Ordered 6 subs and a quart of soup today for take out lunch. The place was expensive $76.21 which included a 20% tip. Once I returned to the house we were missing a sub and decided to take that on the chin since the subs were decent size the kids could share. All in all the food was below what I would have expected from the look of things in the deli when I walked in. I wish the food matched the atmosphere. 2 stars was given due to the below average food, above average cost, and missing turkey sub. I wish I could give them a shot again but I just can't allow myself the disappointment. read more

Awesome little deli and market. Bella Gusto is a welcome addition to downtown O! Love the bread they use for their sandwiches. The traditional Italian sub is nothing short of amazing. I don't know how traditional or old school this place is but to be it reminds me of something you would find in an old Italian neighborhood in any of the major U.S. cities (never been to Italy!) I'm a small business owner and I do lots of sales calls and especially presentations. Today was no exception and the appointment was in Chicago. Late yesterday the potential client called and asked that I provide "a healthy snack for the attendees". Short of pulling granola bars out of my cabinet, I was stumped. I called my friend Renee at Bella Gusto and she was wonderful! She built a beautiful Italian & Meat platter including peppers, olives, water crackers and homemade garlic toasts. She included plates, forks, napkins. The tray accommodated 10-12 people. These potential clients went crazy when they saw my Wisconsin version of healthy! We had to delay the presentation so they could eat and rave about the food! They were in a great mood and a perfect audience. This is my favorite restaurant in Oconomowoc. Their food is fantastic and the minute you walk in the door you're treated like family. They made me feel so welcome during COVID. The staff know their customers by their first names. The deli is AMAZING and they have the best cannolis I have ever had. Their prices are so reasonable got the high end foods they carry. Finally good pizza in Oconomowoc! The recent addition of the brick oven was just what this place needed to make it one of our favorite places in the area. Only holdback for a 5-star review- you have to get your drinks out of the cooler and order the meals at the register. Wait service begins and ends with delivery of your order to the table, which makes it tough to tip well. We have been here a few times and absolutely love this little place. Today we had the deluxe pizza and ceasar salad. As well as a Dang that's good Italian cherry soda. We had 3 delish visits to your restaurant. The 4th visit was in May. We brought my father in law who was visiting from out of town. When we arrived there were only 2 tables with people at them. We became the third table. 90 minutes later the restaurant was full and almost everyone had eaten except for us. You told my husband that it couldn't be helped because you were short staffed. However, as a former waitress myself, I noticed that no other tables had a hard time getting their food in a timely fashion due to the "short staffed" issue that day. Dozens of people came and picked up pizzas walked out we still sat there with no food and when it finally arrived it was ice cold. We have never been back since, because we were completely disgusted by the way that you handled it. The real issue was that my daughter ordered the Italian mac & cheese and there was nobody there that day to make it. It came to the table as a cold cheese soup with noodles in it and actual cold/unmelted shreds of mozzarella on top and it was supposed to be "al forno". You do have some delicious food. We thought it would be a place we would frequent constantly, but unfortunately we've never been back. That was May, It's now August and you're still posting on FB that you have 90 minute wait times and unhappy customers. Your customer service is lacking, and how you prioritize checks (in-house/online orders) needs to be looked at. It all could've been resolved by simply saying that you were unable to make the mac & cheese that day, and suggesting a better menu item in place of it. That's how easily that problem could've been fixed. Keep that in mind for the future. read more

We've been trying to find a new restaurant in the Oconomowoc area, we heard of Bella Gusto so I decided to ordered up some lunch for my wife and I, seemed a bit pricey but I ran a Italian deli in my younger years and I always believed good quality food is worth the price. I ordered my wife grandma's meatball sandwich and for myself I chose the uncle joey's combo and 2 orders of Mozzarella sticks that came to over 48 dollars, holy shit is right because the sandwiches are 6 inches long only. The sandwiches where ok except for the deterioration of the bread. The mozzarella sticks on the other hand are not fried or breaded but wrapped in wonton sheets now apparently I'm eating at a Chinese restaurant and from what I can tell baked it their Pizza oven which where nice and browned on the top but completely raw on the bottom which we through out at over 8 dollars per order, my recommendations is you can eat many other places in Oconomowoc cheaper and better quality food then this. Their market prices are over priced as well and you can get them cheaper at a grocery store and the parking there, well don't get me started on that. read more

Took my grandchildren for lunch. We were greeted by every worker we encountered. Very warm and inviting. We ordered pizza and a panini. The pizza was excellent. Aesthetic is cute, but we received careless attention from the owner who was working as cashier and food was subpar. There was no one else in the restaurant but we stood at the counter as the owner continued washing trays a few feet away until we politely asked if she could take our order. We had a 1 year old with us and asked for a high chair, which she forgot to bring out until we were nearly finished eating. She did not seem to feel we were worthy of her attention. Wife and I finally made it to Bella Gusto Saturday for a casual downtown dinner before a walk around the lake. We both ordered a small salad and we shared a small chicken barbecue pizza. Every employee we spoke with was genuinely friendly and seemed happy to be there and happy to help. We thought we needed to stand around inside to wait on our food and then take it outside to the street side tables but we were quickly encouraged to go set outside because " we know you guys are out there and we will bring you your food". We did and within less than 10 minutes we were served our fresh side salads. The wait staff was attentive and genuinely interested that we had everything we needed.Our pizza came out in just about the right time. Crust is just like we like it and the ingredients were super fresh. Again, we were checked on several times, but never felt hurried or rushed. The whole experience was a pleasant surprise; the food was excellent but the staff was simply stellar. Kudos! We will be back and we will definitely brag on this place to others. read more

Extremely satisfied! I took my friend here for a recent lunch. It was a cold rainy day and this proved to be the perfect choice. First the coffee was very good brewed quite strong not bitter made with good beans. We both chooses the 1/2 sandwich with soup or salad. There were three different soup choice. We got the split pea with sausage. Excellent choice, couldn't have made it any better. For the sandwich my friend got caprese panini and I got the meatball sub. Both were very good, although the meatball sub was absolutely amazing. This is why we returned for dinner the next day. We all ordered baked mostacholi. Choice of sausage or meatballs including combination of both. Dinner included a small spinach salad with balsamic vinegarette and garlic bread. The only drawback was the sauce was a bit spicy i liked it more than my dinner companions. Great wine and beer choices. I had a glass of Pinot Noir. Wouldn't exactly decide to visit this AMAZING restaurant based off what drunk, keyboard warriors have to say.. wouldn't exactly base it off of other people's experiences either. The world is FULL of critics that wouldn't know the difference between great food and a TV dinner! Here is my experience.. my husband and I decided after trick or treat to get ourselves a pizza, wings and mozzarella sticks. Although we had a few stops to make before finally getting home, our food was beyond stellar! The pizza was excellent! Great crust and flavor. My husband was impressed with the size and taste of his wings. My mozz sticks were fabulous! Renee and her husband Tom were very friendly and welcoming! We had a great experience from the time we walked in until the time we left. Give Bella Gusto a try, not because I am saying so but because they're food is delicious and fresh! It's an authentic east coast Italian bakery/ deli right here in Oconomowoc! The food was excellent - our party had pizza, salad, subs and paninis and everything was very good. My boyfriend stopped into Bella Gusto a few days ago, and wouldn't shut up about it. He had a sub while he was there, but also brought home freshly made lobster, cheese, and butternut squash ravioli, some freshly grated Parmesan, and some Italian cookies. We made some of the ravioli tonight, and I've got to say I was impressed. This is not your run of the mill American-Italian shops, but an authentic Italian sandwich shop that uses recipes that have been handed down for generations.
