The maintenance man, Vitaliy, is the only bright spot here. Otherwise, Bella on Broadway is not a place I would recommend to anyone. Ever. Unless you like getting nickled and dimed to hell. They will find ways to do it too. Those fun new lights in the common space? You pay to keep them on. Billed monthly. I should have gone down and flipped them off every night. Want a working elevator? Of the 12 months we lived there, 1 or both elevators was down in 6 different months. For the last month, both were out of their LNI inspection window. Im not usually nervous on elevators. Those ones made me understand that specific fear. Big time. Do you have a dog? Get ready to pay to have all your carpets replaced at a charge that is eye-watering! Ours is clean, never peed on anything, ever, and we still got to replace 100% of the carpets because they were apparently completely ruined. I want the old carpet then, if Im paying for it Bella. That carpet was fine. It can come live in my new place. Oh, and we got charged for odor treating those same carpets which feels weird to me, you know? Why are we paying to have carpets that are ruined and needing replaced get odor treated? Seems weird, doesnt it? Maybe the new carpets were stinky and needed odor treatment. Still not sure I want to pay for that though. Tovah Hammer is also nice and full of little fibs. You know those little white lies you tell to make a BS answer more sweet? Well she sure does! Its probably on some level her job to keep ownership and their mass of ungrateful tenants at arms length from one another, but it can be pretty frustrating to deal with. And we had to. First they sent us a letter 4 months before the end of our lease saying we had 30 days to renew for a full year or we could get evicted. Felt a bit aggressive, but okay. I went to talk to Tovah, because at the time, we were on a timeline where the full year didnt make sense for us but we could do 6 months. We could even do 8. Tovah told me she couldn't do anything for less than 12 months because of WA states "new laws". She acted soooooo apologetic. How awful. Literally nothing could be done. Im still not sure what she meant there. Still cant find this new legislation restricting people from signing a lease less than 1 year. When I asked her what we should do, her honest to God advice was to just sign the new lease for a year and if we have to break it, do that (and pay a 3 month penalty of course, no big, youre good for that cash, right?) Uh, no. No way. Listen, Im writing this after receiving a pretty nasty email from them. I am bitter, I wont lie. But I dont usually do this either. I dont Review Bomb businesses. This one deserves it. I cant tell you how many conversations I had with other tenants that almost unanimously agreed that this place aint it. For one reason or another, every single tenant I talked to was dissatisfied and looking to move. One of my best memories of the place will be the day 6 of us got jammed up in the elevator as it clunked and clanked along for dear life, as we laughed about the entire experience. Everyone on that elevator was a one-year and done. If you have any other housing options. Take them. Save yourself the money Save yourself the headache. Other than Vitaliy. I could talk myself into living here when it was cheap, but not once they raised rent (raised more than legal amount as they forced people to leave or move to "renovated" unit). There's always something not working; elevator, garage door, hot water... the elevators were both broken for over a month once and when I moved in the fire alarms would go off once a week in the middle of the night, making the entire building evacuate... so, yea, if you don't mind all that then you can get some good views and a great maintenance man. read more

Always answer maintenance in a timely manner and no matter what breaks will always follow up near to immediate. We even had our entire toilet swapped out once and they did it from one day to another. Honestly, I'm so glad to have finally moved out of Bella. At first, everything seemed great but that no longer reflects our experience at this apartment complex. Pro-- -The maintenance man, Vitaliy, is extremely friendly, helpful, and quick to address any maintenance requests. You constantly see him around the property keeping everything in good shape. -The office does do a pretty good job informing residents of building maintenance (e.g. meter checks, fire alarm checks, etc) or sharing that the office will close early. -The location is nice with lots of restaurants, shops, and a park within walking distance. Cons- The office manager, Tovah, was fine to work with for simple things. But anything more than that I'd recommend getting in writing, which will probably be refused anyways so there's nothing binding them to what they say. We moved into the building June 15th 2023 and signed a 12 month lease. At the time, we KNEW we would be staying in Tacoma until the end of June 2024 before moving out of state again. We asked if we could sign a 13 month lease which was refused, with the verbal assurance we could do a month-to-month lease at a higher rate, which we agreed to. When asked if we could get that in writing, it was refused because they "could not determine the market value for the unit at that time". Whatever. Over our time living here, we have gotten verbal reassurance we could do the month-to-month lease FROM TOVAH at least 3 times, with the most recent being the beginning-mid March 2024. This was discussed directly with Tovah, but again she would put nothing in writing and just told us to give a 60 day notice before we wanted to move out. Sure enough, Tovah called us AFTER business hours on March 29th 2024, a Friday of a holiday weekend, to leave a message informing us they would not allow a month-to-month lease extension due to the building renovations and would terminate our lease on May 31. She referenced the renovations as the reason for the lease termination but NEVER gave us even a heads up despite we were talking with her again about our plan to stay until the end of June just 2 days prior. As stated above, we signed a 12 month lease starting on June 15. However, they claim they only end leases on the last day of the previous month and would need to have the lease notarized to reflect a change to the move-out day, which they were not willing to do. So despite paying for 12 months, those extra 15 days at the beginning of June 2024 were not included in our lease and they basically told us there was nothing we could do we we would have to "lose" those days. Another example- Last June they were offering a sign-on bonus. We completed everything over the phone as we were not able to travel to Tacoma in advance to see units in person (we were out of state). We were told we could get the sign-on bonus but the specifics were not told to us, so they tried to take that out when sending us the first draft of our lease after we applied. After really having to advocate for ourselves, we did eventually receive the sign-on bonus, but it was not easy. Just another example of trying to go back on their verbal word. -The building is currently going through renovations. I'm sure it'll be nice enough when it's done, but for now it can be noisy at all times of the day/evening I hope other people have a more positive experience with management than we did. I lived at Bella for 25 months. This was actually my first apartment ever, and I'm 50 years old! What a great experience. The location is amazing with downtown amenities just a stones throw away, but even better is the actual building and staff. Toni, the property manager and Mikhail, the all around everything guy take good care of the residents. Shortly after moving in, the carpet settled and the entry way showed spots that I had not made. Toni has it professionally cleaned for me within 2 days. The package system in the lobby is a great plus.....no more racing home to get there before the office closed to get packages. During the pandemic, I worked at home Monday through Friday and had no issues with noise other than construction that was somewhat faint from the project on Broadway at 4th. The building was generally clean and well functioning. Pre pandemic I enjoyed the theater room and common room with friends. I'm not much for exercise, but the gym was well kept too. I would recommend Bella on Broadway to anyone looking to live in the Stadium District of Tacoma! read more

