My table was not as much of a handful as the other reservations, but the girls were still polite to all tables. Myself and the other two people with me all ordered the full afternoon tea, plus I ordered their cream of crab soup, party member 1 ordered their soup of the day (chicken tortilla), and party member 2 ordered their house salad. Everything was beyond my expectations. The full tea was surprisingly filling, and everything was so delicious. I wish I could give Michelin stars because they would get 500 of them from me. The overall concept of the "Victorian tea" was hit perfectly, matching with the decor and real china for eating and drinking. That particular day a lot of the other tables had loud children, but that's not something the restaurant can control so it's not something I took personally. Make sure if you go you check out the handmade jewelry and purchase some of their teas to take home. My party's personal favorites were lemon blueberry, mid summer nights dream, and raspberry bush. Will be back for many future events!!

My first visit to Havre de Grace, MD happened during a solo birthday adventure from Central PA to…read moreOcean City--and as luck would have it, Havre de Grace made the perfect halfway stop. After lunch at a nearby spot, I spent some time wandering through the charming downtown, popping in and out of local businesses. And then...there it was. Jamie Bakes. A bakery. Open. On a cold, rainy, gray Friday. On my birthday. After lunch. When I could absolutely go for some mid-day dessert?! SAY LESS. I walked into Jamie Bakes just after lunchtime and found the small bakery stocked with cases full of baked goods ready to go. From cakes to cookies and everything in between--Jamie most definitely Bakes. After a few minutes of browsing, I landed on the only decision that truly made sense: a Birthday Cake Stuffed Cookie complete with rainbow sprinkles. I mean...it was my birthday, after all. This thing was MASSIVE--big, round, and stacked tall with stuffing, frosting, and festive sprinkles like it understood the assignment. I'm pretty sure Jamie Bakes these specifically for birthdays like mine. Thanks, Jamie. $5.99 later, I was walking out with my birthday treat safely packaged in a to-go box and a spontaneous birthday picnic plan forming in my head. I discovered there was a lighthouse nearby and decided that would be the perfect place to enjoy my sweet treat. I found my spot, added a little "Happy Birthday" pick to the top (because we're committing to the moment), snapped a few photos, and dug in. And let me tell you--Jamie didn't just bake, Jamie delivered! The cookie was fantastic! Moist, chewy, and perfectly soft--no dry, crumbly nonsense here. The stuffed center had that cake-pop-like texture and flavor that made every bite feel extra indulgent. And the frosting with the rainbow sprinkles? Sweet, but not overwhelmingly sugary--just the right balance. My only complaint? That Jamie Bakes over two hours away from my house, because I would absolutely be making this a regular stop if it were closer. This is the kind of place that makes it very easy to justify "just one more" treat. Also worth noting--their hours are surprisingly generous for a bakery, which makes it easy to swing by when most bakeries would be closed. Jamie really said, "I'll be here when you need me," and I respect that. All in all, Jamie Bakes gave me the perfect birthday dessert moment. If you find yourself in Havre de Grace, do yourself a favor and stop in--because when Jamie Bakes, you should probably treat yourself.

If the ice cream shop hours were also listed, it would be fine. Most of the young girls at the counter aren't very personable. There was a girl that was darker, maybe Hispanic or Hawaiian, and she was very nice. She helped me at the end because my sundae was melting onto the counter. Tonight I got a brownie sundae for $8.75. As always, there were only two flavors with a chocolate base. The one was just chocolate, and the other was almost identical-chocolate with two additional ingredients. Not enough. The girls NEVER-EVER put enough of the toppings on! Frustrating! Also, I told the one that waited on me that I wanted nuts, and she hadn't put them on. Glad I noticed! I FINALLY found out tonight that you can have as many of the toppings you'd like on the brownie sundae. You're not charged for extras-even extra hot fudge, etc. The containers the brownies are in are what the sundaes are put in. They're too small!! I asked for extra hot fudge, and that had to be put in a separate cup. Glad I did because she barely had any on the sundae. I went outside to eat my sundae because everything was dripping out of the container. As I was finishing up, a mouse ran right by me and stayed on the patio. I know I was outside, but feel that the tables could be wiped more frequently. They close at 8 pm, and I left about 8:15. The trash hadn't been emptied yet. When I got to my car a few minutes later, the outside lights were turned off. I hope that they emptied the trash. When I've gone there, I always wonder if decent ice cream is worth it.
