Belleville West High School is the place to be. With it's incredible atmosphere and diverse student/staff population it definitely stands out from the rest. At Belleville West we pride ourselves in the many extracurricular activities that we have that give every student a chance to get involved. We have clubs like Student Council, Spanish club, Hy News (the school's newspaper), VAMF (videogames, anime, manga, and fantasy), Harambe, WYSE (World Youth in Science and Engineering), and many more. Sports at Belleville West is also something that includes a good portion of the school's population. Even if students are not participating in the athletic game we are cheering on the sidelines with the biggest club in school Maroon Madnezz. Belleville West's Maroon Madnezz is the biggest student section in the area and continues the grow every year. Also at Belleville West you will find a large and full functioning Arts program. Belleville West is equipped with three Jazz ensembles, one jazz band, marching band, symphonic band, concert band, four treble choirs, one bass choir, two concert choirs, the Bellevillettes, and Maroon Majic. The curriculum at Belleville West opens up opportunities for students to learn in an education program of their choosing while also filling out their requirements to graduate. Overall the environment at Belleville West is one that is inviting and open to the students' imagination. As a student, I know my time at Belleville West has forever changed my life for the better. Belleville West is a huge school with over 2000 students, yet it always feels intimate and personal. Part of this stems from the fact that the large attendance allows for countless unique opportunities, giving everyone a chance to excel. With over 20 sports and more than 60 other various activities, there really is something for everyone to do outside of their classes. Various programs within the curriculum itself expose students to all sorts of different experiences and fields of education that can prepare them for any career imaginable. College promoters are always on campus, getting students ready to take the next steps of their lives. Teachers at Belleville West care about their students, helping them to succeed and pushing them to achieve. Fellow students are also very friendly. We all realize that we are in this together, and positivity makes school much easier on all of us. Belleville West also prepares students for the diversity of real life, as you encounter all sorts of people in its halls. This builds tolerance and cooperation amongst peers. In this way, Belleville West has become my second home. I wouldn't trade the memories I've made there for the world. read more

Belleville West is a place full of opportunity an education. When I first came to this school, I was nervous, because of the size. After attending west for a whole year the size seems normal, and actually helps out when it comes to learning and having fun. The countless extracurricular activities provide a place for every student to fit in. Personally, I am in the Belleville west Marching Band and a member of the Scholar Bowl team. These clubs are both exciting and perfect for me. For some people these activities are not suitable, but that is why Belleville West provides countless opportunities for everyone. We have clubs ranging from Football to videogames. I can assure you that Belleville West has something for everyone. The other wonderful thing about Belleville West is the education. Extracurricular are fun, but the reason everyone goes to school is to learn, and Bellville West definitely has that covered. The educators are wonderful. The teachers are very helpful when it comes to homework or tests. The school gives a wonderful opportunity; All you have to do is take it. Belleville West is a school that I really enjoy going to. I love working at Belleville West. The kids make me laugh, and I learn something new from them every day. I especially love the English Department. We won the Follett Challenge Grand Prize because we continually foster a love for reading and integrate that habit throughout the curriculum. We have done One Book, One School and One Book, One Team with both the football team and the boys basketball team. Our kids can receive enough AP credit equivalent to one-plus years of college. We show incredible growth with kids who struggle with reading and writing skills. Our kids at the top are well prepped for competitive top universities. Our teachers care. I feel confident that every student has at least one teacher that he or she connects with, and it is our goal to make sure all students do not feel like a number in such a large school. Our speech team and theater department is second to none in the area. We produce five separate plays each year of incredible quality, and the contest drama has won countless awards at the state level. Our speech team is often undefeated. We have incredible athletic facilities and we are always at the top or near the top of our conference in every sport. Go Maroons! read more

Belleville West High School has impacted my life for the better and I have grown so much from being a student here. I have attended a small grade school my whole life. When I was preparing to go to Belleville West, I was kind of intimidated by the fact that I would now be going to a new school where my high school class alone is much bigger than my whole grade school. After I settled in to the new environment with the help from caring teachers and staff, I began to enjoy attending this large school. The teachers genuinely care about my future and they go out of their way to help me do the best I can in high school. With so many clubs and various types of people, West offers a great opportunity to find a place where you fit in. I am involved in various clubs, such as marching band, theater, and the school newspaper. These extracurricular activities are very fun to be a member of. I have met many people through these clubs. They have also challenged me to work hard because it is rewarding in the end. I am happy to say I am a Belleville West Maroon! read more

