My first time here & I am impressed with the men's selections, especially clearance. Lots of 70-75% off, just to my liking :-) They also have a huge husbands chair. It takes me only 30 minutes to shop, but much more for the wife. This, J have a place to sit & write this review. Belk caries a more quality brand of clothes, and well-made brands. My only notation, even though this is a five-star, is that I always thought Belk was a furniture store. I was surprised at the type & quality of offerings. It's a great place for menswear. read more

Just like a department store! The women's selection isn't as high volume as the men's but worth coming in. Jewelry, purses, shoes, clothing, etc. Quiet. Open parking. Clean. I like this store, but it has problems that don't seem to go away. The AC has been broken for 3 years. Three years!! This is central/soth Texas and sometimes the store is too hot to shop in! I feel sorry for the associates. The dressing rooms are not clean, they are pretty nasty, there is a buildup of dirt behind every door, on every mirror, not to mention the crotch paper on the walls. I came to Yelp to review Belk, then noticed I had already posted about an unpleasant experience over 4 years ago. That's how long it has been since I I shopped here and it was worse today, so now I am thinking I will not be back at all. The store itself is junky, with several dressing rooms being closed, no employees to assist with anything. The A/C must not be working because there are fans blowing everywhere. The dressing rooms are piled with discarded clothes.....on every chair, every rack/hook. It's awful. What really turned me off the store today was the associate who rang up my clothes. Older woman, gray hair, thick rimmed glasses. She asked me about a credit card when I walked up. I told her I didn't have one. She offered, I declined. Then she told how much I'd save and how many rewards I would earn. I declined again. Then she asked me if I had "the coupon". I said no. She told me I needed to download the app to get it. I asked if I could find it online. She said it was easier if I downloaded the app. While she was talking I googled "Belk coupon", pulled it right up and showed it to her. She stopped talking, looked irritated with me, and scanned it. When she told me my total she asked a third time about the credit card and said "are you sure you don't want to save $36.00 and earn $30 in rewards?". I told her no thank you for the third time. Then she asked me for my email. I told her I don't have an email with Belk. She said "well I'd be happy to sign you up if you give me your email". I said no that's ok, I don't give out my email. After that, she quit making eye contact with me, she handed me bag and said "have a good day" without looking at me. Then she proceeded to turn to her employee and talk about me. She held her hand up at me as if I had been the rude one. I refuse to shop at stores that act like they cannot complete a transaction without asking for every bit of personal information about me. The style selections are for young & much older, nothing in between. The customer service isn't top knotch, but you figure since it's so hot inside their store, you really can't blame them! Every visit I have made, the air isn't working. They have these air blower systems set up, but when customers have sweat dripping from their hair, it isn't a pleasant shopping experience. Coupons & sales are usually given, but you really aren't saving when the original prices are above average. $50 for a tee, c'mon they can do better!! read more

I walked up to the main cash wrap to find Amy texting on her phone. I politely with a smile said, "hi Amy" No smile, no welcome. I asked her if I could please throw away the perfume strips I had to which she was EXTREMELY DRAMATIC to the point I felt very uncomfortable. I understand someone could be allergic. I get that! All she had to do was smile and say, "of course!" And stick out a trash can for me to throw them into myself. When I say it was over the top ridiculous it was and she wasn't even friendly. I stood there watching this show I thought would never end and I started laughing and said that was the most dramatic thing I've ever seen. To which she said, if you were allergic you would understand. Well, first off unfriendly from the start and if she was so allergic she never needed to go near them at all! Just say with a smile, "yes of course" & point me to a trash... Now however an associate in Clinique 008431 with red hair and glasses managed to salvage my dignity. She was friendly more than once even asking if I needed help while I meandered the entire store. So kudos to the Clinique gal! I'd love for you to watch the video of this entire interaction. I love this store for shopping always family friendly feeling service. I should copyright that last phrase. This place always has sales going on but the merchandise is already reasonably priced. This is a large store and it is always kept clean. The only thing I wish they carried on top of all the high end name brands they already stock would be Lacoste. Belk - Fragrance - Department Stores Near Me - New Braunfels, Texas

I hadn't been in a Belk store in over 50 years. Last time I was, it was in a (long gone) Belk-Lindsey store in another state. Those were some fond memories, as Belk in its heyday was a full-line department store, with electronics, furniture, and appliances. I was apparently a favorite of the young women who staffed their record department, as I could pick out my own vinyl at age three. When I stepped in this Belk store for the first time, I found it to be clean, bright, and well-organized. My first thoughts were to compare it to a Kohl's, Bealls, or modern JC Penney's, but Belk is an improvement on most of those stores. Of course, Belk is no longer full-line, but now reduced to clothing, bedding, and kitchenware. "Sales" abound, mostly on house-brand wearing apparel, as is the case with most mid-line department stores. Discounts that I saw were up to 60% off retail. Their men's apparel department was smaller than I would have expected, but that's not too unusual. The shoe department seemed like an afterthought, although it was separate for men and was limited to dress shoes. Their kitchenware section is also paltry. I wasn't able to spend much time here, mostly because I'd just gotten an urgent text to report work on my day off which threw a wet blanket on my outing. I'll try to revisit at another time when I can focus my attention on Belk's offerings more fully and report back. Recommended. read more

