needs less tourist crap and more craft supplies. even then, the stuff is ridiculously marked up when compared to other gift/craft stores. once spent about $70 on acrylic craft paint that anywhere else would be around $20-$40-ish, it was the basic cheap brand too. the old owners were very nice and always made you feel welcome but now the new lady appears to have an attitude problem and the other workers seem utterly miserable. as stated before, the new owner seems to have spent all of the budget on renovation/decor, which in my opinion looks far too fancy/trendy to be in the upper freaking peninsula of michigan and less quaint/homey as the original did and now looks like a tacky ski lodge, as well as equally tacky (and pricey!) souvenirs. sure, they're great for tourists but they're very obnoxious to those who actually have to live here. do tourists/fibs even go to crystal falls? probably not. also the last time I went there and looked in the toy section there was a pretty cheap looking bow and arrow set which was meant to mimic american indian ones? it featured an illustration of a native american man in a loincloth and warpaint and I believe even said "savage" or something like that. it made me very uncomfortable.
anyway, if you're ever in town and are in desperate need of overpriced souvenir/craft goods, it's fine. read more
