I absolutely loved my hair! My sister, Elizeth, did such an amazing job, and I'm so happy with how it turned out. She was so sweet, patient, and really took the time to make sure everything looked exactly how I wanted. My hair came out so beautiful, soft, and full of dimension! I definitely recommend booking with her if you're looking for someone who cares about their work and makes you feel beautiful! read more

My experience with Bellus Academy's PM program has been extremely disappointing. While there are genuinely talented, dedicated instructors at this school, their efforts are unfortunately overshadowed by ongoing issues that I believe administration has failed to address appropriately. One of the most serious concerns involves Mr. Elijah. Multiple complaints have reportedly been made regarding behavior that has caused female students to feel uncomfortable, including allegations of inappropriate staring and interactions. There have also been concerns raised about his continued use of Meta smart glasses despite school policies regarding their use. When multiple students raise similar concerns on separate occasions, those concerns deserve to be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and addressed transparently. Students are paying thousands of dollars for their education. They should not have to attend class feeling uncomfortable, unheard, or concerned that repeated complaints about an instructor are being overlooked. A school has a responsibility not only to provide an education, but also to create an environment where students feel respected and where legitimate concerns are handled seriously. What makes this situation especially frustrating is that Bellus Academy does have some excellent instructors who genuinely care about their students and their education. Unfortunately, a few ongoing problems--and the apparent lack of meaningful action surrounding them--can damage the reputation of an entire school and overshadow the educators who are doing their jobs well. Bellus Academy has positive qualities, but the PM program needs stronger accountability, better communication, and, most importantly, an administration that listens when multiple students repeatedly raise concerns. Students should not have to wonder how many complaints it takes before an issue is taken seriously. For anyone considering enrolling in the PM program, I strongly encourage you to ask questions, speak with current students, and thoroughly research the environment before making such a significant financial commitment. read more

This was my first time visiting the Bellus Academy Chula Vista location and I had a really nice experience The environment felt warm and welcoming, and everyone seemed friendly and professional Leticia was the student who serviced me today and she did an amazing job ‍ She was very kind and took the time to explain what she was doing throughout the process, which I really appreciated. It made the whole experience feel comfortable and thoughtful Overall I had a great visit and enjoyed the atmosphere at the school. I even went ahead and booked my next appointment because the prices are hard to beat and I love supporting the local community and students while they're learning Would I recommend it? Yes I'll definitely be back! read more

I had the BEST experience with Kayla at Bellus Academy!! I went in for a gloss and blowout and I am seriously obsessed with how my hair turned out! My hair looks so shiny, healthy, and soft, and the blowout was absolutely beautiful. Kayla was so sweet, took her time, and really made sure I loved everything before I left. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair already! I'm so happy with the results and would 100% recommend Kayla to anyone looking to get their hair done. She did an amazing job!! read more

I came in for a Gelivate nail fill and a pedicure with Kyla Cortez, and she did an amazing job! Kyla was detailed, patient, and very professional throughout the entire service. She took her time to make sure everything was clean, even, and polished beautifully. The instructors were supportive and checked in as needed, but Kyla handled the service with confidence and great technique. For being a student, her work was impressive and showed real potential. Keeping in mind that it's a school, the overall experience and value were excellent. I left feeling relaxed and very happy with my nails. Highly recommend booking with Kyla--she's definitely one to watch! read more

I had a wonderful experience with Marleen, the night instructor. I came in for a consultation regarding a complicated color correction, and she was incredibly knowledgeable, honest, and professional. She thoroughly assessed my hair, used color swatches, explained what she saw. Because the evening program has limited service hours and the students are still developing their knowledge, experience, and speed, she was honest that my particular color correction would be better handled by an experienced professional rather than risk compromising the integrity of my hair. I greatly appreciated her honesty and professionalism. I still moved forward with getting a haircut, and despite being short-staffed, Marleen was extremely attentive. She supervised and taught throughout the cut, stepped in when needed, and came back after my hair was dried and styled for a final quality check. I left with a great haircut and an even greater appreciation for her professionalism, honesty, knowledge, and dedication to her students and clients. I will definitely be back for future services and highly recommend this school and its instructors. Thanks again, Bellus Academy ps. once my color gets fixed I'll come back and add a pic of my hair cut read more

Take two I'm glad to have given this location a second chance. It was never a question on if these students have talent, for me. Today once again proves that. Today, I was able to meet with Diana Cervante. She and the educator took their time to understand what I wanted to have done. Diana did a fantastic job and I'm really happy with the color she executed! I will be back to see her in the future. Thank you to the educator Ms. Marlene for being consistent and the receptionist in the front as they were there originally the first time and treated me with compassion and dignity when assisting with the situation in order to keep an open dialogue. Lastly, thank you to the director for reaching out to listen and make things right. read more

After I posted this review, the school contacted me, gave me a full refund, and offered to have one of their best instructor fix my hair at no charge. I appreciate that they took the time to reach out and try to make things right. I ultimately declined because I wasn't comfortable returning after my experience. read more

