Dianna Pharr has been an absolutely amazing advocate for our entire family over the last 3.5 years…read more(and counting). It is no exaggeration to say that her guidance, assistance, & advocacy have been nothing short of life-changing! I would give her advocacy services ten stars if I could! We are a family with four children, ranging in age from preschool to high school. All four of our children have multiple chronic illnesses or disabilities, from the common to the incredibly rare. Adding to the complexity, three of our children are also gifted, making them "twice exceptional" - and also making the task of attaining help for them exponentially harder. When Dianna first began to help us, only one of our four children was even receiving Special Education or 504 services. Accommodations for that one child were woefully inadequate, and our attempts to qualify the others for ANY help whatsoever had all hit a brick wall. I'd naively assumed that my diligent efforts to volunteer & to "work within the system" would get our children all the help they needed - & that my own knowledge as a law tutor would keep our family from being taken advantage of. But my efforts were getting us nowhere. Once Dianna began to review our children's situations, it immediately became clear that our School District was not fulfilling its moral or statutory obligations. She helped me to gather & review records; instructed me in how to create a paper trail of goodwill & good faith efforts; & encouraged me to find my voice. She has patiently led me on an intensive crash course on both the broad strokes & the intricacies of Special Education law. Once-foreign acronyms & concepts like IDEA, FAPE, FERPA, IEE, ESY, FBA, BIP, OCR, Homebound, & Related Services now roll off my tongue. With Dianna's help, we have navigated the fraught Child Find process. Despite the School District's repeated rejections for services when *I* had sought help on my own, now that Dianna is assisting us, all four children are fully qualified for Special Education services. No parent wants to "fight" their school district - just as no parent wants to "fight" to prove that their child rightfully requires Special Education services. But sometimes it's our job to take up that fight, because it's what our children desperately need & deserve in order to flourish within the educational setting. It's hard to admit that - however patient & well-intentioned we are in dealing with the schools we love - our children nevertheless cannot get the education they need without these modifications & accommodations. It's hard to admit that we can't always trust that our School Districts will act in our children's best interests. We'd all like to believe that we can navigate these negotiations on our own, using goodwill & persistence. But more often than not, once we've run into delays & denials, we need a knowledgeable & experienced professional to help us. Dianna has BEEN that expert voice for our family. She has tirelessly participated in countless ARDs, phone conferences, physician consultations, 504 meetings, & informal prep sessions. When we needed an attorney, she connected us with an amazing education lawyer & even came along - all while continuing to monitor our situation & educate us further SO THAT WE CAN HELP OURSELVES. She has loved and fought for our children as though they were her own. Dianna has ferociously supported our family at every turn. When we have come to her overwhelmed, frustrated, discouraged, or afraid, she has listened carefully - & then doubled her efforts to champion our cause. When our situation within our School District deteriorated, she has helped us weigh whether to request mediation or file due process. She has even guided us in filing formal grievances with the Texas Education Agency and the US Department of Education - and she has offered testimony to support us in those proce. At every step of the way, Dianna has stood with us, shoulder-to-shoulder, as we have navigated an incredibly difficult journey. Her knowledge is so vast that I still find myself looking to her for advice, even though she has ALWAYS worked her hardest to create self-confidence and the personal knowledge to conduct these meetings on our own. Dianna has been beyond generous with her time & her passion. She is absolutely brilliant at understanding education law - but her advocacy actually springs from a deep devotion to helping children and families. She most definitely isn't advocating for money or for glory - she's in it because it is her calling to HELP children and families. We honestly can't imagine where our children or our family would be without her. Update: Since I first wrote this review, Dianna has helped us to achieve full Special Education eligibility & appropriate services for ALL FOUR of our children. We are beyond grateful!

Also, I have not felt like a number but find every question I have gets answered no matter how mundane. When you have a personality conflict with anyone; whether a lawyer, doctor, dentist, or any professional you are paying with your hard earned money, I suggest you search until you find that correct professional for you.

