Wow! I made a last minute appointment through Yelp message and got to request what I wanted through text beforehand. I knew I wanted baby-lights but wasn't expecting to get this light/blond in just one session. I was there from 2:30-9:45pm and I was so sore after, but it was totally worth it. The ladies were nice enough to stay over time which I appreciated so much. I paid $340 + tip which is less than what I expected to pay. Totally worth the money because I consider it to be a color correction, and if I went to a different salon, they probably would have charged $100+ by the hour... They bleached my hair and put over 200 foils on my head which took over 5 hours itself, but my hair turned pink due to all the box dye and stuff I did throughout the last two years. Somehow they still managed to make my hair a nice, almost platinum blond! They acknowledge that there were some red/orange spots but I was totally okay with that because I knew they did what they could and it's not their fault! I liked that they were transparent with me and still worked with my stubborn hair. They really did their best to do what I had asked and they definitely went over the top of my expectations. I've gotten my hair done a lot so I know the process and am understanding that my hair often reacts to bleach badly, but this salon did a phenomenal job. I'm going to continue taking care of my hair and go back in a couple months for a touch up. I'm more than thrilled about the outcome of my hair. I totally recommend this salon and won't go anywhere else now because my hair is also pretty healthy which is crazy. They use Olaplex as well, and I also saw other good high end products too. Thanh is a hair wizard! This was my first time going to Thanh and she blew my expectations out of the water! I came in with three different shades in my hair -- black roots, red middles, and orange bottoms. It took 7 hours to turn my mane into an ashy grey dream! Before you undergo this transformation, I would highly recommend you bracing yourself for the time and if you have heavy hair, for the weight of the product + foils. My neck and back were definitely strained, but it was all worth it! I know that anywhere else I would have gone, this would have taken 3-4 visits in a span of months. The entire session of color correcting, bleaching, toning, and washing was $250. I was happy to see that Thanh uses Olaplex and was very thorough on the after care routine to maintain the health and color. I'd hate to write a bad review for Tran but here goes. I came here on 3/6..sent her a pic of my dark brown & of what I wanted. I didn't get what I wanted at all. Sat there for 5 hours with tons of foil in my hair. When she was done she kept talking about how ashy and good it looked. Well I really wanted the grey color not blonde or ash but whatever. I left pretty happy still since my hair looked nice. Well couple days later it's super super dry. I have to cut the dry ends myself because it looked like the bottom of a broom. Today 3/22 I text her a pic of my hair and ask her is she can FIX it. She says sure come in. I go in...there for about an hour. My hair looks sooo much better now. No more orange. I'm so glad I was able to find Thanh! She does such an amazing job and provides the best service and also gives advice on maintaining the color. My friend did a balayage and baby lights and it came out amazing. I decided to get my hair colored after the recommendation. Thanh was very honest about my hair and told me it would take a few sessions to get my hair dark again, since my hair is very bleached. She also told me I had a lot of orange and there were uneven parts from a dye job done from a salon in Fremont. She was able to correct everything and made my hair darker. After a few washes my hair did get a little lighter, but that was to be expected. I will need to book another session. I've always been getting my hair done in San Jose. Can't believe I just met Thanh this week! I've been trying for the past couple years to find someone who was willing to tackle my challenge of a box dyed lightened hair situation and she handled it so well!! I've been going to Thanh since 2016 when I first decided to go lighter - it was important for me to find a hairstylist that knows how to handle Asian hair, and provides fair pricing in the Bay Area. (: Happy to get my hair done by her along with her new employee Tiffany (who was very nice!)! COLOR CORRECTION TREATMENT/PRICING: I decided to get my hair color corrected since I attempted to bleach it light blond, and it came out hideously uneven. Thanh was flexible with her scheduling, and charged around $160 (grand opening discount) to get my hair fixed. The only issue was that I asked to have it be a lighter blond color (https://data.whicdn.com/images/194600302/original.gif) but it turned out to be much more rose gold instead, as seen in the after picture. Thanh always says that she will try her best to match your reference picture (and the honesty is appreciated!) yet I suggest when getting hair dyed to be clear with what is wanted, and what isn't. For example, I given purple dye at the crown of my head, which may be a miscommunication error (Thanh mentioned putting a darker color, which I thought she meant a darker rose gold). That being said, I've grown to adore my rose gold color, as it matches my complexion more. (: CUSTOMER SERVICE: I was not happy with the purple dye, and asked to have it redone free of charge. Thanh luckily was not antagonistic at all, but open to having it redone - it wasn't a hassle to get it fixed. The only fee I had to pay was for the conditioning treatment. Thanh is communicative and open-minded; whenever I ask to schedule an appointment, she responds promptly (through text messaging) and is also open to talking about any issues or concerns I have with my hair post-treatment. Excellent care for patients, and easy to reach and talk to! (Also, for those wondering about root touchups, an inch is around $160 - 200 dollars.) PUBLIC TRANSPORT: If you are coming from San Francisco, take the BART, exiting Bay Fair, then the 10 bus (getting off almost directly in front of the salon on Mission Blvd and Medford Ave). read more
