Needless to say, the search was discouraging, and I was about to forget it and carry on as I have been until I came across Wildflower Speech Therapy. Allison Elium is fantastic! She's quick to reply via email, and I had an appointment setup within days of contacting her. Her approach is direct yet soothing, and educational without coming across condescending (stutters can be quite sensitive to things like that.) She emails me articles I might find interesting or informative and I do the same with her. Her demeanor is so kind and relaxing that I find myself speaking freely to the point that she'll ask me to force a stutter so we can work on it in the office. Heidi, our speech therapist, and Chris, our O.T., have done wonders with our little guy. We have not only seen great progress with our son ever since he's been going there (over 6 months), but he truly loves going to "play" with his therapists. We can only imagine the progress we will see in the next 6 months! They also accept most insurance, so the billing process has been extremely easy. He sees a variety of people (speech, ot, feeding) and they mix it up a bit. they embrace seeing the kiddos when they are disregulated and help you work through it. we've been elsewhere and told....let us know when he's ready to work. feels like a partnership. big growth year for him! at school we were able to take a bunch of goals off his iep since he met them already. i credit the work at ACS for getting him to those goals. we still have a long journey but wow the progress, the people, the kindness, and the care. our family feels supported.
