I decided this was the summer to re-do my patio/yard, and I asked a friend for a recommendation of a full service landscaping company. I wanted to deal with 1 company/individual for the design, planting, irrigation and lighting. This is difficult to find. I admired my friend's yard and the artistic areas that have different levels, plants, rock, etc. It was very artistic in addition to being drought tolerant and having varied types of plants. Bello's Landscaping did not disappoint. Ami and his crew did an amazing job in my patio/yard. Also, the few large plants I kept are doing so much better and look healthier/green. He used rock in interesting ways, combined succulents with traditional tropical plants, and everyone I've had over to see it thinks it's amazing. I told Ami he exceeded my expectations, and I'm glad I trusted his instincts and experience. My irrigation and lighting are much better, too. I had one new plant that didn't do well, and Ami came and replaced it. Initially, things were not getting enough water, and we worked through that. Generally, when I text Ami he responded quickly. I did have to wait a week to have him come back on something, but I know he has some very large clients. On the whole, he is very responsive, listens to what you want and comes as quickly as possible to take care of it. His company now does my monthly maintenance. Ami is a great and honest person, and as I say his work exceeded my expectations. Absolutely include him in your vendor selection. Ami started a landscaping project in May, saying it will take 2-3 weeks. Consistently didn't show up when he said he would, asked for money for items and equipment that never came ( plants, lighting, mulch, etc), did a totally unprofessional job of planting. Finally had to fire him in AUGUST. Found out he is unlicensed, which is required by law so I will be filing a complaint with the California Contractor's Board. Suing him for breach of contract. Now I have to hire a legit landscaper to finish his shoddy work. Don't hire him. I'm left with a backyard slope full of holes with no plants in them. read more

It started off great but half way through he began gaslighting us, postponing his date of completion and then lying about doing the work. He took our money and did not complete the work, stopped responding to phone calls and texts. Left all of his crap in our yard and owes us over a grand of work. It's been over 6 months and my backyard still looks like a disaster. I really wanted to like this guy and support a local business but this has been a horrible experience that I regret. read more

I am truly sorry for hiring Bello's. Leaking irrigation, dying plants, slate stones are moving, the grass prep he did was incomplete, and he left 10 gal holes under the weed paper instead of filling them when he moved plants!!!! Ankle brakers!!! When I brought this to the owner's attention he said that he did everything correctly, and will not come and fix any of the issues his "workers" Created. He stated see you in court!!!!! We feel robbed. I will only hire licensed contractors going foreword, we gave this guy all the cash we had and let us down, maybe next year we can fix it. I needed a new front yard and was getting quotes way out of our budget. Bellos Landscaping came in under our budget and by the time all was said and done we got what we wanted and on budget. Amin took the time to meet us at rock quarries and nurseries to get an idea of what we wanted. They were respectful of our house and time. I did not have to manage much once we both understood the scope. You will get what you like at a fair price. Our project took about two weeks longer than we were looking at, but one of those weeks was our doing by making some changes and additions. I needed 3 trees removed. 2 palm trees(14ft tall each) which were smashing my rain gutters on my house and one tall(18ft) tree which was leaning over my house. If you are a micro manager using Bello's might be ok. Ami is a nice guy but he does not show up regularly to supervise. Also, the guys he uses do not show up and when they do they seem confused on the scope of work. Something that should take a few days REALLY drags on. I suspect he is juggling other jobs and depending upon the money he is getting elsewhere, you will be put on the back burner. The guys he uses are not professional. They are constantly on their cell phone...constantly, they leave litter and do not clean up. Also, they appear not to have too much experience. Just one of MANY examples but they put drip lines under the weed fabric (doh! how do I get to them when I need to!) and when called out on it they had to redo the whole thing. You have to be there and check everything they are doing. Ami asks for money up front and regularly explaining he needs to buy things or pay his guys. If you want a contractor that has the financial depth to take on a project and then you pay only upon satisfied completion then Bello's is not for you. You need to be prepared to constantly supervise, end the project on a daily basis if you don't like what is going on, and constantly discuss money with Ami to make sure everything is clear to avoid any misunderstandings. Also, he does not have a contractor's license so probably better to only do small jobs with this company. read more

I had an irrigation leak and needed immediate service since I originally thought the leak came from the main line so I has very worried about wasting water and a huge water bill from the City of Oceanside.. While everyone else I looked up was not available on Saturday and with more rain forecasted through mid-week, I has feeling very desperate that the leak would not be fixed for several more days. I called Bello's Landscaping and Ami, the owner, was at the house ready to diagnose and fix the problem immediately. His troubleshooting skills are amazing and the leak was fixed within an hour and his price was very reasonable. After completing the job, I learned that Amin designs and installs soft rock and drought tolerant plants. Based on the photos I saw of his work, he has an amazing talent this type of landscape and I will be working with him this spring/summer to convert our conventional landscape to "zeroscape". read more
