Made to order bridesmaids dresses at the same price as the big box stores? Yes please! I used these ladies' services almost 2 years ago for my vow renewal, which was taking place in Michigan. Even with girls sending their measurements in from across country, the instructions were precise enough that everyone (except one girl who I think just measured wrong, she has a really long torso) got a dress that fit just as well as the only local girl's. They also fixed my wedding dress, and then un-fixed it when I outgrew it before the renewal (oops). Their studio/shop is very small, but stuffed with goodies. Last time I was there they had a lot of toddler clothes (which you can also get made to order), and some wares from various local etsy sellers. I wish these girls much luck in their endeavors, and will definitely be a customer for life! read more

What a cute shop! I went here after calling another place in the area, they had me send photos of the dress and what I needed done which I really didn't think was too much. However the other business stated they couldn't do it because of timing ( dress needed to be done before sept. 1 this was end of July) Kinda stressed out I was happy that Bella Jean was not only willing to do the job but wasn't concerned at all about having enough time. Thank god they know what they are doing because I really didn't know all that I needed for the dress to fit me perfectly. The ladies there got me all fixed up bringing things to my attention I wouldn't have even thought of. Overall the alterations were seamless and the dress fit perfect! I chose here because I wanted a better experience than David's Bridal and support a local business. I am not sure what was going on, maybe they didn't like my face or something, but I don't understand why my experience is what it was. I initially left a VM on their machine regarding my dress. Someone called me back and asked me to text them a picture, which I did. A few days later they called me back and I made an appointment. I dropped my dress off a moth before the wedding, which they said was plenty of time. They told me they would have it done October 31 (Wedding was Nov 3). I got pinned and left my dress. I went on vacation and got a phone call, while I was on vacation, that my dress was ready. I made an appointment for the day I was back from vacation. Unfortunately, due to an incoming hurricane, my flight was very delayed and I had to cancel my appointment. Having returned from vacation, I had a hard time rescheduling due to work conflicts and had a hard time reaching anyone on the phone. Once I was able to connect with someone, I came in right away. My dress was taken in MUCH more than it should have been. It was horrendous. We couldn't even zip it up, it was incredibly painful. The girl helping me went and talked to another person there who I assume is the owner and said they would fix it (why would that even be an option? Of course they should fix it). I came in the next day to pick my dress back up. It was still WAY too tight. I could barely breathe. They told me if I needed it fixed any further they would have to charge me- and they actually couldn't take it out anymore since they trimmed it too much from the first time. I left with my dress, frustrated that they were so careless. Again, the owner was sitting RIGHT THERE. She never once looked at me, offered an apology, discussed anything with me- never once in the times I was there even offered a friendly smile. I wore my dress last weekend and it was incredibly painful. I was left with BLISTERS and BRUISES on my ribs, armpit area and breasts. I often felt faint from not being able to take a deep breath. I paid $60 for this place to RUIN my dress and was never offered an apology. A friend referred me to this shop, since I needed a timely alteration job done, this on almost no time to notify them. I called them, asked if I could drop my job with them "NOW" and surely they said, yes you can. Turnaround time is promised to be short, and so it was. Very friendly folks there, sure I'm a man, so a gown ain't my dress to be interested in. Yet having seen them at work, makes me believe they are very professional and I can trust them, with a job way more complicated than patches on a biker vest. I think they aren't too pricy, as this work is time consuming and has to look right at the first attempt. So I don't mind $8 per patch. Update, picked my cuts up at the promised time, everything was ready for me. Cool, I paid Debit with this iPhone swipe thingy and got my receipt as email, super cool. I had multiple business suits needing sleeves lengthened/shortened, and the overall fit optimized, as well as a bridesmaid gown needing the bust altered. It was very easy to schedule my appointment on their website, and I could set up reminders on my phone which was super convenient. The fitting was a very easy experience, and the seamstresses are very knowledgeable, talented, precise, innovative, and super friendly. Makena was polite, thorough, professional, and had great ideas for how to achieve the look I wanted on a dress that was several sizes too big. She added sleeves that never existed and I am thrilled with the final look. I have used this alterations business 5 times now including for my daughter's wedding dress. I have always thought they were a little pricey but worth it. Now I know they are also a good deal! I just got a fine gown shortened and taken in (seams, darts, the whole deal). $80. I had my daughter take her prom dress to the mall thinking it would be a little cheaper -- just shortening the train of a full skirt. Highway robbery! $125 Almost doubled the cost of the dress . I really appreciated that she was willing to do the job for me because a lot of places that focus mainly on dresses won't take on smaller jobs, and that's what I was running into when I inquired other places. The service and performance was really lacking and I felt like I was more of a bother than appreciated. I took my work clothes in to be altered, didn't need a lot...maybe 1/2-1 size smaller; slacks, skirts, and a dress. I had to take every item back twice and they still didn't look right. I stopped by this place last June to inquire about making a custom wedding dress, since I'm on a budget and was looking to save some money and had read good reviews about this place. The website said custom wedding dresses start at $500. When I came in with a photo the gal said $2,000. I pointed out the price estimate on the website and she said it hadn't been updated in a couple years. I felt like it was a bait and switch scam. I asked her if there was a way to make it at a lower cost. Maybe if I bought materials. She then proceeded to say she would go to a fabric warehouse in PORTLAND to shop around for fabric but said it would cost a minimum of $5/yard. She said she would do some research and order a few fabric swatches. She took my phone number but she NEVER called me back. I ended up going to an actual bridal boutique out of town and got a NEW dress for less than half of what Bella Jean Boutique quoted me. read more

I called them after I was told by another local seamstress that my dress was "too complicated to hem and I'll be busy during December with winter formal dresses". They did an average job altering my wedding dress, but the price was outrageous for such a simple job (I had a similar alteration done elsewhere on another dress, and it was less than half at the other place) and it took them too long to do, they had my dress for weeks (I just needed the top taken in a bit so it didn't show too much cleavage when I leaned forward, and had them sew one piece of ribbon around the waist). I probably would have given them 4 stars if I hadn't taken another dress somewhere else for the same thing, and if they had my dress ready when they said they would. I waited weeks, and made the appointment to pick it up while I was there dropping off my dress, but when I went back they claimed my appointment was not for several more days, so I had to go back, and they were not very friendly. Unless you need something very complicated done, I would suggest looking elsewhere. read more
