We went to Belk to finish piecing together funeral attire. A white shirt for my son and husband, and a blue shirt for son for a thespian induction ceremony this week. We found everything except a belt for my young teenage son. Belts for his size are difficult to find. We did find one, just not here. Even better, when we checked out at cosmetics, the girl helped us with a recommendation to download the app to scan a coupon and save us some money. If I could, I would give BELK a -10! I had not been in the store for 2 years because when I signed up for rewards, I had to cancel everything and unsubscribe from everything. This week, I bought 2 items, did NOT sign up for rewards or credit card. They somehow tied me into their spam network and in THREE days, I got SEVEN spam emails. Disgusting. Dressing room after 3 hours of being opened on a Saturday at 1pm. August 10, 2024. A sticky panty protector stuck to the floor. The pile of dust. Just unacceptable. There was no crowd in the store. I could count the people in the store on 2 hands. The store has gone way downhill. There's no upkeep. The grounds and parking lot are unkempt. Pot holes everywhere. Cute department store. Very friendly customer service and sales people. We had questions in the fragrance and makeup departments. Also in the purse section. And, when we were ready to make our purchases the sales lady gave us a 20% off coupon. I would never buy anything here at full price, because they are very expensive. But their sale prices are excellent. read more

Update January 2020: I walked through the sliding doors at 8:20 PM on a Tuesday. The store was quiet but a couple of people were walking about. I bee-lined to the shoes and picked up a shoe to check it out. I heard a woman's voice say harshly, "ma'am we're closed." I turned to face her as I was surprised by the comment. I apologized nicely and said I had no idea because the automatic doors let me in and I thought I saw 9pm on the hours posted on the door. She didn't smile. She didn't say anything. She just stared at me with a look like I was an a-hole. Another employee came by to try to save face by smiling and saying on Tuesdays they close at 8. I again said I'm sorry and NOTHING from the other woman. Rude rude rude. I will never patronize the store after two separate poor experiences. Understaffed. I ended up leaving because only one person was working in the department and there were two customers in line already. I noticed in another department a customer also waiting for a long time. During the holiday season you'd think they'd staff up f. Side note, this feels like a small town version of Belk. I've been in much nicer ones that have nicer items and better merchandising. read more

After moving to NC, I discovered Belk. The store in my area quickly became a favorite and set the tone for my Belk shopping. When I saw this store in Atlanta, I knew I had to go in. From the outside, it is a very attractive, appealing store that exuded personality. I also realized, it was not as large as my favorite Belk at Crabtree in Raleigh. On entry, it did have a more compact feel and sadly, impressed me more as a Kohl's. This isn't how I expect to find what I consider a more upscale department store. I started to look at a section with one of my favorite brands. The first thing I found when looking at some appealing items was limited or no small sizes and mostly L and XL. I know the line offers XS... my size. I know stores will carry the items that are expected to sell but no smaller sizes. I did look at quite a few items and find it had to believe they were all gone. Btw, I went to my favorite, larger store a few days later and they had everything... and I bought too much of it! We wandered some more but just didn't feel it here with my Belk expectations. This place was a train wreck. I came in to buy some of my favorite YellowBox flip flops. The shoe department was very messy with no rhyme or reason to the boxes. The flip flops were on big racks but not organized by size or style. There was a lady wanting to try on shoes. She couldn't even get anyone to get her shoes. I only saw two people working in that entire side of the store. One was at a cash register and one was working in the makeup department. After I finished digging and found the shoes I wanted I stood in line to check out. It took almost ten minutes before I was ready to be rung up and there was only one person in front of me. And the poor lady was still waiting to have someone help her get a shoe size. I was really disappointed with this Belk and will avoid it in the future. read more

I'M CONFUSED! The people who shop at this location and love it are probably not the same people who shop at the Buford location. There is just no way that these two stores are related. If these stores were the classic God Father movie, this store would be part three, a long slide into confusion. Due to its location in the forum, I expected much more. If you are looking for women's clothing, you will probably be fine. However, I would not recommend this location for quality shoes, accessories or men's clothing. I have found the Buford location to be better stocked with better brands. It is just a much better overall experience. Shop and compare! read more

