Every instructor here brings many years of experience in classical Pilates (using Gratz equipment), and it shows in the quality, precision, and care they bring to each session. I'm still pretty new to Pilates -- have been a client for ten months, and the results have been noticeable. I've seen definite improvement in core strength, balance, posture, flexibility and overall body awareness that carries into all the other things I love--running, dancing, hiking, and skiing. I've been really enjoying attending the Semi-Private Series at Bellevue Pilates. I am not flexible, I am usually far from being able to touch my toes... but after attending one class I could touch my toes! It is a beginner's class and I love how the instructor is very professional, customizing the workout to my needs and what I can do. What more can I say, Pilates rocks! Pilates rocks and this is the *only* place to take classic Pilates instruction in the Seattle/Eastside area. I have been doing Pilates for almost 1.5 years and it has made tremendous improvements in my flexibility, strength, and weightlifting form. You just cannot achieve these improvements so quickly through any other practice in my opinion. I really encourage more guys to give it a try, it will make huge differences in how you feel, your posture, and overall strength for other sports. Nancy maintains a great team, an intimate and superbly clean studio. It really is impressive. All instructors are classically trained and have been actively practicing Pilates for several years. You will never be bored. Each instructor, while adhering to common principles brings a unique approach to each client based on their capabilities, desired goals, and their own specific insights for the individual. I have worked with many of the instructors and they are all absolutely awesome. They are all super friendly, challenging, detail-oriented, and above all invested in your progression in Pilates. With dedication and consistency you will find what are initially *very* difficult positions and movements become second nature. I haven't been doing pilates very long, but I wouldn't call myself a beginner. I found this studio through Classpass. The space is intimate; only 4 people total so there's a great amount of attention from the instructor. Today's session was called Joe's Tower Class, but our instructor was Jed. He has a great teaching style and changed up the positions and moves quite often, so it definitely wasn't boring. Next time I'll probably attend a cardio class somewhere else before coming here...it felt more like stretching than an actual workout. Just my opinion and style. I will need a warm up beforehand so I don't injure myself. I'm really looking forward to exploring the different class styles. They have free parking and socks to use in case you don't bring any (like me). read more

The studio may have just opened up so this is why my review isn't up there with the stars and all...Truth be told, I wasn't impressed at all. Their schedule is emailed to you instead of on a website where you can pint it out or something, so they email it to you, but the problem is the classes get full a lot so they problem is you can't find a group class that'll ever fit in your schedule if you have a regular 9-5 ...hmmmm. Also, I don't know about this but from a hygienic stand point are dogs supposed to be in a gym? The owner or manager brought her huge dog to the gym, I kind of thought, oh that shows she doesn't have her schedule together if she has to bring a dog to work. Another thing, the instructors didn't seem like they had a pilates state of mind. I mean mine didn't even have a pilates body and her class was boring. I've been to several pilates places, and recently the woman I went to retired, so I gave this place out. Let me say that as someone who has done pilates for SEVERAL years, I understand how some people in the field are elitists, I can look through that. When I came in, I was told that they could not honor the Yelp I had, because no one was here who knew how to run the register. That was okay, I paid. But what was horrible was how I was told everything I had learn at the other places I have gone to was wrong, I had horrible form, that I wasn't good enough to do the group classes, etc. I thought maybe it was be, but after talking to a few other people who've been there (and their previous business, Core Pilates), they seem to treat everyone the same way. I even contacted the owner, and never received a response. I tried contacting her again about the Yelp deal, and surprise! No response. I signed up for a boot camp class with a mixture of pilates. I figured i was in for light mat and boot camp moves right? I was surprised when I went to this studio and got more than I ever expected. I have taken pilates from 3 other studios and never had the work out I had here from only a 1/2 hour session with Nancy. Nancy is the owner and is hands down the best instructor I have ever met. "Warning do not try this at home". There is a reason she is a trained professional. They will make you sweat til you bleed well not that bad but this is not for the faint at heart. If you think you are going to get a light workout with some stretching stay home and watch Jane Fonda. If you want to redefine your whole body, have a strong core and get rid of your saddle bags listen to everything