I wanted to try as much as I could before taking up my doctor's referral to a fertility clinic to start looking into IVF, etc... I am so happy to have found Jen. She taught me all about my cycle and how to track my different cycle phases. I learned that even though my ovulation tests were saying I was ovulating, I actually wasn't and we worked to correct hormonal imbalances and my cycle length to improve my chances of getting pregnant. I really appreciated this over the push to get started on infertility drugs since I wanted to try to conceive as naturally as possible. Once we started working on all that, my husband went in to visit Jen as well and found her treatments to help calm and relax the mind. I am so elated to have found Jen and my life will never be the same now! I am expecting my first baby in 2 weeks and cannot say enough about the helpfulness, knowledge, and calming energy Jen exerts. I am beyond happy and hope that others who are struggling with infertility or even other problems give Jen a try. Her calming nature and intense knowledge of TCM is incredibly helpful at calming our nerves when we're stressed out and helping overcome obstacles in our health when need be. Thanks Jen!!

I didn't have Dr. Wiebe although I have to say, I wish I did because she sure sounded amazing. I had another doctor who was also great, but I was not prepared for the pain. I had the anesthetic injected, which I didn't even feel, but I don't know what it did at all because I still writhed from the pain. Luckily, it only lasted about three seconds at a time - inserting the IUD and then perhaps cutting the strings after? Not sure why it hurt twice. It was the most shocking pain, but just know that it is temporary. Afterwards, my blood pressure went super low from the shock and I lay down for a while. Definitely bring someone with you! If I wasn't there with my mum, I would have felt very fragile and vulnerable. The doctors and nurses are all busy, so it's really crucial to have someone just sit with you afterwards. Overall, every woman's body is different so even though it was extremely & temporarily painful, that doesn't mean it will be the same for you. Some women can go back to work after, others are wiped out. All you can do is bring someone with you, have an advil and use the heating pack offered, and maybe ask for another form of anesthetic? Because mine was useless (unless it would have been even more painful without it... in which case I would have literally died not to be dramatic...). Thanks to everyone there!

The window was left open which made me nervous someone from outside could see. She then explained what the inhaler would do like just make you loopy and how to use it, she then proceeded to tell me that I was not allowed to talk the whole procedure which I found very odd. As I was inhaling it I started to get extremely loopy and could barely keep my hand on it because I started blacking out she then kept saying in a rude manner, keep your mouth on it! Three times mind you I was so out of it I started crying uncontrollably because I was terrified and I didn't like the feeling of not knowing what was happening as well as everything went black, I was under the impression I would still be awake and feel it, my fiancé said I kept saying ow and I'm sorry. When it was done I was told to get dressed and go to the rest room to relax, because I was so out of it I felt super faint and nauseous I couldn't stand up just yet, a nurse then came back twice in less then five minutes to tell me I needed to get out and go to the rest room. My fiancé helped me get dressed and at this point I was still crying because I was so out of it. I felt so rushed and that my wellbeing and how I was feeling just got pushed off to the side. I'm not coming back if this is how they are gonna treat people. It was like they were Herding people in and out.

The clinic changed hands a few years ago and the entire operation (both midwives and staff) has changed. I went to Pacific Midwifery before and after the transition, so I have a unique perspective. Half way through my first pregnancy, in mid-2013, I was a patient at Pacific and ended up getting "bounced" and sent to another practice. My experience at Pacific prior to the transfer was less than stellar. After the transfer, I ended up with a pair of midwives who were amazing. Hedieh was one of the two. When I became pregnant again in late-2015 I learned Hedieh (who I love) had moved to Pacific (oh no)! I decided my relationship with Hedieh trumped my prior bad experience with the clinic, so I decided to go back. I'm so glad I did. The new staff is wonderful. The space is beautiful. And Hedieh herself is a gem. She is extremely experienced, and it shows in everything she does. The pre- and post- natal care I received from her with both babies was phenomenal and I cried after my last discharge appointment :) In short, I highly recommend her, and I can't speak for the rest of the practice personally, it sounds like people are really happy. They have a lactation consultant, binders full of resources, and a lending library (and I think they might even have prenatal courses in the clinic now). If you are still deciding between an OB, GP, or midwife, one of the things I didn't realize would be so different was post-partum care. The post-partum care you get with a midwife (at least in my experience) is the gold standard, for both baby and for mom. It's pretty special to have someone looking out for you in that period.

I was under the care of Team 3 for the duration of my pregnancy, birth and postpartum care. They always took the time to answer my questions and were quick to connect me with other resources if needed. I never felt rushed out the door and I always knew how to get in contact with them if needed. I really liked that I got a chance to meet all the midwives on my team. Having the midwives rotate for my prenatal appointments meant that I had built a strong rapport with each of them by the end of my pregnancy. This all but guaranteed that I would have a trusted and familiar face attend me at my birth. I also loved that the first 2 prenatal visits were done in my home. Not having to pack up a newborn and a toddler and rush across town to make it to an appointment on time was truly a godsend. In the end, I couldn't have been happier with my pregnancy and birth experience. I felt safe, empowered, and cared for. With both pregnancies, Team 3 took great care of us, and I always felt like I had ample time to address concerns and never felt like I was being rushed out the door. The midwives were informative, supportive and really advocated for me as they took the time to really understand what I wanted for my birthing plan. When complications arose, I felt taken care of, even if it also felt chaotic - I knew I was in good hands. I also appreciated the home visits postpartum, those visits were certainly integral in my recovery and for the early days in my daughters' lives. The midwives were collaborative with other providers in my care team (I.e. specialists, allied health providers) and the care was truly patient centered. Also, the front staff are amazing, friendly, helpful and easy to talk to as well. You could tell everyone really enjoyed working there/believed in that model of care, and I truly feel like that makes a difference. I wish I could continue receiving care here but sadly I've graduated from midwifery care. Woulid totally recommend!!