I don't frequent the store, although I enjoy department stores. Not loving this one. In every visit I am tested as a customer whether it is worth my patience to spend my money here. Merchandise seems all over the store, a bit in disarray. Boxes to pack or unpack (I don't know) everywhere. Maybe fun to wonder like in a maze, but for that there is always TJmaxx, I guess. Staffs usually disappear, as they tend to leave you shop alone, at least I always feel like I am alone in the whole store. If I need help, go around to find another person and first ask if they are customers or attendants, as I can't easily tell them apart. It seems curtomers sometimes wonder behind the counters, too. Many times I've felt attendants annoyed to be bothered with customers, and only know what they are working on and nothing else from the rest of the store, so don't bother with questions, specially from another department. Once you find what you want, good luck coming across someone willing to stop what they are doing for check out. That's how I feel, every time. Sometimes you are lucky and find the only one register that is open, but if you see a line, no matter how short, it's going to be a while with the sweet lady that is buying up the store sharing the stories of all the grandkids, price checking every item, and going through the expired coupons. Yes, this is not a store I frequent. But this happens every single time. Or maybe it's just my luck. read more

My customer service rant continues. Yesterday: Not an associate in sight. Looking...see someone dodging me and having an obviously personal phone call. Makes eye contact and hopes I don't see her. But I do and ask if she works here. She does and pivots the microphone from her face to confirm she does. I ask my question and she doesn't know of course. The associated from lingerie overheard and apologizes and directs me to what I'm looking for. We manage find all we need and end up with a Childrens tie that doesn't have a bar code. The associate asks my 11yr old if he knows where we got this and could go find one with a bar code. She proceeds to go back to hanging other inventory. About 5 min goes by. BTW...I'm visibly impaired with a broken ankle and noticeably uncomfortable . My 13 year old asks me if I want him to go help his brother. The associate try's to be kind and offer me a chair...I lose it..."what you can do is go help this little. It's find the bar code." She replies, "I don't work in that department." I exclaim, "NEITHER DOES HE!!!" Never going back!!! read more

I LOATHE shopping for clothes. I absolutely hate going into a clothing store, looking through racks and racks of items, trying them on, dealing with clothes hangers and then dealing with the absurd price tag. I hate digging around, searching for the ideal item, navigating narrow aisles and dealing with clutter. It can be overwhelming and not enjoyable. But, I decided to venture here anyway. I'm in need of an Easter dress for myself (haven't bought one in 10 years), that will used for multiple weddings this summer. So I was in need of a functional dress to wear on multiple occasions. Since I needed something of good quality and not some raggedy outfit, I budgeted $100 for the dress. Coming into this place, I was pleasantly surprised. The whole place was bright and cherry. Ample lighting. Ample space. Ample signage. And lots of bright colors everywhere! I guess I thought I was going into Hollister and I would need a flashlight to see. Instead of searching aimlessly for dresses randomly stocked throughout the Women's department, I knew exactly where to go and where to look. A whole large section dedicated to just dresses! And thankfully, they were having an Easter sale! They had a nice selection of all different types of dresses, so I loaded up on several different choices in my size and went to the fitting room. The fitting room was pretty clean. They had signs posted everywhere reminding customers to put their clothing items on the rack instead of leaving them in the fitting room, but, of course, not everyone does that. There were a few dresses in my dressing room, but nothing to fret over. I tried on a handful and then BOOM. I found my dress. Girls will understand, once you put it on, you just know it's the one. It fits, it flatters and it works for you. Finally, a dress to satisfy my pickiness. Once I saw the price tag, though, I was dismayed. I returned the dress to the rack I got it from and lo and behold, my dress is on sale! My dress was $99! Perfect because it fit my budget. I walked up to the counter to check out, ready for pay the $99. Then I remembered I had some Belks gift cards from Christmas. One for $40, one for $12. Then I remembered I had a 20% off coupon from the mail. After all the discounts and gift cards, I paid $32 for my dress that was originally $138! I saved $100+! I usually hate department stores, but I'll come back for the cleanliness, the organization, the layout, the signage and the nice people who helped me check-out. read more

