OMG, they quoted over $300 per hour for labor. Who in their right mind would even consider paying that much for anything.

After booking, Bellhops wasn't able to find a crew, so they needed to move my immovable move date to 2 days later. I was left scrambling with less than 48 hours until I needed to move. Nothing quite like the panic and stress of needing to find a company that could provide 6 men and 2 trucks that fast. Luckily, I found a much more reputable company that isn't trying to make a huge profit just for coordinating movers on your behalf. Find a nice local company yourself. I got a great mover for 40% cheaper! Yes. Nearly half the price. They're gouging you. read more

I paid my deposit and applied a Groupon for what was supposed to be a 4 man 1 driver 1 truck move taking 4 hours. Only 3 men showed up and one of them left halfway through. The 4 hours turned into nearly 9. My new apartment and furniture was damaged. They never applied the Groupon, gave me the runaround via phone and email, never sent the reimbursement form they said they would, and ended up charging me more than double what we'd agreed on. Even better, I filed a chargeback and today the bank sided with THEM, overdrafted my checking to reimburse them, and completely emptied my savings to cover the fees. I was livid in May and I'm livid all over again six months later. Save yourself. read more

We booked a move with Bellhop and the day before the move they called to say they did not have a truck. They asked me if I would rent a truck and the they would provide the movers!! WHAT!! The movers showed up, the boss of the team showed up about an hour late. The movers did not have a clue about how to move furniture, and they reminded me of the keystone cops. They were ill prepared and came without enough blankets to protect the furniture which was knicked and scratched in multiple places. The plastic wrap rolls they used are probably somewhat expensive which is puzzling why they left a few rolls behind. No respect for company assets. Bottom line, Bellhop was totally unprofessional & poorly trained. I would strongly urge customers to look elsewhere unless they want they move totally screwed up. read more

