent out a request for electrical work on Yelp. Mind you this was a Monday night around 9:45pm. Got a response from Benjamin via Yelp in approximately 10 minutes. In the response Benjamin offered to come right over to troubleshoot the issue but he also offered to walk me through a few things over the phone. Called up Benjamin who talked me through a few troubleshooting steps but none of those actions fixed what ailed my home's electrical. No worries, Benjamin said he could be out at my house the next morning by 10am. Next morning, my wife and kids left the house to find some more comfortable environs to shelter-in-place while I was tasked with figuring out what the heck was going on. Thankfully, Benjamin showed up promptly and was quickly able to determine that only one of our two power lines from PG&E's pole was delivering the proper 120 volts to our main panel. Benjamin then helped me connect with PG&E who would have to fix their lines to restore power to the house. Benjamin made sure that the PG&E folks knew exactly what was going on and that I was in good hands before heading out. It took about 4 PG&E guys to determine what was needed and ultimately to repair the lines to my house but by 2pm power was fully restored. I was happy to pay Benjamin's one hour fee for all of the support and information he provided even though he wasn't ultimately able to resolve the issue himself. Friendly, honest, punctual and respectful. Just what we needed. Thanks Benjamin! read more