Wow. The management team was changed out and goodness - run as fast as you can away from here. The maintenance team is incredible. Vitaly will respond to any issue you have within 5 minutes and always with a smile. But! Only if you catch him in the hallway because tickets submitted will never be passed on to him. The office manager and higher management in Palladium do not care about you. At all. My next door neighbor discharged a shotgun through my kitchen wall. I wasn't hurt, but for five months, the damage was not fixed. And when I moved out, they had the audacity to charge me for the damage!! My move out costs was astronomical. Who has that kind of money laying around, especially during Covid?! I called to try to understand the charges and I was told it was cleaning costs. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Bella On Broadway - This happens on a regular basis. In the main lobby and the garage. - Apartments Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

Ok, I thought the Orion was bad, but this place is the worst apartment building in Tacoma. This is one long review that gives an honest reflection of living at Smella on Broadway for the last year+. The apartment building is literally falling apart, weeds are growing in the patio, and the hallways were constantly filthy. People are out front smoking and drinking at literally all hours. 7 am or midnight, made no difference. People routinely parked in our parking spots that we paid for. Bikes were stolen from the "secure garage", and management blamed it on residents instead of beefing up security. There were at least quarterly instances of suspicious people roaming the "secured" building and garage, and the police were here on several occasions responding to such instances. Rumors were of homeless people invading the lobby and common areas. There was constantly some sort of passive aggressive reminder in the elevator to pick up packages from the office, so I would hurry home and 9 times out of 10 the office would be closed early for no reason. There was no hot water for TWO WEEKS (by law a requirement to not be without for 24 hours), and their corporate office told us they would put us up in a hotel if we swore not to tell anyone else in the building, and then still billed the entire building for hot water during the time there was none. Not to mention there was no sincere apology from management or even free shower passes to shower at the Y down the street. Upon move out, the carpet was literally falling apart and was well past its lifetime (it hadn't been cleaned or repaired in close to 4 years), and management graciously billed us for a $460 carpet repair blaming our dog who never once chewed or ripped up the carpet. Obviously a scam to pay for the entire carpet to be replaced, even though that's wear and tear and the landlord's responsibility. Not to mention the building manager parks in a handicap parking spot every single day without a handicap placard because she was too lazy to park anywhere else. This past summer, one of the hottest on record, and for almost a month total, we couldn't open our windows during the day due to pressure washing or painting. One day, they pressure washed our unit without warning, luckily I was home to close it before it ruined my $700 couch! Being forced to keep your windows closed on a 90+ degree day is a special kind of torture. Management could care less since she gets an air conditioned office. We recently moved to the Metropolitan and couldn't be happier. It's about $250 a month cheaper with more amenities and nicer units. Not to mention management actually cares about their residents...what a concept. read more

This place is great. The only negative is the occasional drunk group of people on the weekends walking by the building. Work orders are done very quick, never have had a problem with that. If you have a conflict with packages, you can email the office and they'll have them delivered to your door. Neighbors are friendly and usually pretty quiet. read more

The apartment complex overall is well maintained. The internal noise from the neighbors is minimal. The external noise can be quite loud from our business neighbors directly behind the complex and weekend bar crowds after closing time. My apartment windows face southwest and prone to hot temperatures..a portable air conditioner is a must especially if you own a dog. The management staff is attentive responsive and friendly. Repairs are made timely by maintenance. The building location couldn't be better for freeway access, local restaurants, parks ,schools ,shops, Tacoma General plus a lot more. Street parking is most often available , well lit , with vacant spots near the building. Overall I recommend this property. read more

