Haha, being here is never a great time, we are not really customers so service is not really a focus, I will rate according to my previous experiences at Norwalk. Here to complete my civil obligation and answer the call for Jury Duty. Star loss because I am used to the Norwalk courthouse that has a larger "corral" for us potential jurors and has many more little cubicles for people to still do work. This jury farm room has but two library-esque tables and that's it. Free Wi-Fi but it runs super slow. No cafeteria, just vending machines and you go through a security scan at entrance. If you are here for jury duty, bring stuff with you to do. This room has nothing but chairs like a mini theater without the main feature and the tables I mentioned. Food in the area? (This is still Yelp, right??) I am going to try that Koo-Koo grill place and if I am here longer, naturally a trip to Taco Nazo is warranted which never disappoints. The check in guards at the entrance have way too much time on their hands. They get a nice fat juicy County check every month just to act as if they're still in junior high school. How easy it is to stand at the entrance like zombies all day gabbing away nonsense about their personal lives or picking some people out at the door and giving them a hard time just for their own entertainment purposes because they have nothing else better to do. These people are old and should know better. Disrespecting or harassing a visitor because they didn't take off their belt at the entrance is how these overpaid good for nothing zombies get attention. It must hurt them to know that people go there to conduct business and don't want to see them. So they have to make noise like a kid to be noticed. read more

I had to show up to the Bellflower Courthouse for Jury Duty. This is after showing up to the Norwalk Courthouse. Bellflower Courthouse needed Jurors for a criminal case, so we were all transferred over to the Bellflower Courthouse. We first got there and waited for an hour. Diane the Jury person in charge, had no idea where we were? Idiot! If she had only gotten up out of her chair and look down the hall we were all there. Then the next day we had to show up at 10:45 AM. After waiting a half hour the bailiff comes out and states, "we're sorry running a little late". No prob, we wait some more. 11:30 bailiff returns again with another sorry, we are not going to need you at this time but come back at 1:30 PM. Just a heads up, try NOT to end up at this Courthouse, complete waist of time. Not sure who to blame because there could be numerous factors and I understand. However, never had any issues being a Juror at the Compton Courthouse nor in LA and those Courthouses are much busier and larger. Compton and LA were very functional and carried on with no snags. read more

I wanna share you my experience today on the Wi-Fi. It's amazing. Fast and reliable. J/K I went in there for a traffic ticket - single occupancy in a carpool lane. I was pulled over by CHP in a Ford SUV in February of this year off the 605, during morning rush hour. Cop is a tall white guy with cropped hair. I vowed to fight it as I did my previous tickets. I had great success with my other two speeding tickets, one at a court in DTLA and another at West Covina. This time around it was for a non moving violation so I expected nothing but the same luck that the cop will not show. My arraignment was in late August at the 5pm court. Long day as there were around 20-30 people at that time. Trial date was set for Oct 6, at 1.30pm. I picked the Friday afternoon trial date thinking officers will most likely have plans on a Friday afternoon and won't bother to show. A quick roll call showed there were 8 cases to be heard, surprisingly the vast majority were Asians... I didn't have that experience during the arraignment. Good thing only 2 cops showed. One in full CHP brown uniform, who I didn't recognize, and the other a tall lanky officer in a dark suit with red ties. Perhaps Trump-inspired. He looked like he was going to a job interview... Nice and tidy. Couldnt remember if he was the same one that pulled me over but I waited with baited breath. First case was a no-show. The defendant had severe physical disability but he was involved in a near collision with a CHP officer. Surprisingly officer didn't show. Lucky him. So were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. There was a female lawyer that showed up and was briefly congratulated by some of us for winning a case for her client. One person had the uniformed officer and he quickly pleaded no contest, and opted for the $490 fine instead of 20 hours community service in Long Beach. Who wants that... Anyway, my turn came and sure enough, the officer was mine. Judge asked if I wanted to move forward with the trial and I quickly pivoted to a no-contest with a request for lowered fines. The judge reminded me that my violation did not result in points and not dangerous in nature but rude. Rude violation :) She briefly mentioned to me the officer showed up nicely for my case on a Friday afternoon and asked him if he had any objection to lowering of the fine, to which he said "No, your honor". She duly declared that my fine is thus reduced from $490 to $367 (a whopping 25% discount!!!) and I replied "Thank you, your honor, I appreciate it". Paid the fine with my credit card, which took a while since they had to send a runner twice to get my court paperwork. All in all, I was the unlucky case and third time was not the charm for me. Bottom line: you have 75% chance of a no-show and if you are the unlucky 25%, ALWAYS ask for a fine reduction. Your wallet will thank you for it... read more

I had to show up for jury duty today. Jury duty is what it is, and I was home again by 2:00pm, apparently they decided not to go forward with the trial we got called in for. My review is for the lady who did the juror orientation. Diane. I'm guessing she does this every day, but she never once seemed like she was reading off a set of instructions. She was friendly, and she seemed very comfortable speaking to the group. She had a lot of info to get through and she was clear and detailed. I just got the impression that she likes her job and likes coming to work and you just don't run into a lot of that these days. read more

Dear Bellflower Superior Court, You get uno star for not hassling me at the entrance. The metal detector went off, but the security guard let me through anyway. I'm no magician, but I don't blame him for doubting my size 1 shorts' lack of weapon-concealing capability. I went in to check on the status of a refund that they owed my boyfriend for a wrongfully issued traffic ticket and stood confused at the cashier's counter receiving the run around about how the check was actually mailed months ago. "On Call" but not willing to excuse people working overseas...I can not be "on call" for a week and "still go to work each day" as they suggest in the summons... Facilities: No more Juror hangout/lobby/waiting room, cost cutting measures. No place to sit except stone benches in hallway. No food on site. No snacks on site. read more

definitely not a fan, one of the sheriff who serves as a bailiff for Department 1 is so unkind and just blatantly rude. The judge for this department talked fast as to rush people didn't allow you to state your case fully and hear you out. she tacks on fees just because she can instead of based on the case and circumstances. Definitely not a fan of this location or the people in charge. Even the cashiers tell you they are busy when its your turn to pay then stare at you, and never state when they are ready to help you. Even the security guards have a bad habit of shouting at people about food or beverages in the hallway instead of just approaching them, its like they want to make a scene and embarrass people publically. read more

