AC Hotel by Marriott Ciudad de Sevilla - Cheese Plate from Hotel Restaurant

Tucked away in a quieter area of the city, we had booked two rooms at the Sevilla AC Hotel for a…read moregreat price. Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted by the concierge, who spoke fluent English and Spanish, and she guided us through the various amenities and nearby sights that Sevilla is famous for. Due to our Marriott Bonvoy status, we were also provided the option of a $20/day (per room) credit towards the hotel's restaurant. The hotel is sparsely decorated, with a minimalist vibe - it feels slightly dated and in need of some new decor. The gym is tiny, with a bike, treadmill, and adjustable weight machine, but served our needs for our one-night stay. There is also a rooftop pool, which is small, but perfect for catching a break from the sweltering Sevilla summer heat! One of our rooms was upgraded to a suite, which was spacious and open, with a large bathroom and a nice sitting area. Our other room with two full-sized beds was smaller, but also had a large bathroom. The rooms are clean with stocked minibars, and complimentary almond cookes from a local bakery are also provided! We tried the hotel's restaurant for dinner the night we arrived, as we had a €40 credit that day between our two rooms. We ordered a Prawn Salad, Ham Croquettes, some sort of Pizza, and a Cheese Plate. The food was solid if not stellar - the seafood in vegetables in my salad tasted fresh, though it was overdressed, the ham croquettes were crispy on the outside and rich on the inside, though overseasoned, and the pizza was fairly standard. The cheese plate was the best dish of the night - with a variety of four different cheeses (with varying textures and tastes), walnuts, and a tart marmalade, this was a great option to share. For four dishes, it was around €70, though with the credit, it was only €30. For breakfast the next day, we returned to the hotel restaurant to use our credit for the day before leaving. The hotel breakfast is extensive, with a buffet-style layout comprised of Spanish favorites, such as jamón ibérico, as well as more traditional breakfast fare, such as scrambled eggs and toast. For those with a sweet tooth, there are assorted pastries and breakfast breads/cakes, and there's also a wide variety of yogurts and fresh fruit for those craving healthier fare. I believe the breakfast buffet option was around €18/person, which is a bit high, but only €8/person with the credit we had! Overall, I would say that the AC Hotel in Sevilla is a great option that was on the less pricey side (book early!) - the amenities are decent, the location is a bit out of the way but quiet and peaceful, and service is kind and helpful.

The Hotel de la ciudad de Sevilla is especially beautiful on the outside. In addition to the beauty…read moreof the architecture, the hotel is relatively close to public transportation and a tour guide bus stop. Furthermore, the hotel is a mere 10 minute drive from most of the best tourist attractions in the Sevilla area. Upon arriving we were greeted by the very friendly concierge desk. Only issue we had during our stay was that the price quoted by the front desk was significantly higher than the one quoted online on the Marriott website. To combat this we had to book online, and wait several minutes for the reservation to, "kick in" with the front desk. Other than the above issue, everything was great at the hotel. The rooms and bathrooms were nice. Room service was 24 hours a day which was especially convenient considering that a lot of restaurants in the surrounding area close by midnight. The hotel also has a sparking garage, and there is lots of near by free stream parking. Only thing I would not do, is get a triple room. It seems the third bed is a less comfortable trundle bed that was just added to the room, and not the standard more comfortable Marriott beds and mattresses.

Food & the hotel restaurant seems to run out quickly. Ratatouille didn't compare with my first Ratatouille eaten in hotel in Madrid. Positives: Room is brighter. Front desk helpful, spoke good English. Asked for towels, floor mat, they showed up in less than 5 mins. Tiny veranda, view of the street and Factory Outlet across the street where everything is 50/70% off. But they didn't have what we wanted! Bathroom, a little bit bigger than the last hotel we stayed at. Bright lights! Same composite floor everywhere, same as the last 4 hotels we stayed at. We're staying here for 2 nights. UPDATE: We waited 10 mins. for milk for our cereals today! On one side of the buffet tables, they ran out of rolls & bread. I was awaken, from the guy next to us, snoring loudly! Yes, he's married. My hubby snores too, loudly, but this trip? This bed? This pillow? He's snoring soundly and quietly. I think, I'll ship him here permanently .LOL Bad news . . . last night I wasn't feeling well, fatigued from the heat. I left my pink purse under the table, it's metal and very square & small. Today, I went downstairs asking for the front desk, if someone turned in my purse or if someone found it. He called the food manager, and he said no one found a purse. I walked straight to the table where we were sitting, and AH HA! There was my lonesome purse waiting for me! Meaning, they didn't see it, because the didn't clean under the table!!!! Speaking of tables, you could tell when people starting to have breakfast. You could hear the sound of chairs being moved around, in the basement. We're on the 1st floor, and the floors there are tiled.
