Coming from a current…read morestudent there, I say that it has one of the most beautiful communities of any school I' ve been to (and I've been to 7 different schools in my life). Not only do the teachers actually know what they're teaching, but they care about you. If they notice that something is up, they'll come talk to you to see if you're okay. In addition to those 2 points, WCA has fantastic sports options and coaches. These coaches bring out the best in people, they know what they're coaching and they don't just do it for a paycheck. The students and staff here and just out-of-this-world fantastic. I would absolutely recommend WCA to any family, not just christians, because I came to westminster not having really any faith, and now I am a lot more confident in my faith with Jesus Christ. If you're still reading, know that God loves you and has a plan for you.

One boy held him down, as another boy pinched and twisted the skin on the inside of his upper arms leaving several bruises. These two boys were supposed to be his friends.. It was reported to the counselor, who did nothing. As it should have been escalated. The Christian values and morals we paid were lacking.

I cannot day a single negative thing, my son is thrilled to go, and everyone has been so warm, friendly and supportive. The fact that the campus is beautiful is an added bonus. Twin Oaks Christian School offers an excellent academic experience with a Biblical worldview. What…read moremakes it really special are the teachers, who are there because they love what they're doing, they love the kids and they love the Lord. These kids are challenged, held to high standards, and lovingly mentored by the staff as well as students in the upper grades. The kids get the benefit of a beautiful, spacious facility with windows in every room and a gorgeous sanctuary in which to have chapel every week. Starting as early as Kindergarten, they get to take Spanish, music, art, PE and library. For the upper grades and middle school there is an abundance of exploratory classes, a computer lab, supervised social activities, a worship band and a low student: teacher ratio to enrich learning and relationships. Compared to other similar schools in the area, it's also an outstanding value for your money. We've been very happy with our children's experience at TOCS and I would encourage anyone looking for Christian education to call or visit!

Looking for the Catholic Church to get you out in a jiffy? This is definitely your church. I…read morereally like hitting up mass here when I am in the mood to be a good Catholic girl. I can show up for the 9:00 AM Mass and I am in my car leaving the parking lot by 9:50. That is awesome in my book. The homilies are quick but actually have some good points. They lack in rambling which is also a big plus in my book. I also like this community. The parish actually seems to still be a community unlike the Catholic Churches of my childhood (and my young adulthood for that matter). They have blood drives and the people all seem to know each other. The sign of peace (for all you non-Catholics that's the weird handshake part) actually seems genuine. You just don't get that in this religion. People don't run out the door after communion either, and I am one of the few not lingering and talking after the mass. I love that and usually wish I could partake and didn't have brunch plans. Also, the church is beautiful. The stained glass windows are actually the stations of the cross and they get darker and darker as lead to the front of the church where the actual crucifixion is located. I think that's awesome, if somewhat dark, concept. It always gives me something to stare at when I am starting to get distracted.

I've been here once and I really want to go back…read more The sermon when I went focused on kindness to strangers and "sheltering" others; the minister shared an amusing story about when he was a teenager roadtripping in Texas and his car broke down and he was lost, and a woman that took him in. Obviously he doesn't expect people to let complete strangers sleep in their house, but the anecdote was meant to segue into a moving sermon about kindness to others. I really enjoyed the minister's style of speech, sense of humor, and his message. I appreciate that the focus of this church's mindset are being a good, spiritual person, rather than following doctrine. There was music (from talented congregation members), there was laughing, there was calmness and meditation. Before every service they have the children come in and share something with us, and I love how they integrate the children with the adults and bridged that generational gap. The children were apparently learning about a new religion every week, and shared with us their Buddhist prayer flags, which I thought was really awesome. That's something that I remember yearning for as a child - I wanted to learn about everything there was out there in the world spiritually so I could make my own choices, and I love that this church fosters that. I noticed they were also very involved in the community and followed through on their commitment to social justice, with events scheduled like a "Homeless for a Night" fundraiser event (you know, where you sleep outside in a box, and bring canned food, and raise awareness). The chapel itself is simple, but very beautiful. Unpretentious. Really nice space. Everyone was very kind and welcoming to me, but not pushy like the previous reviewer said, and I appreciated that. Also the day I went they had a used book fair - special was all you can fit in a Dierberg's bag for $5! They had a huge selection and I walked away with some really awesome steals. Plus, it's in cute little downtown Kirkwood, so you've got their farmer's market right across the street and all their local businesses to explore while you're in the area as well. Technically First Unitarian in CWE is closer to me, but I really clicked with this place so I would drive farther to go here. With working overtime a lot and the overnight 12 hour shifts, getting out there is going to be hard, but this place is so neat that I'm really going to try to make the effort. Loved it.
