This is EXACTLY what I needed in my life and I had absolutely no idea. February 2019: I went to a French Meetup at Maroosh in the Gables. I had a fantastic time. Good food, great company, and of course belly dancing! Since then, I have had my eye on belly dancing. Call it a bucket list item if you will. I can finally say that thanks to Belly Motions I tried it. I signed up via ClassPass for their 10 AM Fundamentals class. My instructor was Alexandra. She was so lively, full of energy and pep. Felt more like being with a friend than an instructor. The Fundamentals class is essentially Belly Dancing 101. You know - your standard intro class. In it, you do some stretches, learn about locking and popping, but most importantly: the shimmy! When in doubt, shimmy. Actually I think that might be what one of their shirts say, but it's super true. For my first class, they let me borrow a sash (or is it a coin belt?). It was so pretty that once class was over, I bought my own, because I am going back. That and admittedly I have a bunch of workout equipment at home. It motivates me. Anyway, Miss Emilia was heading the front desk and she was very sweet. Miss Luisa was teaching the little ones, as apparently they also teach kids. There's a show now on Saturday. I doubt I will get to go as I already have plans, but from what I was told, they do several a year. Because of this show, they're closed this next weekend (which is rare). Still, I'm anxiously waiting for ClassPass to open for Saturday, March 14th. I want to go back and dance. This was just so ridiculously fun, but more so, empowering. Dare I say it? You feel like a goddess! read more

I found Belly Motions through ClassPass and have been coming here for a few classes! Everyone is super friendly and Ms. P is a wonderful and engaging teacher. I was nervous to come to a belly dance class on my own, but this has quickly become one of my favorite ways to exercise while in Miami! Thank you! read more

Kindest, most talented teacher you will ever meet! Funny and caring, great workout and skill build!

More than just bellydancing.... Belly Motions: Portia is more than just an instructor and owner, she is like a friend. She quickly makes you feel right at home form the very first belly dancing class. No experience necessary and any ability level welcomed. All of her instructors are amazing, as well. The cardio belly dancing is a high-energy class. Bring sneakers for this one. If you are looking for a great class with a friendly, noncompetitive ambiance, then Belly Motions is for you! Love love them! Always willing to work with you. Very friendly and professional staff! Narayani is amazing!

Belly Motions is an awesome place to learn belly dance. I wasn't a beginner when I took classes with Portia, but she is an incredible teacher and soooo friendly and personable. She welcomes you into the class and treats you like a friend almost immediately. She makes her students feel so comfortable and she's great at breaking down the movements and giving individual attention when needed. She's young and energetic, and very knowledgeable about fitness and the female body. Not to mention, she's an award winning dancer. All the teachers at Belly Motions are good, but Portia's amazing. If you can, take your classes with her. Have fun! read more

Where to start?? I love this belly dance studio! My daughter & I have been dancing at Belly Motions for 6 years! My daughter is 10 & looks forward to every class & performance. We both love the classes we take separately and we really love the Mommy & Me program they offer! The instructors are all great! Portia, the owner/director is truly a special woman! Miss Luisa the teacher/director of the children's program is so great with the girls. All the instructors are so good! It's such a happy, positive environment! We could not imagine belly dancing anywhere else. read more

I really wanted to love this studio but JEEZ...they are MONEY HUNGRY!!! Do yourself a favor and don't buy from their overpriced store. With a quick google search, you can find the same exact items they sell in there for about 50% less. I also hired one of the dancers for my event. This studio boasts about having "the best" performers in Miami. The dancer was ok but I have seen MANY belly dancers in Miami who are better. They overhype themselves on their website. No, they are not Miami's best belly dancers, and no, they do not come close to being Miami's best belly dancers. The owner - Portia - is nice but extremely full of herself. Her self-obsession bothered me while taking her class. She is also DESPERATE to sell her services to anyone who is willing to take them. Bottom line: The classes are okay. You can find better in Pembroke Pines if you are willing to travel about 30 mins from Coral Gables. The merchandise is ridiculously overpriced and can be found online for much less. The dancers are not bad but you can definitely find better quality belly dancers here in Miami. read more

I just took a class here today with Portia and absolutely fell in LOVE! I definitely recommend trying her new dance & conditioning class. If you're like me who loathes the idea of being on a treadmill to get your sweat of the day and need something upbeat & fun try this studio! The class was fun with some modern music but also Had a great international flavor of different dances PLUS a toning portion. She is so bubbly and really keeps you motivated to keep going. Loved the energy and vibe. The studio has a variety of classes to offer of international dance which I love..but this was the first class I ever tried so far. Will definitely be back. read more

I love this place. I do the Kukuwa African dance class and I've done the Belly dance class for beginners. Always a lot of fun and a great workout. The workers are super friendly as well as the owner Portia. Their facility is very clean and it really feels like home. read more

If you have never danced and want to give it a try, Belly Motions is the right place. This is a great place for students of all levels. The instructors are friendly, welcoming and above all, beautiful dancers. Can't wait to see their new studio space! read more

Absolutely the best instructors and a wonderful environment!

Portia is seriously one of the sweetest people I've ever met. She is an excellent dancer and teacher who makes you feel very comfortable and knows how to break down the moves so that anyone can learn them. All of the instructors I've had from this studio share these traits as well. The classes are fun and you really look forward to coming back for the next lesson. Their shop of belly dance related items is well stocked, but be warned, it can get VERY addictive. I recently moved very far from here, but believe me, I will be returning for lessons the moment my schedule clears up. The drive is worth it! read more

I've been belly dancing for about 3 years, and this is the second studio I go to. I stopped for 6 months and decided to go to Belly Motions as I was looking for a more structured program. Not only did I get exactly what I expected and more....By more I mean the ambiance is amazing the staff are always so pleasant. Belly dancing is not only my hobby, it has become a passion, going to my classes is just for ME, my therapy. I just finished B1 with Luisa, and although I am not a beginner I feel that I learned sooo much from her, as the explains thoroughly what muscles are being engaged helping the student make the mental connection between the movement and the actual body part you are trying to use. Luisa is an Architect by trade, and I am a Nurse, making Luisa absolutely a perfect match for me. I started with B-1 since I had been away from dancing for 6 months plus I had a hospitalization for back pain. I am now pain free most days, thanks to my return to belly dancing with the support of Luisa and Belly Motions. Last but not least Portia is a sweetie pie, I have not taken classes with her yet, but look forward to it. Thanks again. read more
