Belk is one of the nicest stores around for men's clothing. They have a large department with a wide variety. Everything from casual to professional. All at reasonable prices. The women's department is not as nice as the men's, because it seems very disorganized. Too much merchandise for the area - hard to maneuver. Overall, I do like going there. read more

I popped into this store to buy some socks. That is all. When I went to ring out, the cashier (Deborah) asked if I'd like to open a Belk charge account. I declined, only to have the Indian gentleman who had walked up ask me two more times about the charge account. I said no each time, and let him know he could ask 25 more times and the answer would be the same. Deborah finished the transaction, but I could hear him berating her for not trying hard enough as I walked away. Misogyny has NO place in today's retail world. The worst customer support in my life. I ordered online and went to pick up in store. There is only one counter for paying in the store and you are forced to stand in the line with everyone and their purchases to do a pickup. There were 15 people in line and 2 cashiers. I called the store number and was told to go to the cosmetics counter and someone would help. Big surprise, nobody there. Finally found a lady but by that time someone else had walked up for assistance. She told me she couldn't help me because now she had customers.....guess I was not a customer. Called to cancel my order and was told it would auto cancel in 14 days. So now the charge is on my card for two weeks. Never again Belks. Plus the store is a total disaster. Dressing rooms are filthy, dirt and dust balls on the floor. Every room filled to the brim. Oh, I also asked for a manager but they never showed up either. Horrible experience. read more