A couple weeks ago, I saw students holding up sign saying that they needed customers. I was in between beauty salons so I figured they needed students I needed my hair done. I made an appointment. I got Claudia the student and Miss Rosa, the instructor. I believe Miss Rosa was very professional knowledgeable and used every opportunity she could as a teaching mechanism for her students. Claudia was kind patient and she really wanted to do a good job. Sometimes she had a little anxiety moments but at the end of the day they did a magnificent job. I gave them complete freedom. I told them my problem point was my gray hair and I had a very demanding job so I I couldn't get to the Salons as much as I knew I should. I wanted something low maintenance to hide my grays and that was where my two key points whatever color whatever other ideas they had I gave them free will to do. I also got partial highlights some low lights. I got toner and I got a haircut and style. Everything was priced beautifully especially in this economy. Please take cash tips for the students. I would highly recommend this place. I would go back again. Everybody is nice. The front desk is nice as well parking is a bit of an issue so I did get dropped off. If you can get dropped off that would be ideal. If not, go with enough time to find parking, that's the only downside to this I think all the students they want to learn and want to do a good job so if you could give them a chance, it would be great because we all learn we didn't become experts overnight. I think they did a fabulous job on my hair. I would definitely go again and I would highly recommend to anybody. I don't think my picture does the job justice to be honest on pictures in the sun one indoors read more

I truly love this place -- the prices are unbeatable, and every student who has worked on my hair has done an amazing job. I've always left feeling satisfied and well taken care of, which is why it pains me to leave a 1-star review. Unfortunately, the parking situation is consistently frustrating and, honestly, unacceptable at this point. Students regularly double-park, blocking in paying clients even when there are clearly open spaces available. Today was especially upsetting -- I was blocked in and had to track down the student, who didn't even come out until I called out to her car. After she moved, another student immediately pulled up to double-park again. Thankfully, they let me out, but then just returned to block someone else in. It's incredibly disappointing that after all these years, this ongoing parking issue hasn't been addressed. It creates unnecessary stress for customers who are here to relax and support the students. I hope management takes this seriously and puts a system in place to fix it -- for the sake of both clients and the reputation of the school. read more

Booked an appointment for all over color dye. Simple all black. Arrived. 35 minutes after sitting in the chair they told me they don't have black dye. But insisted on brown. I have natural brown hair. Makes no sense. For a school not to have a simple black dye is not acceptable. Stylist was also late checking me in by ten minutes because no one had told her I was at the front waiting... unprofessional school. And very run down. Try Paul Mitchell, you'll thank me read more

DO not go to Bellus Academy Chula Vista!!! I came for a basic flat iron. To start she rub washed my hair, instead of a real wash in which you kind of scratch the scalp, second she didn't dry my hair before applying leave in conditioner because the were out of heat protectant, then she immediately flat ironed my WET hair, burning my scalp with each swipe of the flat ironed, I repeatedly ask her to stop but she continued. She stated that's what the instructor told her to do. Now my scalp is sore and my hair is frizzy not straight, And not to mention she took 3 hrs. For a Flat Iron. There's no way I will ever come back or send anyone their way. My hair has permanent damage. Because she thought it was ok to keep flat ironing my hair wet. You could see the smoke every time. And to top it off the lady that was supposed to do my nails left because it took 3hrs. I wish I could sue. When I asked her to stop she should have stopped. Period. She kept burning my scalp getting to close with the flat iron. read more

I love Bellus Academy. Let me start out by saying Mariana at the front desk is incredibly helpful and goes above and beyond. Management needs to give her a substantial raise. Armando cut my hair in the men's section and did a stellar performance. My mother got her hair styled by teacher Griselda and young superstar newcomer hairstylist Jocelyn. I want to say each of these individuals are outstanding and an asset to Bellus Academy. My mother was extremely satisfied with the work performed on her. Her hair looks like a million dollars. Bellus Academy is such a great asset for the Chula Vista community. You can get work done at an extremely reasonable price, get great service and they treat you like a king or queen . I had the absolute privilege of being one of Ms. Leaah's students at Bellus Academy, and I genuinely can't imagine my experience there without her! She's not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in esthetics, but also one of the funniest, most down-to-earth, and supportive instructors you could ask for. She was always there for us--not just in class, helping us perfect our technique, but also outside the classroom. Whether it was answering questions, giving pep talks, or just making us laugh when we needed it most, she created a space where we felt encouraged, seen, and capable of succeeding. You can tell she truly cares about her students and wants them to thrive, both in school and beyond. Her honesty, humor, and passion for the industry were unmatched. I'm so grateful to have had her as my instructor, and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. If you ever get the chance to learn from Ms. Leaah--take it. She's a mentor I'll always remember!! :) read more