Nancy says. She truly cares about her clients and it shows! My first day after my class I had home work? Home work? When was the last time your instructor cared enough about you or your workout to send you home with home work? Nancy and her staff want you to learn from them and apply everything they teach you to help support your core throughout your daily life. Pull the stomach In and up I kept reminding myself of this so much that by the time I went back 2 days later for my second class my ribs hurt. The studio is conveniently located, they have parking. I would say that anyone looking for a challenging workout that will lengthen and lean out their body should check out Core Pilates in Bellevue. I LOVE this studio. I've been seeing Jed twice a week for personal Pilates for about a year and a half now and it's helped me SO much. Jed is super knowledgable and is the best pilates instructor I've ever had. (I went through two others from different studios before settling on him.) I've been recommending him to all of my friends. My husband is now seeing him, too. I was pregnant last year and had a lot of pelvic & SI pain. Jed helped me to strengthen and target the specific muscles that would help with alleviating the pain. By the second trimester, most of the pain had gone away and I had gotten back a significant amount of motion and strength back. Since I was pregnant, it was difficult because I was limited in what I could do. (The pregnancy itself was limiting, and my pain was also a limiting factor.) Jed is very good at what he does. He was able to work around my limitations and always offered several different exercises that could target the same muscle/area we were trying to work. I'm pretty sure the pilates contributed to an easy labor and delivery as well. I labored for about 4.5 hours total and pushed the baby out in less than 10 minutes. I felt VERY strong in my pelvic floor/core. In fact, this funny thing happened after the delivery: the nurse was pressing down hard on my abdomen, trying to ascertain where my uterus was and she initially commented that she was having trouble finding it. She pressed down several times and still could not find it. She was confused for a minute, then said, "ah, it's because you have amazing abs and they are blocking your uterus!" I was floored by this because that's the last thing you expect to hear after just giving birth! I took 8 weeks off from doing pilates after giving birth and the labor itself gave me a lot of back pain. I was on heavy pain killers for 5 weeks! When I was finally cleared to work out again, I immediately went back to Jed. In just 2-3 short weeks, I felt like I regained most of my strength again and the pain virtually went away. I'm five months post partum now and still seeing Jed twice a week. I feel stronger than ever and have lost most of the baby weight. I attribute bouncing back so quickly to all of the maintenance work we did before the birth and throughout the pregnancy. I'm a firm believer of Pilates doing miracles for your body and I intend on continuing to see Jed indefinitely! read more

I just had my first Pilates experience a few days ago, and I enjoyed it so much, at the end of the 50 minutes I decided to sign up for a series of classes. We were four girls in the class, and the instructor was very sweet, attentive, made sure everyone was positioned correctly at all times, she gave great feedback, and made it fun. Also, Jaci at the front desk was very helpful and bubbly, and she made sure to ask everyone how they liked the workout...the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I didn't see a sign for the studio from the main street, but it's actually in the Masins Furniture building, and you can just park in the garage...pretty easy and convenient. I've been thinking for a while now about trying Pilates, so I'm excited I've found this studio, and just looking forward to the challenging workouts to come! :) read more

I love this studio!!! This is the real deal, the "Joseph Pilates" based work, not some abstract variation. I've trained with a small nunber of the Joseph Pilates based studios in the SF Bay area and it is crucial I believe to train in this method for the most effective results. Do your research on line! The others don't push you nor do they drive home the core Pilates principals (created by Joseph) that make this the very best workout to provide core strength while elongating your muscles. All this with the wonderful mind-body and breathe awareness needed to articulate your spine and to call to action the right core muscles verse other larger groups, like hip flexors and quads that want to take over and do the work. The staff is super knowledgeable and Nancy, the owner and also an instructor, has some revolutionary "Kangoolates" classes that are awesome cardio and core classes. Yes, Nancy's dog is there occasionally and such a sweet lady. Never in the way yet provides a touch of home. I moved to Bellevue in February and was searching for a Pilates studio that has all the major equipment. This was a struggle. I was very happy to have found Nancy Wallace Pilates. My experience has been excellent. I also have been able to work out with many of the instructors. They have all had my well being in mind as we work through the program. Knowing that I cannot do (or do not like!) certain "poses" (like