I was ready to purchase but with only two people in front of me there was way too talking with everyone. Either get more people or call someone over to help. I never really shopped Belk until a few weeks ago, and now it's one of my favorite stores. The associates have always been more than happy to help, even searching for coupons to help my bottom line out. I love their products and even more love their sales. I took my husband yesterday and he is NOT a "shopper". However, he's an outdoorsman and they had many brands and types of clothing he likes. He says he LOVES that store and never knew it was so cool. We went in yesterday at 545PM to do a return. Sign says open until 6. When we walked in the makeup counter lady said the store is closed. I told her the doors are open and the sign says 6PM. I see better selections at Walmart! Popular brands have totally disappeared from the store. I hate that there is no one in each department to help you. Clothing looks cheap. Perfume/makeup shelves are practically empty. Tried to buy my husband some shirts for spring, all they had in store were cheap brands that were overpriced. The store was dirty, messy, and had no "welcoming" appeal. They only have two operating registers in whole store. Customer service no longer exists. I rarely leave this store with a purchase! We had never shopped at a Belk's before so had no idea where to find what we needed. a lady named Valerie showed us to the childrens shoes. and got us the best deal on shoes. fantastic service. she was friendly. professional and involved our children in the process. I have been a Belk customer for years but have decided to no longer shop there. The one in Flower Mound does not keep enough staff to help at the registers during lunch. Also,Returned Columbia Flannel shirts my adult boys received as a gift at Christmas and got back $71 for even though I know their grand mother paid 54 each. (Mother is 84 and did not include the sales receipt) I should have insulted her and asked for the receipt to be mailed to me. Even worse is that 2 were the same and had different prices and then the next 2 were the same and had different prices! What? The craziest this is a man in front of me was returning a sweat shirt he received as a gift and was told he could have 24 cents back!!! Belk's is ripping people off at Christmas so buyer beware. Let me start by saying I love Belk Dept Store - Love their quality and product lines... but this store has the worst customer service on the planet. Do not buy one single item off of the clearance racks marked with an orange sticker stating its 80% off they will all out refuse to give it to you for that price. The cashiers can't tell the difference between orange and red and when you prove it's orange they still screw you on the price. The first experience she rang it up at 50% off and then said I will give you another 25% off ... Ok that doesn't add up to 80% and I told her to keep it. This time I was shopping for my birthday on my birthday. I had 2 items one was 80% off and she argued it was red which it was not and then asked someone else and she agreed it was orange (80%) and she rang it up at 50% - then told me she had to ask a supervisor and I knew there were people waiting in line (like I was causing a problem) and then said she fixed the price. She took 50% off and then took 30% off of the reduced price making the price of the shirt double the price I was supposed to pay. And she did not take off my coupon I had either. It was my birthday and I had somewhere to go - and did not have time to stick around and once I got home I realized she still over charged me. This store need to either train their employees on the sales or remove every clearance item that is 80% off since they don't want to sale them to you at the price anyway. I don't live close enough to this store to just return it... But I will not be making this drive to this location again. Save your money and shop online or drive into Dallas and shop at the Galleria location. The employees at this store don't want you shop on the clearance racks. Not once but twice the same store and the same problem! ***UPDATE*** I wrote an email online actually it took 2 emails - but none the less - and I had someone contact me the next morning apologizing for the incident and has offered to refund my entire purchase without me even coming back into the store. And has been very kind and helpful and asked for me to come back to the store and give them another chance. I thought the immediate response back definitely shows good customer service on their part - which I am glad about because I really do love the Store itself. Thank you! 2nd Update***** It was all a lie - the refund never came. The person responding wanted to know my home address to send it certified and I said no and gave them my PO Box - where everything goes with no problems ever and magically I have never received anything. When I emailed back and asked how long would it take to receive my refund he said he had sent it the week before and give it until the following Tuesday to see if it arrived and let him know. I waited until Thursday instead and still nothing - I responded back and he said well that's why I didn't want to send cash in the mail to a po box. Who sends cash in the mail? I go to Belk exclusively for their Free People collection. When I go with my mother it seems to be fine, but if I'm alone I get treated poorly. I'm in my early twenties so maybe they think I don't have money to shop there. I got accused of shop lifting, even though I came without a bag and wore normal fitting clothes. I tried something on in the fitting room and a worker came up to me accusing me of shop lifting. I told her she could search me (which is ridiculous because I had nowhere to hide anything). That was about 6 months ago. I went back today by myself after going in weekly with my mother-so they should recognize me. Well I was just there to make a return and the old lady who was my cashier was talking under her breath, shaking her head, and whispering to her coworker. I find this behavior very insulting. Honestly each experience I have seems so good here expect one time which kinda set the tone for the place. After being helped by the wonderful makeup staff, I went to shop for clothes. After shopping, I search around for a fitting room. There was one towards the back with a buggy shifted to the side like someone left it after trying on. However, when I was trying on a staff lady told me with a horrible attitude that the fitting room was closed and to get out as soon as I was finished. Nothing was out of the ordinary in that fitting room and there was no note saying it was closed. Then, the lady said to bring everything to the cash register that didn't work. She didn't not request to help me but had a very negative attitude. Honestly, I wish I got her name because people like her is what pollutes this wonderful store. read more

Bought a romper for my daughter and a sensor was left on. When I went back a week later to have it removed the cashier acted as if I was bothering her. Really? Making another trip to fix a mistake they made was not something I enjoyed. I went here twice for makeup and had a horrible experience both times. The beauty department is highly uneducated regarding what they are selling. I bought some lip gloss and a foundation brush, and needed some assistance finding Lancome foundation to match my skin. A woman named "Rosa" went on to show me a certain foundation she stated was oil free, I made sure to verify because my skin is very sensitive. I put it on for work and it was way too dark for my face so I went back to get a lighter shade, she then gives me a lighter shade and goes on to tell me my face looks orange? Thanks Rosa. You shouldn't be so bitter, even though you're a middle aged woman working at a department store. Horrible customer service. Anyways, I noticed after using it twice that there were bumps on my forehead starting to form. I am never going to Belks again, so I went to Ulta to see if they could help me out. They told me that the foundation she had given me did in fact have oil in it, which caused the small bumps on my forehead. I am sticking to Ulta from now on. I am disappointed that Belks would higher such a revolting individual that has such a lack of knowledge regarding the products they sell. I hope Rosa is terminated in the near future. read more

Two employees were helping in women's shoes, a mere 20 feet away, and three employees running their mouths at the jewelry counter.