I truly don't know how I would have made it through esthetician school without Ms. Leah. (A lot happened to me lol) From day one, she made me feel safe, seen, and supported. She wasn't just a teacher--she was my rock during some of the most challenging and transformative months of my life. No matter what I was going through, I knew I could come to her for guidance, understanding, or just a moment to breathe. She created an environment where I felt secure enough to grow, ask questions, and be myself without fear of judgment. Her knowledge and passion for the industry are inspiring, but it was her kindness and unwavering support that made the biggest impact on me. I'll always be grateful for everything she did--big and small--to make my time in school easier, and for being someone I could count on. Thank you, Ms. Leah, for being such a light during my journey. read more

I recently graduated from the Esthetics 103 program at Bellus Academy in Chula Vista. Overall, I had a really positive experience! I loved the program and especially appreciated my amazing instructors Ms. Lilian, Ms. Leah, and Ms. Tiffany. They were all incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and made learning enjoyable. That said, I did run into ongoing issues with student services, specifically with Ms. Danielle. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with her throughout the program. Emails would often go unanswered or were responded to weeks later, and she was rarely available in her office. When I did manage to speak with her, the conversations felt rushed, and at times, she seemed frustrated or uninterested in helping even though it's part of her role. I understand she's been in her position for over 12 years, but I believe the workload might be too much for one person given how many students attend and enroll each month. Some additional support in that department would really benefit both the staff and students. Aside from that, everyone else was great! The AM front desk staff were always friendly and helpful, and financial aid was great to work with and very informative. Despite that one area of concern, I'm thankful for my time at Bellus and the education I received. I'd still recommend the program to others. read more

I was a student at Bellus Academy in Chula Vista and completed the Advanced Esthetician program. My experience during the first part of the program wasn't the best but everything changed once I entered the advanced portion with the PM educator, Ms. Laura. The difference was incredible. I genuinely feel like I learned more in those three months of Advanced 103 than I did in the previous six months combined. She has an amazing ability to explain concepts in a way that makes them easy to understand, and she truly wants every student to succeed. What stood out to me most was her patience. No matter how many questions I asked, she always took the time to make sure everyone understood before moving on. She created a supportive learning environment where students felt comfortable asking questions and building confidence. She is also one of the most organized teachers I've ever had. Every lesson was well-planned, structured, and purposeful, which made such a huge difference in my education. You could tell she came prepared every single day and genuinely cared about giving her students the best learning experience possible. I'm incredibly grateful to have had her as my teacher. She helped me grow not only in my knowledge and skills as an esthetician but also in my confidence. I can honestly say that my experience in the advanced program exceeded my expectations because of her dedication, professionalism, and passion for teaching. read more

I am new to town and I always like to visit beauty schools to help the new students practice in me. However I've never experienced anything like this. The poor girl who cut my hair had obviously never cut hair on a real person. Ever. I assumed there would be a supervisor or someone to guide her with the process. Not one supervisor came over to help her. I left with a haircut that is terribly uneven and wrong. No supervision so what exactly did this poor girl learn from hacking at my hair? Nothing! I won't be going back. I was going to try their facials etc but that doesn't seem safe here. read more

My grandma and I got haircuts earlier this week, which turned out great! But this review is specifically for Nakeyia. My daughter has textured hair which was in need of some serious love! Well Nakeyia sure delivered!!! She detangled her hair like a total boss!! When she washed her hair, she was extremely thorough and made sure every strand soaked up the deep conditioner. I was nervous at first because my daughter has sooo much hair which can be challenging for some, but not for Nakeyia. She is so friendly, funny and confident. It was pure luck that we got her today!!! THANK YOUUUU Nakeyia, it was such a pleasure to watch you work your magic, I am truly impressed!! It's horrible, the lady that did my service was really nice but you could tell she didn't know what she was doing! This location is honestly a joke. Like, you can tell from the second you try to park. There are not enough parking spots, and there's no real plan to fix it. Just trying to show up to school is a whole nightmare by itself. And good luck getting your kit. We see huge deliveries come in, then the stuff just disappears. Nobody gives us what we paid for. They made Travis a "lead," whatever that's supposed to mean, but he doesn't make sure we get anything. He doesn't even enforce dress code, and half the time he doesn't look professional himself. He's literally outside smoking with students on break. Pretty sure educators aren't supposed to be doing that?? Yvonne barely leaves her office and honestly acts like she couldn't care less if we ever get our supplies. The building itself is falling apart too, and no one seems to care at all. I know Bellus has other locations and people say they're better, but honestly? I doubt it. Save yourself the headache and just don't come here. read more

If you keep in mind that these are services done by students and expect that they will take roughly twice as long as professional services, the services are excellent. Their prices and specials cannot be beat and the variety of services they offer is impressive. I booked a Gentleman's Facial as a Father's Day surprise for my hubby and am excited to try a European facial for myself and nail art by Machelle. Paola did my coloring supervised by Ms. P who is a color whiz. Paola has the class and confidence of a professional and was really fun to talk with. Full highlights on my shoulder length hair took 4 hours and was $65. Roshelle did my cut which I LOVE. She graduates this week so she had virtually no instructor oversight. She was cautious about the length, blending and made sure I was comfortable during my service, even bringing me water. She has exceptional attention to detail.