Belk is my favorite small format, privately owned, not Kohl's store. Good parking. Bright lighting. Clean store and helpful folks. Most familar with the men's section. Carry some pretty good brands like Columbia, Nautica, Lucky and such. Good clearence rack can get you discounts of 75% off MSRP. Sara in the ladies under garment department knows her stuff. Three times I've shopped and taken her advise over the last year and a half. She is a soft spoken woman who knows how to talk to "ladies" and gives advise on how things are supposed to fit and feel. She will give you privacy if wanted but lets face it "the girls are important" so if you are o.k. with her being in the room she will have you raising your arms and turning from side to side (bra on) and let you know what does/doesn't look right. Thank you! This last time in asked for her cards (for coworkers) and signed up for a personal customer list. Explanation was all you have to do is call, they have your list of likes so no running around trying on ten or twenty different things. If they have it, you may come in and pick it/them up or have it shipped. Sara's knowledge on which companies runs smaller to larger is most helpful as they vary a lot. This department often has a sale and worth checking into for your privates like buy one get one or 25-50% off. read more

Being a manager in retail stores for over ten years now makes me watch everything when I go into stores. I go to this Belk quite often because I work in the forum. Every time I go, it is always the same thing. The associates do not speak to you at all. I just went over to buy some shoes because I have a big event tonight. There was a lady working in the shoes department who was checking someone out. So I walked around and look at a few shoes. After she finished at the register she stood there and then picked up the phone and was making a personal phone call. I kept looking. Another associate walked over and then they start talking. They are talking about another employee, which is very bad business, and then the associate started trying on boots. The first associate was helping her pick some out, "Oh! You should buy these! You know we don't get these here. Someone returned them." They kept carrying on. And after 10 minutes I couldn't take it anymore. I just left. It is beyond me how such a big retailer does not train their employees on interacting with customers. Neither one of these ladies spoke to me and the were looking at shoes right next to the pair I was looking at. If I saw my employees acting like this, not helping customers, I would be having a meeting right away. This needs to be addressed. read more

This is going to sound more like a "thank you" letter to Michelle at the Estee Lauder counter than anything because, well, it is. Not that I have anything against this Belk location, but Michelle saved me. And I am in debt to her. I don't wear or know much about make up, but here I was -- 4 days before my sister's birthday dinner and no sign of the new bronzer she wanted. I spent the morning calling literally 8 other stores in the city, including 3 other area Belks and NONE were as helpful as Michelle. When I finally got ahold of her, not only did she mention that they actually got the product in, but she remembered seeing one console recently and was going to look for it and call me back. How excited was I?! First awesome move. She called back about 10 minutes later and said that the counter had been rearranged the day prior but that she was confident it was still there. She was going to call the girl who worked yesterday (but was off that day) and ask her where she put it. Again, offering to call me back as soon as she found out. Honesty and dedication. For a $40 bronzer? This girl must be out of her mind! Nope. Just really helpful and good at her job! On my way home from work, she called back with the good news. She hunted it down and had it waiting for me with my name on it. YATZY! I knew this would totally make my sister's day, and it made me happy I could hunt down such a precious make up treasure in Atlanta. And I have Michelle's persistence and personal service to thank. Michelle defines what customer service should be. If I wore make up, I would shop as much with her as I was able to! read more

This is a nice Belk considering it's small size. They have a large selection of designer items, and a smaller selection of moderately priced items. The employees are super nice and the store is clean and organized. I do like shopping here when I am in the area. read more

When I got back home from shopping at Belk and having no luck with my latest coupons, I decided to go online to see if I could have done better with my purchase on the internet. I found the same items I purchased that day (my size was out of stock on the internet so I selected another size of the same items) and added them to my cart. The purchase price online was the same as in the store. I entered the 20% off code offered for the online purchase and, low and behold, it worked for my online purchase! So the in-store coupon would not work but the online coupon did work for the same items. However, the shipping charge negated the 20% discount. I could have added another $35.00 to my purchase to get free shipping but I didn't have anything more to purchase. So, in a nutshell, they get you coming and going. You either pay more at the store or purchase more online. Belk one, me nothing. read more