the Tree on the reformer!), they offer alternatives that provide the same stretch/workout but done in different ways. I moved here last summer and was looking for a new pilates studio. I was referred to Nancy Wallace Pilates and thought I would give it a try. They teach a traditional Contrology which was a bit different than the Balanced Body and Stott pilates that I had done previously. It took a few months of adjusting to new methods and trying out different instructors to find a perfect fit for me. Every instructor is good for a different reason. I personally like to be challenged and have found that Susanne is the instructor for me! She makes every class different so your body is continuously challenged. This place is OK. Super responsive over email, and a nice private location. But when I got there, the instructor didn't seem to know who I was even though I had told them I was coming. The class was only 4 people, but she didn't introduce herself or ask how I liked the class. I was shy coming in and felt a little out of place. They were not too pushy for me to sign up, which was nice. They have dogs in the studio, which is probably fun for most people - just not my cup of tea. I love this place. Like, seriously love it. As a former competitive athlete, I'm always looking for a challenging workout that isn't going to bore me. These ladies are amazing. I do a private and a semi-private lesson each week and they really listen to how I'm feeling and what I want to achieve that day. Feeling tired and tight? No problem. Want something to make me really sweat and totally re-shape my backside? No problem. Back flaring up and causing me pain? No problem. Each instructor is super knowledgeable and will push you to your limits. I work out with Misty, but I've worked with at least 5 different instructors in the 2 years I have been going there; all top notch. I have just started at this studio a few weeks ago. My instructor Kelsey is very knowledgeable and careful. I am over 50 and was returning to PIlates after several years away from it. I've had an ongoing neck issue that she adjusts my workout for and every time I go, it actually feels better! Kelsey gives clear directions that are easy to follow and is very hands on where needed which is also helpful to me. The studio is very clean and bright and airy. I'm new to Pilates. I've done yoga on and off over the past few years. I decided to give Pilates a try after a number of people suggested it as a way to manage the back issues (herniated L5/S1) I've dealt with over the past 5 years. I found Core Pilates on Yelp and read the reviews. I visited the studio and liked the laid back atmosphere (i.e. there was no hard sell on signing up or buying a package); I also liked the staff's obvious commitment and passion around Pilates. I decided to give it a try and have been doing Pilates at Core Pilates 2x/week for the past month. I absolutely love it! The brochure from the studio says that within 10 sessions: feel the difference, better posture, increased strength, feel more flexible, development a true understanding of the mind-body connection. I've experienced all of that. I attribute this partly to Pilates and but mostly to the great instruction that I'm receiving at Core Pilates. Any Pilates instructor can take you through a Pilates routine/workout - however, at Core Pilates I found that they really work to customize the workout around me and my needs. In addition, they've worked with me on my back issues to ensure that I don't re-injure my back. I've worked with Tracey, Raquel and Nancy - they've all been amazing! Let me start by saying that I have avoided exercise all my life. I started going to Nancy Wallacae Pilates in mid September, doing semi private lessons with Suzanne. I cannot say enough good things about this place! I am totally hooked and do not want to miss a lesson. Beginning with Michelle, Client Relations Manager, at the front desk. She is warm, enthusiastic, and goes above and beyond to help you schedule and make you feel welcome. From my first visit, she not only remembered my name, but asks about things we have talked about previously; dogs, job, etc. She always has a smile and a word of encouragement. My teacher, Suzanne, is amazing. I have had issues with my neck and so doing the exercises correctly is really important. Suzanne keeps an eagle eye on my form and posture at all times. She is always there to move a foot or arm into the right place. She is incredibly knowledgeable and is able to break exercises down to exactly the right place for me, while at the same time pushing me a little further. She is passionate about pilates and about teaching. Both of these show in every interaction I have with her. I was having trouble isolating the correct mucles so I went in for an extra session. She listened carefully to my concerns, and then went through the exercises with me until I felt like I understood how to correctly do each of them. I left feeling successful and looking forward to my next session. She never makes me feel rushed or uncoordinated. If all this isn't enough, she is really funny and the hour just flies by. Perhaps, the most telling indication of her brilliance as an instructor is that because of her (skill and knowledge) I have gone from a lifelong avoidance of exercise to someone who cannot wait to go back.
