My friend and I stumbled across this cafe en route to an event and dropped in on our way home to try it. We both had a cup of herbal tea and I had a slice of cake. Staff were really friendly and it was a nice spot to spend an hour or so. The cafe also has various items for sale including plants, crockery, candles and kids items, however I found they were priced pretty high. This is why I dropped a star on my review as I found it was on the pricier side. Tea was £2 and a slice of cake/cupcake/pastry was £3. I did enjoy my tea and cake and the cake was homemade but it was a bit of a small portion to justify the £3 price. However I appreciate the vicinity of the cafe probably warrants the price and it is in quite a touristy area with the London Eye a 5 min walk away. The cafe has been there 4 months and it makes a change to visit a local business vs a chain cafe, hopefully it is here to stick around. So give it a go! Hopefully they will become a bit more generous with the portion sizes!!

Perfect seating area with electric fireplace, light jazz instrumentals, perfectly brewed tea and coffee, and just calming atmosphere. This is truly a hidden gem and relaxing place to read a book, talk to friends, or just enjoy some time to yourself.

The menu consists of various meats, cheeses and mixes that you have put on several different types of bread (roll, panini, etc.).I highly recommend the salt beef on a white round roll. The carrot cake is also excellent. Service If you arrive prior to about 12:15 the queue line is usually quite minimal, however it can quickly build up after that. In spite of a long queue service is efficient. I don't think I have ever had to wait more than 5 minutes. There are usually 4 or 5 people making sandwiches with 1 or 2 people supporting the effort either at the till or filling up supplies. On one or two occasions I have had difficulting understanding the server behind the counter, but it worked out fine. You can have all your food put into a plastic bag which is quite handy for your walk back to the office or the park. Shop It has a small seating, comprised of little round tables. In total it seats about 10. When the line queues up it can stretch the length of the shop to the entry door. The 'L' shaped service counter is in the back with the till at the bend. The flow of service would work better if the till was at the end of the 'L'. I often find myself having to reach around someone to pay my bill. There is a single cooler with a variety of beverages (water, soda, etc.). There is also a stand witch crisps in a packet or in a can (Pringles). Overall, the sandwich bar is convenient for people who work near to Waterloo Station and Southwark. It is not a place to make a special out of the way trip for, however it is highly recommended as a place to regular if you work in the area.

One of a few independent sandwich shops on The Cut the Waterloo Sandwich bar is easily missed for those walking past the Young Vic. But it shouldn't be missed, not even if there's an inevitably long queue (it'll move quite quickly, promise). Here you'll find amazing baguettes, paninis and salads to order, all at relatively reasonable prices (i.e. cheaper than your nearby Eats and Prets). As with the two previous reviews, I'd recommend the amazing salad boxes, cramming pesto or chili chicken in with sweet potatoes, roasted veg, couscous and rice. Just don't try to fit it onto a plate when you get back to the office. Or if you're after something to eat on the go, the chorizo baguette with gran padano and rocket was a personal fave of mine. Sigh. There is space to sit down, but the place is so full of people trying to queue for great food that I wouldn't recommend it. Instead, I'd say take it back to the office to make your Pret-munching colleagues nice and jealous.

No one who works behind a tiny lil counter in a tiny deli off a side street should ever be that friendly. But I took the bait anyways. And boy was there a big Pay off! Hooray! huge sando's for £3! My favorite is the salad box with EVERYTHING in it; lettuce, avocados, beets, coleslaw, pasta salad... other stuff... dressing! and it's only £2.30 or some ridiculous price like that. It's perfect towards the end of the month when you are surviving on the dregs of your last paycheck, but you are too lazy to pack a lunch. It's only open for lunch, so unless you work in waterloo I probably wont see you there.

As Suzanne said, the ladies at the counter are unbelievably friendly. They patiently explained the specials to me and then made sure I got exactly the sandwich I wanted with an overwhelming assortment of ingredients. For £3.60 I got a delicious, fresh and filling (huge!) sandwich and for another £1 I spontaneously nabbed one of the sweets on the counter - some kind of bar with chocolate and caramel - which tasted like it had been made that same day and was heavenly. Students at KCL Waterloo campus should know about this spot as it is about 1 minute from campus and the food is WAY better (and no more expensive) than the stuff at the cafeteria.

I was a bit scared to get this since i was by myself but let me tell you, it was not heavy as i expected it to be. Just delicious overall and would totally recommend. Chocolate strawberries: I love strawberries and chocolate but definitely think you can find cheaper alternatives anywhere in london. Bread Ahead: my new favorite pastry place. I pretty much got a donut from this place (not this location) everyday because the black currant cheesecake donut was that good. I got the tiramisu and crème brûlée donut which my brother liked and i wish i could've tasted them before they went bad but anyways, I would totally recommend the donuts from here! Their chocolate chips cookies are HUGE and delicious as well. This was probably one of my favorite markets!

There were two Po' Boy sandwiches on offer when I was there: The Poor Boy (Beef with slaw and horseradish mayonnaise) and Chaurice, sauce and cheese (Chaurice sausage meatballs with tomato sauce and cheese). I opted for The Poor Boy. I saw them making it, and it looked amazing. They then asked me if I wanted hot sauce and chilies? Oh yes please, make it spicy! I couldn't wait to eat it. And it was as good as it looked. Spicy, meaty and rich with crunchy slaw and toasty, warm bread. It was even quite messy, but I didn't care. I just wanted the whole thing. And now, writing this review, I want to go back and immediately get another one. Or the sausage meatballs. Because it was that good. I'm gonna keep an eye out for Hank's. Their website says they do a variety of Po' Boys, including one with oysters, and that's the one that I really want to try next.
