Valleyview Healthcare terminated a 14 yr loyal employee because she got terminal cancer. For 12 yrs…read moreher record was exemplary with awards, and bonuses, and metrics met every month even when others weren't meeting their metrics, and when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer they wrote up disciplinary actions until they could terminate her in a 2 yr period. Actually would have been sooner, but her superior gave her a write up for poor job performance, and a couple days later she was the only Business Office Manager to hit all her metrics for the month, so she ripped up the disciplinary actions. Couldn't square the circle of disciplinary action for poor performance when she was outperforming her peers. We knew then it was a matter of time. They were gunning for her. Well today was the day. If it wasn't bad enough she has terminal cancer, she caught COVID 2 weeks ago. She's been off on a mandatory quarantine, and today was her first day back. As soon as she arrived at work today they fired her. Absolutely disgusting people. Horrendous. I don't care what they say about disciplinary action, this an employee who went 12 yrs with "bulldog" awards, accolades, and bonuses to such poor performance according to them, that she was terminated for poor performance. What changed? She got terminal cancer, and had to take a lot of FMLA days for treatment, that's what changed, and the executive director fired her for it. Just a disgusting person. Imagine how much they care about family members, when they treat long term loyal employees with TERMINAL cancer like that? They don't care. I WOULD NOT recommend.

My father spent nearly three years at The Lakes of Sylvania. I buried my father yesterday. He was…read more98 years old. This staff was wonderful with dad. What most people need to realize, is the importance of building a relationship with the staff caring for your loved one. It is a team effort. This is a care facility. They cannot and should not be expected to give private duty nursing services. It is unrealistic for any facility to be expected to do this. You have to be willing to reach out to the staff and work with them. Come to them with concerns, but also realize a thank you goes a long way when you do this very hard work. I can't begin to thank the staff for the care dad received especially during his final days. I stayed with my dad to care for him and make sure he knew he was not alone. I believe that was my honor and duty, but this staff cared for me as well as my dad. The concern for my well being touched me to my core. I will not forget the compassion my father and I received by all the staff. The flower arrangement that was sent to the funeral home was so beautiful and very appreciated. Staff who became friends were there at the funeral home to support me and my family. Their concern did not stop as dad was taken from the facility. If you are looking for a facility to "team care" for your loved one, stop looking, the Lakes of Sylvania should be strongly considered. I will only refer folks to this facility.

The director, the nurses, the physical therapists, the chef, the cleaning department and various departments ALL provided the best of care possible. The communication which existed between Lakes of Sylvania and her family was also tremendous. Each day an updated Covid report was to be found in my email and a weekly video was posted to inform all families members of the events of the week. I was able the connect in person with the staff whenever I so desired. My dear one got the BEST of care and compassion from everyone within the walls of Lakes of Sylvania. I would give this campus my highest recomendation. I owe them my deepest gratitude.
