As a first-time mother, the whole process of being pregnant is so exciting but can be truly overwhelming. After meeting Rachel, I immediately felt at ease and knew she was exactly what I was looking for in a support system. Her knowledge and expertise were so comforting and made the unknown of giving birth feel empowering. She gave me a calming sense of security in the birth process; I knew I was in good hands. Rachel is absolutely amazing; I cannot say enough fantastic things about her! Her prenatal visits, the actual birth of my daughter, and her outstanding postpartum care go above and beyond. Rachel and her team, Jessica and Lisa, are a wealth of knowledge and made my home birth a dream come true. I feel so blessed to have such amazing care from these women during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life, and I couldn't be more thrilled with their compassion, support, and over-all care to me and my little one. I am eternally grateful to this amazing team of women for bringing my beautiful baby girl safely, gently, and lovingly into this world. I love you all so much, and you will forever be a part of our family and in our hearts. If we are blessed with another bundle of joy, I know without a doubt, these women are the ones I want by my side.

I…read morefirst went early in my pregnancy for a prenatal massage because I was experiencing some SI pain and went back a few times for massages throughout my pregnancy because of how wonderful I felt after each one. Every encounter with the front desk and massage therapists left me feeling relaxed and like I got what I needed. I loved that the therapists were very knowledgeable about prenatal massages and I got a great massage/pressure. We also reached out to them for information about birth doulas, and we connected with Risa. Risa was incredibly helpful during our prenatal and labor times and as an outreach in postpartum. Being first-time parents, we had open conversations about what to expect with birth which helped us shape our preferences while knowing things could change at any time; they provided an incredible opportunity for us to ask questions and talk through concerns as we came closer to our due date; and when it came time for delivery, we knew exactly how to contact Risa and be sure of what we needed. At the hospital, having her by our side helped immensely through her vast knowledge and expertise. Risa kept us calm and ready with a positive, upbeat energy and helped navigate obstacles with our medical team as they came up and checked in with us postpartum to see how we were adjusting. We will absolutely recommend Risa to any friends looking for a doula.

That was over a year ago and my husband is doing ok. Still needs a good infectious disease doctor, but I have the feeling that is a rare thing.

It had been stressful to say the least. Most of our time had been spent in the rental car driving to see family from Columbus to Springfield to New Hampshire. By the last week I was drained. For the past 3+ years I have been fighting what had only in the last 3 months been diagnosed as "Valley Fever". It is a fungal infection common to the desert and areas of California. Doctors in our home area of Arizona, who should have been familiar with the symptoms, failed to correctly identify the problem. My wife, recognizing the fact that I was in no shape to go on, parked my butt in the emergency room at Blanchard Valley. The people there were great even though they were unfamiliar with "Valley Fever". Dr. Grace, the admitting doctor told us that "Blanchard Valley was truly blessed to have one of the best infectious disease doctors in the country". I'm thinking, "ok, bring him on, I want to meet this guy". Later that evening Dr. Ratnasamy came into my room and I realized that the admitting doctor knew what he was talking about. I have never felt so comfortable speaking to a doctor for the first time. You could tell that, maybe he doesn't see patients everyday with "Valley Fever" but he sure knew a lot about it. He took over my treatment and I saw him 3 more times before I was discharged. Actually he was the last person I saw that day. He gave me a full set of doctors notes and test results so I could take the back for my Arizona doctors. Ok, this impressed me. What really blew me away was the phone call I got from him last night, over a week since we arrived back home and almost 2 weeks since he had seen me in the hospital in Findlay. How many doctors would take the time to follow up on a patient that chances are they would never see again? Most around here don't even if they are your primary care doctor. Dr Ratnasamy said he was just closing out my file and wanted to check on how I was doing and what my local doctors had said. In my opinion, that's dedication. Dedication to what he does and who he does it for. The world needs more people like him.
