We stopped here as part of the No. 1 tour for Premium Tours including a tour of Windsor Castle, Bath, and Stonehenge on 30 December 2011.
They offer you of 3 set menus and often dessert. Myself and 2 of my friends got the fried fish and chips since that is one of the things England is known for while the 3rd friend got the Mediterranean Salad. None of us really enjoyed the dishes. The salad did not taste fresh while the fish appeared overcooked.
Beer and dessert are extra. The desserts were actually pretty good including cheesecake and a sticky toffee pudding. If given the choice, I'd only have the beer and the dessert. Maybe an off day but it only takes one impression for a foodie of any type.
The service is pretty good and fast considering there were 70 people on our tour bus.
The interior was very nice and clean, very quaint, quite English, and the perfect ambiance for a drink and to catch up with old friends. Oddly, I met 4 other people from the Austin area (so I was not the only Austinite there (I still have my Texas DL, plates, and Austin address despite moving to Calgary).
I would not go out of my way to come here unless I found out that my food experience was an off day but if you are hungry or just need a beer and dessert, then this will work for you. If you are hankering for something better, better off to drive to Bath or London. read more