My ex used to live here and they were pretty amazing. It was secure, clean, smelled nice, and the staff was friendly. One time he left something on in the apartment and the staff was nice enough to go up and cut it off. The only thing that sucks is the parking, it was pretty tight in the garage. Although as far as outside, I never had a problem finding space when I came to visit. I'm thinking about getting a place there myself (he's since moved so it's not weird) read more

Living here was a wonderful experience. We were fortunate enough to get the corner penthouse suite. Such an amazing view. The staff is a delight to work with. Lots of military personnel and medical personnel occupying this building. It is always nice to have clean and responsible neighbors. The cost of living is worth the amenities. The security is slightly flawed and being taken care of. The noise level on the W side of the building is low. There are many benefits to living in a downtown environment. Lots of great food. Lots of Culture! The freeway access is just one minute away. Literally one minute. Parking is the only downside. Transit does stop in front of the building, so if you take the PT to work, it's easygoing. There is one more detail. Across the street there is a low income housing structure. Old and decrepit looking called Broadmoor Apts. Lots of people with not much respect for others privacy and possessions. Anyway, don't let that get you down. Bella is wonderful. Dog friendly. Would not recommend living here. The apartments are loud and over-priced, management has let the common use areas go to ruin and repairs take forever. There doesn't seem to be any tenant screening process so the new neighbors get away with having numerous live-in relatives and friends. Save your money and live an a better building. read more

Pretty much within walking distance to a wide variety of businesses. Its a clean property with amazing amenities and the onsite management is friendly and responds to tenants needs quickly. This is a great place to live, being new to the city I felt overwhelmed when looking for a place and when I came to check out the complex I felt immediately at home. I have never felt unsafe being at home. Toni is wonderful about getting things taken care of and answering any questions I had and my maintenence request was answered and fixed within 24 hours. I lived at Bella for two years. Initially, I was pleased with my decision. The management and amenities were an excellent value. My apartment was comfortable. In 2014 the old building manager left, and the quality of service diminished. The office was closed during business hours far more frequently, in particular on the weekends. This made retrieving packages or getting service difficult. In December of last year, my car was stolen from the parking garage at the building. After three weeks, the building manager and his boss have failed to provide the security footage to the police. I will never rent from Bella or Indigo Real Estate again, and I would caution anyone who values their personal property to understand what "secure" actually means. read more

We relocated from south Florida to Tacoma Wa, Toni was very helpful in our transition, application wise very fast, the lease we signed on line no hassle, she was always very honest about any issue we had..The staff on Bella is very helpful overall..Michael, the custodian takes a little used to but he only looks angry, but he is always on call..the gym is great, even though we used very little due to our schedule.. the jacuzzi area is very elegant and is 24 hours, which is a plus for however works, specially on the winter. there is no a'c on the units thats a bummer on summer we found out the hard way.. we stayed 7 months on top floor which is a great unit..the trash chute and the floor overall always reeks, even though they kept clean.. neighbors: we had the cops knocking on our door twice in our last month in the building, somebody with no respect for peoples's privacy kept calling them saying somebody was in danger. note: me and my wife work all day in Seattle, we have no kids or pets and lil social life, meaning no parties, booze or drugs ever..the first time we were on the phone with my son in california 1 minute past 10 pm, and the second time we were actually talking and drinking tea, go figure..the cops were embarrassed and apologized even...so please take into consideration.. we had a great 6 months taking the last month which was a hell with somebody playing pranks.. the staff on site on saturday, she is the greatest person, sweet and always very helpful..Toni is also very helpful and easy to talk to. They charge an extra for parking, we did not have a car for 5 months..but we bought one and parking is terrible and very competitive..and its downtown, so its prone to people breaking windows, etc, but we never had that problem, only parking per say.. water sewer and garbage is very expensive, around $120.. some other condos charge less for that and they include parking... Bella was a great start up point for us, we do not have any regrets regarding our experience, but we knew we'd move after the lease expired.. I'd say rent it if you are a couple and work all...but rent the parking also.. read more

I've lived at Bella for almost 2 years now and have absolutely loved it. The building is well maintained, comfortable, and quite beautiful. As a young woman living independently, safety is a big deal for me, and I never once have felt unsafe living at Bella on Broadway. The building is quite new and thus I've rarely needed maintenance repairs completed (or if I did, it more often than not due to something I did wrong....) but every time the problem is fixed very rapidly. The only negative comment I can even think to make about this apartment has to do with how slow the elevators are. When you're rushing out the door, it can feel like they are running at a snail's pace, and unfortunately the staircases are not entirely convenient to getting places. I have found any inconvenience of the elevators easy to ignore with all the wonderful perks of this place. If you're looking for a classy apartment in a central location, give Bella a shot! read more