If you get a ticket, unfortunately, and decide you would like to "fight" it, make sure to schedule your appearance in the am hours. Don't plan to appear at 1:30 pm bc you'll wait an hour for no good reason (thanks to an obsolete system) and they. will. make. sure. to show up. They're very orchestrated in this process. This is the worst courthouse to attend next to the Los Angeles Court building. These ppl try to charge you with the most severe outcome for simple misdemeanors, their public defenders don't answer nor return phone calls or let alone respect a client. These people here are not professional and are very rude when asked a simple question such as "Have I been called for court yet." read more

This is a four story courthouse building, next to the Library and also next to the Department of Health. Entrance is on the second floor, and that always causes confusion. The bottom floor is the Sheriff's Department and the Jail for persons in custody of the Sheriff, and when people leave, they assume the exit is on the first floor. As a result, they end up in a jail and it causes no end of confusion. The court clerk's office is small and cramped, and usually has a long(ish) line. Best to come early in the morning or Friday mornings if you need anything done here. The courtrooms are aged, but roomy and work well. Overall a nice court, but needs upgrades of the restrooms and courtrooms. read more

It's near the library and a county health building. No matter why you're here - bring a book or something to take up your attention. I've always wondered why some people get summoned for jury duty and others never do. I know potential jurors are pooled from driving and voter registration records. All I know is that for those of us who have to work for a living, jury duty can be a MAJOR life disruption! I just completed a 4-day jury duty service at this courthouse in Bellflower. It seems that whenever I get summoned, I almost ALWAYS get picked to serve on a jury panel. I guess I just have an honest demeanor about me [eyes rolling]. I've been summoned to the Bellflower courthouse twice before. The one nice thing this courthouse has going for it is that it's only a few miles from where I live. The other nice thing it has going for it is that it has very ample free parking in the parking garage located behind the city library. The entrance to this courthouse is on the second floor. Upon entering, it's like going through airport security. You have to empty the contents of your pockets into a plastic tub that goes through an x-ray machine. Then you step inside while a security guard waves a metal detection device around your body. Compared to the Compton courthouse, the interior of the Bellflower courthouse is clean and (relatively) modern. I've always seen a janitor cleaning the windows or sweeping the floors there. The interior of the courtroom where the trial I sat on was held was clean and comfortable. The jury deliberation room felt a bit claustrophobic to me but it was also clean and comfortable, and included a water fountain and restrooms. A couple of interesting things I found while walking the hallway was that at the far end of one of the floors, I noticed there were restrooms for courthouse employees ONLY (need a key to use them) and an elevator used by courthouse employees (need a key card). This courthouse, unfortunately, does not have a snack bar or cafeteria on the premises, but there are vending machines on the third floor (selling VERY expensive snacks). Being that this is usually the courthouse I get summoned to for jury duty, I should be thankful I've never been summoned to downtown Los Angeles. read more

This place is like any other courthouse, but the four stars are for Shallottie at the clerks office. I have been here twice and both times was helped by her. She is very friendly and doesn't have a boring attitude like most clerks. I had a great conversation with her about life while she was assisting me with paperwork. WellI wasn't impressed. I was directed to wait in line for traffic school. Then the girl went on lunch 2 people before I reached the window . So we continued to stay in line not being told otherwise. As I approached the next teller when it was my turn he responded that he only handled criminal not traffic. And that the girl who handled traffic was out to lunch . So after wasting my time in line for 1 hour I was directed to the other side where they now accepted traffic tickets Except It was a different line and people were already in another line ahead of thee people who were just told to get back in a new line.. Horrible horrible horrible. And the employees are like DMV workers .. Must be nice to have a union job that we the tax payers pay for and are treated like 2nd class citizens. Just a nightmare I do not recommend going into the court. Go on line and pay your ticket you can skip the bad attitude and the waste of time. read more

Mr. JD back on the scene with another courthouse review. This court house has definitely fallen on some hard times. :(. This court mostly handles criminal and traffic matters. All small claims and civil cases have been moved to other courthouses. Fortunately, there is plenty of free parking. To my knowledge there is no cafeteria here but there are a few places to eat around the court house. Unfortunately, the lines are always massive so come early if you want to be done early. They don't have wifi, seats are stiff as a rock, security seemed to take out inner grudges deeply stemmed within their personal life out on those who enter their field of work. I have been trying to call this courthouse for 4 days now, I requested a "trial" in my petty traffic stop as I thought I was going to be in CA longer and I had to leave back to MA earlier than my date because of family matters, I am trying to pay the ticket but I can't get ahold of anyone! This place is a joke. I felt like a complete idiot for going to trial when clearly its all a setup, the judge the cops the DA ect EVERYBODY there is so suspicious and rude that I was beyond disbelief! Some of the things they do here im sure are illegal but because everybody backs each other up, theres no consequences to their actions. Long story short; its all a big scam and ill never believe in a fair jury trial, or the legal system again. I had Jury duty there yesterday. The parking structure is absolutely disgusting. The stairway is filthy and in dire need of a cleaning and maybe a good paint job. At the bottom of the stairs was a shopping cart with someone's meager belongings. It was so gross I was afraid to touch the handrails. If they expect us to due our civic duty the least they can do is keep things clean. read more
