We reached out to this firm for advice regards to an assault incident we had a few days ago. I was so surprised that they reached out on a Sunday, due to the incident being urgent. The lawyer Mr. Bennett, was so sweet and very informative. He provided tons of good points and made me feel at ease since I was the victim. He really cared when we spoke and very super polite. Usually, most law firms don't respond until Monday or even a few days later. I would highly, highly, recommend this firm. I know there's tons out there but they don't even compete with this one. Call or email them and make that appointment. You won't be disappointed. read more

I cannot recommend Alan Bennett enough. Recommended through the USCCA network. Simply fantastic! My future go-to for counsel.

Alan Bennett gave me sage advice without taking a dime. I needed a consultation regarding possible charges, and while other firms painted a terrifying picture, Alan gave me realistic hope. I still may need to hire him if the worst happens, but I would know I'd be hiring a truly decent, honest, caring person with enough experience to know how to call a spade a spade. I am so grateful for the kindness, and we agreed we both hope we never have to speak again! read more

I cannot recommend Gene more. I hail from a family of lawyers (grand, parents, sister, etc...) and I believe I may know better than most what a good lawyer does, court methods, etc as well as client communication and, most of all, are they tough negotiators and have a great grasp of the law. In all cases, Gene gets 5 stars and I could not express my gratitude for the tenacious counsel he exhibited on my behalf and, incredibly, it was against a gov't agency which comes with its own set of problems: namely they are a gov't agency. So, if you are looking for a tough, smart lawyer, Gene Anthes would be my choice and I would go back to him in a heartbeat if I needed the help. read more

We all go through life hoping we will never have any type of a criminal issue but sometimes we find ourselves in unfortunate situations where we don't make appropriate choices. I had hired another attorney for my criminal case last year and just felt I was being put off and nothing was actually being done. I came here for a second opinion and got to meet with Gene Anthes. He listened to my story, took notes, and was very engaged and not judgemental in any way which means a lot in these situations. I felt better informed after just one hour with him than I had felt in two months with my previous attorney. Gene was a man of action, was very informative, and made sure I understood the legal process. A week later my case was dismissed. (Not a typical result I'd imagine so don't expect miracles) The professionalism, compassion, and work ethic of this office is something I will be forever thankful for. They are worth every penny and treat you like a human and never make you feel bad for the situation you are in. I have since sent a co-worker to them and she had an equally wonderful experience. Hire them, you won't regret it. read more

After consultations from at least ten different law offices about my pending case, Gene Anthes was the only lawyer I spoke with that provided any reassurance about what steps to take next. Every lawyer I spoke with was pretty much doom and gloom about my case as if I was lucky to even speak with them. After sitting with Gene for a few moments about what I was looking at, I was able to take a deep breath of relief as if there was finally light at the end of the tunnel. I thought my life was surely ruined speaking with any other lawyer. Working with Gene has been one of the biggest life changing moments in my entire life and he was extremely responsive and productive throughout the process. Sheila at the office was an absolute life saver in helping me get my paperwork over to him in a timely manner and I'm extremely grateful they accepted my case. If you want your case to be resolved in an incredibly mind bending situation, Gene Anthes is the only lawyer to call. Thanks, Gene, for everything you've done for me! And thank you for not letting the justice system turn me into some outlandish criminal! read more

This was the first time I'd ever had to work with a lawyer in this capacity, and after working with Gene he is someone I would highly recommend. He displayed compassion and patience towards us, ensuring we understood the process, what he was doing and why, and answered all of our questions along the way. It can be a confusing and stressful process dealing with legal matters, and having a lawyer who takes time to make sure their clients are informed and comfortable is invaluable. He was patient, professional and compassionate, showed us clear dedication and was able to get this case dismissed. I felt Gene did an excellent job and would highly recommend to anyone who is in need of legal assistance. read more