At approx. 11:30 am on June 13, 2011, I entered McNery & Voelker PC, Estate Settlement Services…read moreInc. and explained that I would be relocating my family out of the central Texas area. As this business handled estate settlement services, I inquired if that was related to home equity transactions as we own several residential homes in the central texas area that will be consolidated and sold soon. The real estate is valued at approximately $500,000. It seemed unusual to me that this man was talking to me in a hallway, about financial transactions at this level ... and we are right in front of chairs and offices, and yet ... he had not offered me a chair or asked me to enter his office. I quickly recieved the impression the employee of McNery & Voelker PC took one look at the color of my skin and decided it didn't matter how much money I had. All he wanted was to get me of the office. At that point I explained that I needed to use the men's room. I have a medical condition and it was immediately necessary that I use it. Often when you have a condition such as this you request to use the men's room, and you don't just start by sharing a private medical reason for the need. I am wearing a $15,000 Rolex, and it is immediately obvious based on my clothes that I am in a good place financially - especially for a man of 34 years old. Despite my simple request, I was denied access to the restroom. "Oh yes, he said, there is a restroom but it is not for people like you. If you need to use a bathroom, go somewhere else, IT IS NOT MY PROBLEM." Oh, is this woolworths in 1960, i didn't realize people with skin my color weren't allowed to eat sandwiches at the lunch counter. Shall I go to the back of the bus like Rosa Parks for you? Should a brief restroom visit for medical reasons for a documented disability be required to use the restroom at McNery & Voelker PC??? If you are not white/caucasian ... perhaps. Rather than take 2 minutes to comply with Title III of the Americans With Disabilities Act, the employee of M&V PC suggested I walk down the street and use the bathroom elsewhere. It is an emergency. That is when the profanity started. F you It's NOT MY PROBLEM etc. Why would I trust a man so unstable and so impolite with a transaction as complex and requiring of finesse as a $500,000 real estate involving multiple properties? Why would i pay a commission to a man who discriminates against me? As I walked out the door I explained I would post a YELP review because I felt his language was inappropriate and impolite. I was immediately assaulted. The employee rapidly approached me with clenched fists, and I exited the door, where he followed me with an angry raised voice and yelled "F you, you MF Dick ..." Assault is a crime and is defined as when a person is in imminent fear of physical attack. Assault does not require physical contact, just the fear of (in the victim) physical contact. Actual contact turns it into Assault and Battery. He Assaulted me. Obviously there is no point in me wasting one dollar filing a private lawsuit against him for this as I can simply file a complaint of Title III violation to the Department Of Justice Civil Rights Division 950 Pennsylvania Ave NW Disability Rights Section NYAV Washington D.C. 20530. After all, denying me the right to a men's room for immediate emergency treatment of a legally defined disability is no different from piling cinderblocks on the handicapped ramp and demanding a man in a wheelchair "leave immediately". He has no more right to "throw unwanted customers out based on their disability" than Woolworth's did when they said African-americans were not allowed to eat at the lunch counter in 1960. Did I mention that I am a member of a legally recognized minority group of which the employee of W&V PC is not? So it is clear to me the type of clients McNery & Voelker PC wants, and I am absolutely certain that if I was a member of the same racial group as McNery & Voelker PC's employees, that I would have been given instantaneous access to the restroom. Because I was not, it didn't matter that I was wearing a $15,000 watch or how much money I had: my money was the right color but my skin was not. I had heard that there was racism in the South, and actually, this was the first and only time that I have personally experienced it. I have no need for private lawsuits ... I only wish to share the criminal abuse I suffered so others can know what really lives in the hearts of McNery & Voelker PC. I pray that they are all not "like that." I will never return to the doorstep of McNery & Voelker PC, so I suppose I will never know.

I have never been so appalled by an interaction with an attorney. He does not value the rights of children with disabilities in any way and he clearly has a massive set of preconceived biases he should unpack in therapy, along with his assumptions that abused ADHD or Autistic children are liars. Stay far, far away from this attorney and this firm of your child has been abused or his/her disability rights have been violated at school. This is not an exaggeration. They are a rip off company and can be very rude even to the point of hanging up on you. They are very unprofessional.
