I had a Groupon promotion and called the merchant to confirm deal. Anyway, I made an appointment…read moreand while I was sitting there waiting, I noticed they require (Mandatory) to pay fixed amount they are demanding on gratuity. Now, In Groupon promotion there was no word mentioned gratuity amount nor percentage that is expected to be added to promotion price or to original price, or to any other amount . In any event, I wanted to be honest and prior of receiving service, I told the girl I was $4 short on tip per her required list (calculation was based on promotion cost). She was persistent and advised I pay using cc yet did not mention I will carry the 3%-4% surcharge, so good thing I was 'alert' and mentioned a possible surcharge, and she then smiled. Then she advised I use Venmo, Zelle, etc...and at this point, I was ready to leave and so I refused! For $4 we are having a 10 minutes discussion, so by principal I refuse to give-in. She rather lose a potential customer for $4.00 less on tip? I can always find another place that will not only be honest to mention in advance their gratuity and any other terms of payment, as well as a place that provides great service and is less stiff. This place is clearly not honest, difficult and greedy and does not understand the 'cost of business'. At La vita Day Spa, earning $0 and losing a potential customer might be more profitable ???

Really disappointed in the way this vendor handled our conversation. Once I inquired about a 30/45…read moreminute earlier arrival (due to photographer demands) she added on a $50 fee in order to arrive earlier than before discussed. Fine, this fee was additional for her time I get it, but I wrote back saying I wanted to speak to my husband regarding the price increase and then just generally asked if we could do 30/45 minutes earlier instead of an hour and a half as she suggested/ so it wasn't so early and she was quick to say we wouldn't be a good match. I never questioned her pricing or work, I was just inquiring about a later start time to sleep in a bit more when a full day of events is ahead. I was quite upset with how she handled the conversation and was so quick to turn away working together due to making an assumption that I didn't want to pay or that I wanted a discount? I never asked nor mentioned anything about a discount or lowering her price. It is a shame because I wanted to work together and had no issues with the pricing for the services provided- I just wanted to clear with my husband (especially since he's the one paying for and driving me to the event hence why timing is important). Wouldn't recommend her because of the way this scenario went. I am planning on using another hair/makeup artist that will not act this way. 2 stars because she is responsive via email. So I'll be fair and give credit when it comes to her communication.

She applied makeup in a heavy and sloppy manner (overdrawn lips, muddy cheeks, obvious eye brows, patchy foundation, wrong color foundation). 4. She applied a liquid highlighter and it streaked down my cheek, but she never corrected it (among other mess ups she did not correct). 5. She used heavy and cheap false eye lashes. 6. She was unresponsive during the trial when I told her I was not happy with how the makeup turned out. 7. The updo she gave me fell out approximately 1 hour later. I didn't even go outside with it. 8. She cashed both the trial and deposit checks (a total of $408) despite my expressed unhappiness with her work.

I've been going there since around 2006 give or take, mostly for checkups and cleanings. Sometimes…read morethe receptionist wasn't very friendly and could use better people skills, but I overlooked that because the prices were reasonable at the time and it was conveniently close to where I lived. I always scheduled early morning appointments since I suffer from cluster headaches and prefer to get in and out quickly, and I made them aware of this. I've never missed an appointment. In recent years, prices have kept going up, and now there's even a new credit card fee. I still planned to keep going because I liked that Dr. Dijour's office was clean and well maintained, and in the past, I had recommended them to friends and family. My appointment today was set for 8:45 AM, but last week I was out of town and accidentally left my phone at home. When I got back Sunday night, I saw their text and confirmed as usual before going to bed. When I arrived this morning, I was told my appointment was removed because they require confirmation 24 hours in advance. I don't recall being told that, but I could understand it. Still, given my perfect attendance, I expected some benefit of the doubt. Instead, they only offered me a new afternoon slot, knowing I only do early mornings. I honestly feel this was intentional. I've also informed the receptionist in the past that any calls or messages must come from a phone that is in my contacts because my phone is set up only to accept phone numbers in it, if not it will not ring. Anyway, it time to try someone new just a few blocks down on 516 in Old Bridge.