Not sure why this guy has 5 different entries in Yelp. Perhaps they are auto-populated. I went to Chris Gunter's office after getting a DWI in Austin. Yes, it sucked, and yes, I am an idiot. Let me first say that I wish this never happened in the first place. Concerned as I was about this incident, I visited about 12 different law firms to see if I could find the best representation to make sure I got the best possible outcome for my case. Prices were all over the map, with Mr. Gunter toward the top of the price range. Mr. Gunter promised to be aggressive in court, and gave me the impression that he'd really take good care of me, so I thought it was worth spending a little more than I would have with other attorneys (I paid him about $3500). He gave an amazing presentation to me in his early meetings before I confirmed that I would hire him, and I was impressed by his time on the DA. Unfortunately, once I hired him I got a completely different experience. Everything about our relationship made me wish I hired someone else. First, he did a terrible job representing me in court. He wouldn't even go with me to court. He'd usually send either another attorney or a junior attorney to go with me. Not what I paid for. In the end, I would have had the EXACT SAME OUTCOME IF I HAD REPRESENTED MYSELF. I really wish I just saved that $3500! None of the things he promised beforehand did he actually follow through on. That was the worst part. But, this way of handling his clients carried through to everything. Whenever we'd have an appointment, he'd be about 45 minutes late (on average), and would make me wait in his waiting room. This is tough to manage while trying to hold down a career! His reception staff was super rude any time you'd call or show up for an appointment...not sure why they are so angry! Maybe he treats them like his clients. At the time that we worked together, they did not use email (at least for clients), which is a very convenient way to communicate or to send non-confidential documents. Now I understand that a DWI is probably small potatoes for a criminal defense attorney. However, if he was not interested in helping me he should have been clearer about that at the outset. If I had it all to do over again, I would have never set foot in his office. There are a lot of good DWI lawyers in Austin, and I'd highly recommend that others look at some of them before Mr. Gunter and his associates. read more

Alan Bennett is an absolute all-star. I found myself in an unfortunate, ridiculous situation and Alan took me in and tackled my case with absolute alacrity. It took him 3.5 months to get it thrown out and I never had to step foot in a courtroom. Eternally grateful. read more

I found out the hard way how easy it is to get a DWI in Austin. Two relatives of mine had used Alan Bennett and were pleased with him so I considered having him represent me as well. I did visit a few other attorneys to shop around and they seemed more interested in getting me to sign a contract than learning more about my situation. Not so with Alan. He answered all my questions and after sleeping on it for a night I went through with it. He fought to get an occupational license since I refused the breathalyzer and I always felt like I knew exactly what stage my case was at. Alan always called back the same day or occasionally the following day when I had questions (which I had a lot) while waiting on my case. It turned out I was under 0.08 (barely) and Alan got my case reduced to a traffic ticket which was eventually dismissed as well. I will be using Alan again in 2 years when I'm eligible for an expunction of the arrest. In summary if I were to ever be in the unfortunate need of legal representation again I wouldn't hesitate at all to hire Alan again. read more

Great group of lawyers! Very straightforward and honest. Chris Gunter handled a rather difficult criminal case for me. While I'm confident that Mr Gunter could have fully won my case in a trial, he kept my case from going to trial in the first place. read more

Alan Bennett is hands down one of the best attorneys in town. Everyone in the firm is great but Alan has always taken good care of me. Good people to know (especially when you need them) and they will shoot straight with you. I highly recommend them if you need legal help. read more

I can't recommend this firm enough. They went above and beyond to help me. There are NO other lawyers that I would consider here in Austin. Alan Bennett is a class act and so is his business. read more

Mr. Gunter and Mr. Bennett have been incredible with their professionalism and have far exceeded expectations in serving this community.