Under no circumstances should you choose to move with Bellhop. I made reservations for a residential move with Bellhop on a Sunday at 2 PM. My estimated total was approximately $850 for five hours. On the day of my reservation, at 2:30, I called customer service to see where my movers were at & to get an ETA. I was put on a 15-minute hold that forwarded my call to voicemail. I tried again and successfully connected with customer service. I was told that the movers were wrapping up a move and would be on the way shortly, approximately 4-4:30. By this time, it was 3:45. At 5 pm, I called customer service again to see the hold-up. I was told that the drivers had just wrapped up the last move and were on the way; the customer service representative told me to expect the movers around 5:30. Notice the pattern? At 6, I called customer service again and was told that the director over my reservation would reach out to me. After waiting 20 minutes, i received a call and was informed that the movers would not be coming. An entire day was wasted. I've worked in customer service my entire adult life. I get that things happen. But Bellhop was the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. There was a snowstorm across the entire Midwest a day before our move. Because of this we were worried our move would be canceled or rescheduled. We reached out to the company and they reassured us that the movers would still be there but they wanted to push the move time from 8am to 9am. No problem. The day of our move 9am rolls around and no movers are anywhere to be seen. We called for an update. We were told they were getting us an ETA and the driver had confirmed he would be there. 10am comes and goes, 11am, noon. We are constantly having to call and ask for updates. We are constantly being told they have people ready and are wasting for an update. No one is keeping us in the loop unless we call them. And we have new homeowners moving into our old house in less than 24 hours. Finally we are told they would like to reschedule the move to the next day because they have only one driver & one mover to help us out. At this point it's noon. We have been sitting around for hours. We have our entire life packed in boxes and our furniture disassembled. And again, new homeowners moving into the home in the morning. The snow is melted and roads are cleared by now so snow was a non issue. We also didn't trust they would even send anyone the next day. So we told them to go ahead and send the driver and the one mover. We called around and got some of our friends to help us out. The truck and mover showed up a little after 1pm and we all spent the next 6 hours loading the moving truck ourselves. The driver & loader that showed up were amazing. So helpful and professional. They showed up the text group chat with all the other movers. They had all texted in around 2am that morning to let our moving coordinator know they wouldn't be coming in. So Ben (the coordinator) left us hanging for hours with no answers knowing he had no movers. And again, we understand things happen. But we were lied to multiple times and told people were coming when they never were. We would have respected honesty way more. So in the end not everything fit onto the truck. Likely because we had a bunch of amateurs loading it who didn't know how to Tetris things in. So what does Bellhop do? Absolutely nothing. They told us they would not send out another truck. Even if we were willing to pay for it. We had a garage full of stuff that we had to clear out of the house before 9am the next morning. So we were forced to rent a uhaul and load all of that stuff ourselves. Bellhop gave us a discount that was laughable given the insane lack of customer service that was provided. Lies, no communication & complete unprofessional behavior by the people in office. The discount didn't even cover the cost of the uhaul we had to rent, let alone the the gas for it or hotel we had to pay for because it was 11pm by the time this day was over. Thankfully our drop off went smoothly. Because of the driver, Gary. He coordinated with the unloaders to make sure that they showed up at the correct time and the correct location. Because shocker, they had the incorrect time & location and no one would answer our phone calls to confirm in office. The guys that unloaded were great. Professional, on time & great attitudes. However, I would NEVER consider using this company again. They were an absolute nightmare to work with and they absolutely don't care about their customers. Very disappointing! Movers broke items while loading and transfer. Some furniture arrived dirty due to inappropriate covering during transfer.Was charged extra 1000$ was told because the driver didn't log his hours and an agent will call me after resolving the issue and no one called. Absolutely terrible experience in June 2021. One of the two movers just never showed up. Then they spent an hour trying to find a second mover. Finally a second mover showed up 2 hours late. They damaged my wall during the move. They didn't bring the right tools to disassemble my bed, so i had to hire a second service to come disassemble that and pay out of my own pocket. Then on top of all this they had the audacity to charge me for those additional two hours and they would not help resolve my issue through their customer service despite my multiple attempts with calls and emails. My experience with this company has been a nightmare! I'm a single 62 year old woman, i bought a new home and needed to move from Bloomfield Hills to Dearborn Heights. I booked the move date with Bellhops. The girl on the phone told me that it would take 3 hours to move my 2 bedroom condo to my new home. So we booked 4 hours to be in the safe side. Two young men, (early 20s) arrived in time. I had everything packed and stacked by the front door. Each box was labeled what room it was going to at the new house. Fragile items were labeled fragile. All small furniture was padded and shrink wrapped. The only pieces not wrapped were the large furniture pieces. The girl who booked my appointment told me they come equipped with moving blankets/ bubble wrap etc. when the young men arrived at 9 they told me they had to get busy right away, because they both had to be at their "real" jobs by 2. It became apparent that they had NO experience as movers. They were throwing the boxes that said fragile, they dropped many items on the way to the truck, they were setting their tools on top of my furniture and not utilizing the moving blankets, even though I told them many times they needed to. They put my ivory Drexel Herritage sectional on its side and slid it into the wood bottoms truck. They threw all the sofa cushions onto the dirty wood bottom too. When the truck was about half full they said they had to leave. They moved so slow and stood around talking most of the time they were there. Instead I'd carrying a couple used tens at a time, they would make a trip to the truck carrying only a small 5lb item at a time. I was carrying more than they were to the truck. Those men left and called in another crew. All in all it took 13.5 hours to move a small 2 bedroom condo! I was in tears and in pain by the time they left! None of my boxes made it to the rooms they were labeled to go in. I finally found the box with my bras/panties/socks/nighties in the garage!! The worst part of the move is that they damaged nearly every piece of furniture! They only give you 5 days (including move day) to report any and all damages. Today I found out that they only pay .60 cents per pound for each damaged item. AND they have a list of how many pounds they think each item should be. They cracked the granite on the top of my long dresser. My dresser is very heavy, but their standard for a dresser is 30 lbs. So, how will I have my granite replaced for $18?? They also charged my credit card for 3 times the amount they told me it would be. I've had to file a police report, call my bank and hire a lawyer. This company isn't even in Michigan, even though they say they are local. They are in TN and CA. They hire people with trucks and movers, there is no training or or experience given or required. If you've had a good experience, you're lucky. BEWARE of this company!! When I called to complain, the owner, in CA told me it was a successful move. I told him there was nothing successful about it. It took 13.5 hours for a 4 hr job and most of my items are damaged. He said I hired them to move my items and my items are in fact at the new home. read more

Not only did they schedule my appointment incorrectly all their employees call into work and never show up. Leaving me stranded last minute without movers before moving out of state. Missed communications is a understatement after talking to at least 4 people who should've stop taking calls and start moving furniture. My suggestion to anyone your better off close your eyes and pick any random moving company before choosing Bellhop more like IHOP. Horrible!!! Moving started with 2 guys.. then few others joined. Moved half of the items first day. Ruined almost everything.. furniture, exercise machine dissembled .. dinnerwares shattered..couches & mattresses were soiled & stained.. they promised to come back next day to continue.. one person showed up the next day. Then comes another person after an hour. Neither of them were the ones who took apart my beds or treadmill.. they put it back.. have dead treadmill, not so sturdy tables, beds.. the messiest move ever!! They received the full payment but as far as the damage they have caused.. they say they will pay per pound.. the cost of all the damaged goods don't matter to them, just weight of the items their "pros" ruined. The price I pay for their unorganized move!!! Still going back & forth for thecompensation!! PLEASE DON'T HIRE THEM IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR MOVING TO BE A NIGHTMARE!! read more