I like going to Belleville West. My peers are nice and I make new friends every day. My teachers are always willing to help out at any time; their emails are available every time I have a question or concern involving homework. There are also so many activities to participate in. This year, I have joined JROTC, where we work on bonding exercises and learn about different branches of the military (they even have programs to help you get in). I also participate in Key Club, a very active Volunteer club, willing to help around the community. The school participates in Chess tournaments, swim meets, bowling, volleyball, and much more. My favorite time of the year is homecoming week. All the students get to take a break from dress code and wear funny and interesting outfits and costumes that collaborate with a certain theme, from cowboy outfits to dressing like we're in the 50's. Belleville West, the best school, for the best, ran by the best. Belleville West High School is such a wonderful place that I dread to leave whenever it is the end of the day. This school has a very welcoming and homey feeling, with some of the best teachers/staff. I even met my best friend here! Belleville West is truly an futuristic school with state-of-the-art classrooms and facilities. The football field had some of the best turf, with an all weather capable 8-lane track that surrounds it. Not only are the physical attributions of Belleville West is amazing, but also the class courses and teachers too! All of the classes are challenging enough to keep you on your toes, with teachers who like improving kids lives by not only teaching, but communicating as well. At the end, Belleville West High School is one of the best high schools in its area, and I'm extremely happy to be going there. Go Maroons! read more

Belleville West is an amazing school where the teachers are great and are very welcoming to the students. I have had a great year and almost half being here with them. My experiences here have been amazing and will continue to be great as I have a wonderful journey throughout the rest of my time here. Belleville West has so many amazing and fun clubs and extra curricular activities that there is something for everyone to do and get involved in. Classes here fit most of people;s dreams and future. From having cooking class, numerous different types of art classes, several music involved classes, and even a class for a lot of science fields. This school has impacted me in a major way. Belleville west has never failed to offer me all the academic needs to help me have a successful school career. There are so many clubs and opportunities for students to showcase their abilities and find their niche. Not only this, but West is an incredibly excepting place. There is a place for everyone, no matter who you are. It's made up of so many diverse students and staff. If your child is looking for an accepting environment where they'll have lots of opportunities to find something to spend the rest of their lives doing, than this is definitely the place. The only complaint I have is that dress code can be a bit too strict sometimes. I believe it can be restricting to a students self expression. Belleville West has its goods and it's bads. Of course, as a school, most students don't like it. This can be expected in any high school. Overall, the environment is generally good. The teachers are kind and understanding. The students, at least most of them, are generally pretty nice also. We have lots of clubs that appeal to all kinds of students, you can always find a club to fit into. One thing, however, most students don't particularly like is the dress code. It is about as strict as you can get for a dress code without enforcing a uniform. Personally, I don't have a problem with the dress code because you don't have to dress fancy, and you can still express yourself. Even with the things disliked, it is still a better school than many high schools, and it's even better if you get involved in clubs and take classes that interest you. read more

Belleville West High School has been an amazing experience. The honors program is excellent and the teachers are as involved and helpful as possible. The classes are challenging enough to help you learn, but not harder that necessary. There are plenty of enjoyable extracurricular activities to join and there is at least one thing to fit everyone's preferences. My personal favorites are Speech and Acting team and the Little Theater club. These groups have helped me to meet new people, get involved in things outside of schoolwork, and have a great outlet to express myself while doing what I love. Belleville West is a great school and it really helps students and teachers grow. It helps students grow not just academically but also socially. It helps students grow academically through it's amazing teachers. Everyone here is so genuinely kind and encouraging that it makes for a great environment all around. From the students to the staff everyone is so accepting and willing to step up when there is someone who needs help. Belleville West is a wonderful high school. All of the teachers are so nice and love seeing their kids each and every day. Many of the departments at west set goals for the kids. For instance, the English department challenges each class to read at least a million pages. Last year, 2016-2017, I remember the class of 2020 exceeded the million pages. On the other hand, Belleville West has an incredible athletic department. So far in my high school career I've played three different sports, basketball, cross country, and track. The coaches have shaped me into the best athlete I could be. I could say we are probably the best in all sports in the southwestern conference. read more

Both all of the students and even all of the teachers are wonderful and always give up their time in the hope of the benefit of the student. I like ge being a student at Belleville West high school. For, the welcoming students, friendly teachers, and fun days. At Belleville West kids are put in an environment where they learn to socialize and make new friends. The teachers are not only friendly but they really do care. The teachers care deeply about education, they care about helping you understand it, and most of all they try to connect with you. An example of a very fun time at West high school is hobo week. West has a multitude of extracurricular activities that encompass all things from Theater to Astronomy Club and everything inbetween. There's truly something for everyone.