Alan Bennett was a joy to work with. He is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and gifted at explaining all the possible options one has at their disposal given their unique circumstances. I would recommend anyone to Alan who needs handling of any pending criminal cases. read more

Worked with Chris Gunter and the firm to resolve a DWI case... He went above and beyond the call of duty and was able to get my 3rd offense down to a 1st offense and a 3 jail sentence(which I had time served from the org arrest). Not only that, he answered his phone in the middle of the night and made arrangements to get me out of jail immediately after the arrest. All of this was with a very reasonable fee and he even worked with me on payment arrangements. These guys have a outstanding relationship with the judges and can work magic! Don't listen to any negative reviews.... Chris was a huge help and made this such an easy process...These guys are great and worth every penny!!!!! read more

This is maybe the second Yelp review I've ever written. Working with Alan Bennett made a very stressful situation so much better. He was available at any time to us and worked very hard to provide the best possible outcome. We feel so fortunate to have been referred by a family member (a judge) to him. I would hate to think where we would be in this legal situation without Alan. Call him immediately if arrested and, above all, follow his advice! read more

Chris Gunter, the Best. Period . Watching this guy in trial is like watching 'poetry in motion'. Just pay your fee, wind him up & watch him go. A thing of beauty. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about our attorney, Alan Bennett. We have used his services twice over the last 4 years and he always exceeds expectation! Mr. Bennett is an attorney that will be more than a legal partner...he will advocate for your child as though your child were his own. He is willing to talk you through difficult situations and use his immense law experience to resolve your case. He has been able to set legal precedent in Travis County by advocating for outcomes that are creative and allow for treatment and therapy in juvenile cases, not punishment. Mr. Bennett's attention to detail and compassion are one reason I am so glad we chose him as our legal representation. I highly recommend his services. read more

I am very impressed with my experience working with the Gunter & Bennett team as a whole, but more specifically with my attorney Gene Anthes. As a result of Gene's good work, my charges were reduced to a Class C Misdemeanor and will eventually be expunged from my record. After doing copious amounts of research, I found that Gene was the best fit for me because he is intelligent, he knows his way away around the Travis County courts, and he conducts himself in a professional manner. Gene was always available when I tried to contact him and he never kept me waiting for information. More importantly, Gene's pricing was extremely reasonable given the level of service I received. I could not be happier with Gene and his firm and I recommend them to anyone who values a respectful business relationship. read more

Very grateful to Gene Anthes for his kind and professional handling of my daughter's legal situation. He advised several of her friends as well, and continued to be available for support even when some of them chose to self-represent. Mr. Bennett is a fabulous attorney. He is patient, resourceful, and very helpful. During the time I worked with him, he always responded my questions with legit explanations, completed his due diligence, and went the extra mile to provide me with all the information I needed to make decisions. Best of all, he was always supportive and optimistic about the outcome of the case. As it happens, I met an individual who worked with Mr. Bennett in the past and spoke very highly of him; he has a great reputation for a reason! I'm very happy he was recommended to me and I would definitely recommend him as well. read more

Adding my endorsement for Mr Bennet who helped this dad with my daughter's arrest for DUI. As most know, DUI arrests in Austin are for real, happen often and they expose you to a very scary part of our legal system...one with not much aptitude for compassion or common sense at the arresting officer level. Simple lane change violation followed by voluntary admission of one drink followed by breathalyzer refusal will get you booked and in jail as fast as a drunken high speed chase with injuries. My daughter (the former case above) was traumatized and sitting in jail when we contacted Mr Bennet. He went above and beyond to provide thoughtful and compassionate advice, kept us informed about options and when required, leveraged his reputation and relationships to finally win a complete dismissal of charges. This was a months long process and an expensive lesson for us but in terms of value for money spent, Mr Bennet's fee pales when compared to restored reputation, security clearances, driving privileges and insurance rates. Highly recommend this firm and this man--especially for DUI cases. read more

My out-of-state DWI conviction also meant a three month suspension of my Texas license. In the process of getting a temporary occupational license for me Alan Bennett discovered a discrepancy between the two states' systems that allowed me to keep my Texas license. I would have never discovered this on my own. I deeply appreciate the professional service I received. read more

I was referred to Alan Bennett to represent me with a case I was charged with, and I have to say I'm very pleased and grateful for the great work he did, in getting my case dismissed! I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for an attorney who stays in constant communication, and will guide them through every step of the way for getting your case resolved. He personally went to every court date with me and made sure that I completed everything the court would require so that my case could get handled in a timely manner. I seriously can't thank him enough for all his hard work, so thanks again Alan B! read more