Be careful with their credit card. They accepts your payment but then sends it back (?!). No informing emails about something went wrong whatsoever but the late fees after submitted payment for full amount online and having confirmation! I have visited this place twice and found both shopping experiences very pleasant. My 14 year old was looking for a dress for a dance and there were so many to choose from with great prices! It reminds me of a smaller Dillard's. They seem to cater to the women/girls more. Couldn't find much for my 10 year old son. Deals were found everywhere especially in the shoe dept. The big sale racks were unkempt and I did wait a little longer than expected at the register when the store didn't seem to be busy. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! The customer service is ridiculous. I must of been in there an hour and literally only saw 3 employees and not one of them said 'hello', 'can I help you?' or 'welcome to Belk'! The ONLY reason I stayed in the store was due to trying to find the right dress! However, the dressing room area was a disaster. Not the rooms, but the multiple huge racks just outside the rooms where people hang what they didn't want! They were jammed with so much clothing that IF there was a dress in there to try I would not of been able to pull it out of the rack. I did decide to purchase one of the dresses I tried on. I walked up to the cashier and she literally walked away to do something and did not return. I was wondering if I was literally invisible! After a few minutes a different lady came to me and said if I wanted to check out I needed to go to fine jewelry to do so. Really? She sent me away instead of taking care of an actual customer! Every time I'm driving through New Braunfels I drop in because I always find some item that comes home with me. Belk carries several name brands (Kors-Effy-Joan Vass..), plus they carry their own brand called Crown & Ivy which has great quality and classic designs. The brands are much better in the regular sizes. I give four stars for the cosmetics dept. They aren't always well stocked and are slow to restock. The employees in this dept try their best. Well when the store first opened, customer service was a 10+. I told an employee Bealls should take lessons from Belk for customer service. I have been disappointed here lately in the shoe department. A young lady there is like she's there because she needs a job, but not very helpful or courteous. A young man that has waited on me a couple of times gets a 10+ for his friendly approach and service. They do seem to be short on employees the last few times I've been there. I usually look for a very friendly lady that works in fine jewelry, Vivian I think is her name. Always helpful, friendly and very courteous. She's worked in Petites, Children's clothing and now fine jewelry. They should have more Vivians. She's exceptional. read more

This is a nice store and is usually clean and easy to find merchandise. One issue is I wanted to purchase 2 t-shirts and could find no one to ring me up. The store was not busy, but there was no one in the men's department to ring it up. I took it as a sign a put the shirts back. read more

Went to buy shoes and there was no one else in the shoe dept. but me. The girl who works in the shoe dept was standing behind the counter the entire time talking to her friend. She never once asked if she could help me get a size or acknowledged me period. I had to wait until her friend left then approach her for the shoe size I needed. She brought the boxes but never followed up if they fit, if I needed another size. I was so annoyed to have to try to get her attention again for a different size that I just left. What a waste of time. 45 minutes to try on 2 pairs of shoes. Other ppl post the same problem, and I myself have dealt with same thing on a different day by a different worker in the shoe dept. I would highly suggest management retrain or educate them on their customer service skills because they are losing a lot of customers. read more

went to the jelwery section to purchase a gift bad decision felt very disrespekted by the old hag that was there i waited for almost 20 min before she even noticed i was there. well while waiting she seemed very nice at first but with her customers before me she had no problem asking them for. an id at check out even though there first card they used was declined so she joked about it and ask well lets try yure mastercard there purchase was over 500 it went threw not once did she ask the couple for an id to go with the payment she imediatly wrapped it up and told them have a nice day ..well im waiting for her to purchase somthing she at first says hi would you like to purchase an item mam i say yes she then grabs. what i want to purchase then says well how much do you think this is i think nothing of it she says do you got a mastercard or rewards card are you sure there is other jelwery on cleareance can i see first what you paying with i look at her like excuse me mam you have no right to tell me what i can buy or suggest what i can afford so i play it cool and say well no i want to purchase those two items please she then says ok so i take out my belk credit card then she says ok well let me put them in a pretty box i said ok well she rings me up then out of nowhere says can i see some id please i cant sell them to you unless youre id matches yure credit card im like you just wrung up the customers before me not once did you ask for no form of id she says well its policy well i went to grab my id and i said forget it ...rather shop on line lft back to san antonio with no gift and just hope this doesnt happen to anyone cause i wasted gas for nothing just to be treated unfair ...bad customer service rude lady at jelwery department .. read more
