Even when I told her I had arthritis to my lower back and I don't want her stepping on me, she stretched me and put her whole weight on my lower back. Then there was a period where she was working on my left lower leg and it just felt like she was just lightly rubbing on it as if like she's distracted on her phone or something. It was a good 5-10 minutes before I told her to move onto my feet. And whenever she put heavy pressure on me, I would tell her and she would just laugh and jokingly put super light pressure in response. I told her that if she is going to put pressure on my bones then it is going to hurt. She needs to learn to massage the muscles and not the bones. And that was not even the end of it, I planned to not give her any tips due to her poor performance today and when I went to go pay up at the front, I only paid for the massage session and gave no tips, I was attacked by the front lady saying that I never tip when I come, which was a complete lie. I have tipped many times before and this session with the masseuse was bad. This place craves for tips and is very rude when they give you poor performance and you don't give them any tips.

She lie me down and started with my temples and shoulders instead of my feet which I thought was weird, but it was my first time there so I went along with it. The room was humid, the water temp was hot, and her massage technique felt rushed, fast massaging, and inconsistent. It started with loud talking back and forth between her and another masseuse, the phone kept ringing, and she even left the room mid-session to answer it. Turned out she ended up giving me the 1hr body + foot massage, which I didn't request. When she realized the mistake, made me worried, and then told me there was nothing I could do and kept going. I was left concerned and uncomfortable for the next 30min. I had specifically asked for a foot massage, but the pressure was focused on the tops of my feet, not the soles where I needed relief. When I told her "lighter", she acknowledged it but continued with the same pressure. When the session ended, she left the room immediately without offering assistance. Being 7 months pregnant, I had to roll to my side, carefully sit up and slowly help myself off the high bed to grab and put on my socks and shoes, which was a bit disappointing. At the end, I was charged for the full hour. When I didn't leave a tip, she asked why, and I told her the experience wasn't good and I wouldn't be returning. On my long drive home in this heat and traffic, she texted me--after tracking down my number--to apologize and offered a $10 refund, but asked for my credit card info to do it and sent me 2 pictures. My phone dinged after another, she kept messaging, asking why I was dissatisfied. This is the reason why I was dissatisfied. Overall, I left more uncomfortable than when I arrived. The experience was unsettling, especially receiving anonymous texts afterward asking for my credit card information. I would not recommend this place, particularly for pregnant clients looking for safe, thoughtful care and focused relief.

I asked if there was any way to adjust my service, and I was told they would work with me and that the owner would call me that week to discuss a solution. On the day of the appointment, I received my facial (which was fine) and was told again that the owner would reach out soon to arrange something for the unused massage portion. But I never received a call. When I followed up afterward, I was told that because I booked in a group, they would not offer any accommodation--such as store credit or gift card--even after explaining my medical situation. Given that I personally spent $360 and our group spent around $1,800 including tip, I expected a basic level of compassion, especially for a postpartum mom with an ongoing medical issue. I wasn't looking for special treatment, just a reasonable accommodation for a service I physically could not receive. Unfortunately, the lack of empathy and unwillingness to work with me given my specific situation was deeply disappointing. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this spa. I've never left a spa in tears before, but my experience at La Peau Day Spa today was awful -- and I didn't even get to have the massage I booked because of how disrespectful the receptionist, Grace, was. I called earlier in the day to book a same-day lymphatic massage and asked if there were any October specials. Grace told me there weren't, which seemed strange for a spa but I booked anyway -- a $180 service for 2:00 PM. When I arrived, I had to get Grace's attention to check in. While in the restroom, I saw a sign listing October specials -- including a hot stone massage for $140 (normally $160). When I mentioned it, politely, just to make her aware, she got very short with me. I even said I didn't want to disrupt my therapist's schedule, but she snapped, "Do you want to change it or not?" Eventually, she tried to change it, then told me she couldn't because that therapist doesn't offer that service. I said that was totally fine -- I was looking forward to the lymphatic massage anyway. I also had a gift card from one of their events and asked what services it could be used toward. She kept contradicting herself, couldn't give me a straight answer, and started texting without looking up or responding to me. I even complimented her nails to lighten the mood -- no acknowledgment, no eye contact, just more attitude. By this point, I was uncomfortable but trying to stay polite. When I finally went back with the massage therapist (Marissa, who was lovely), Grace/Serena (the fake name she gave me when I asked because she knew her behavior was disgusting, which I did say but never did I say anything towards her or call her names, I did tell her she mad me uncomfortable and was disrespectful) she kept interrupting and acting like there was some big issue when there wasn't. I was actually shaking from how she treated me. In the end, I was so upset I couldn't go through with the service. Grace "Serena" told me I "made her uncomfortable," after I let her know how much she was upsetting me and making me uncomfortable... which was completely backwards, she sounded desperate to keep herself out of trouble-- I had been nothing but courteous. I even wanted to tip Marissa for her time, but Grace wouldn't allow that either. I will never return to La Peau Day Spa, and I hope management sees this and provides Serena with serious customer service training. No client should be treated this way -- especially not in a place that's supposed to be about relaxation and care. Let's just say that we enjoy Northern Thai as much as some of the massages we've had in Thailand. There are 4 options for massages - Thai massage which is stretching + massaging with no oil, Swedish which is a relaxing oil massage, Thai-Swedish a mix of the two, and Swedish deep tissue with oil and lots of elbow/forearm for pressure. At this point, I've had them all and highly recommend for starters the combination Thai-Swedish which is a nice mixture of assisted stretching into yoga-like poses with relaxing kneading/gliding of Swedish massage. The masseuses, though tiny in stature, pack a lot of strength and are able to expertly navigate the tight spots that need the most attention. One nice bonus is that they also have heated massage table pads which felt extremely nice during this cold winter afternoon. Be sure to call ahead for an appointment. I've hardly had issues getting a same day appointment. The only negative about Northern Thai is that they have noisy barber shop neighbors, so I recommend ear buds or plugs so that you can really enjoy the massage in peace.
