I was visiting the area for work and needed more snacks for my trip and this was the closest grocery store to my location at the time. I drove through miles of business park and thought there's no way there's a grocery store in the middle of this, but alas, Bel Air appeared. I ended up picking up some snack kits and a generic bag of Raley's version of Snack Factory's Pretzel Crisps. I thought how bad can it be...it was pretty bad. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a gift card for my father at Bel Air. The card was for an online retailer. When he scratched off the coating over the card's PIN code, there was no PIN code underneath. He contacted the online merchant, who told him the card was probably counterfeit and needed to be returned to the place of purchase. I got the card back from him and took it to Bel Air. As soon as the young lady working the service desk saw me approaching her with a gift card in my hand, she asked, "Bad gift card?" She then proceeded to explain that their gift card kiosk was maintained by a "third-party service" and that they don't guarantee them or offer returns for gift cards - all sales are final. She also intimated that issues with phony or invalid gift cards are something they're aware of, but it's not their problem. She suggested I reach out to the company that stocks the gift card kiosk, but she could not identify which one. I told her I'm going to dispute the purchase with my bank, and she replied: "That's probably the best way to go." To my thinking, this is a pretty ballsy way of picking up a little cash while abdicating any responsibility as a merchant. There's no way Bel Air isn't making some kind of money on this, either from the rental of the kiosk space, a spiff on each card sold, or both. I've purchased gift cards there before, but, quite frankly, this policy sucks. I recommend that you obtain your gift cards elsewhere - it's probably best to buy them directly from the outlet they are for. read more

2/28/26:I was informed by the gal who is a cross between Boebert and Nome in the self checkout area that California passed a new law that will only allow 15 item through this area. I was not aware and did some digging, at this point it's only been introduced. When it does become law, them have enough check out lines. read more

I love this Bel Air store in Gold River. My parents shopped in this store from the day it opened its doors, and whenever I came to visit them for holidays, I would also shop there. The deli lady knew my dad by name (may he rest in peace), which melted my heart. Five years ago I moved back to the area from far away, and even though I settled in Citrus Heights, I have been going out of my way to drive over to this store to shop because I always had such good vibes from it. The staff are lovely and the store is well-maintained. Until now. I just went there for my weekly shopping trip, and although it is only mid-October and we haven't even gotten through Halloween yet (never mind Thanksgiving!), there were Christmas decorations set up in the front of the store, such that you have to pass them to get to the produce section. Christmas decorations alongside Halloween decorations! The incongruity literally made me sick to my stomach. It seems impossible to find out the name of the manager of this store, but whoever it is, I blame them, and I urge them to put the Christmas stuff away, preferably until after Thanksgiving. For my part, I have already decided that I will not set foot in the store until December, since I just cannot stomach the crass commercialism of cramming Christmas down our throats before the fall colors have even come. I routinely spend about $250 every time I shop at this Bel Air, but that money is going to Sprouts for the time being - and maybe forever. It breaks my heart, but good god! read more

I love my local Bel Air / Raley's store, everything about it is great, especially the employees, but corporate blew it on the printed receipts. They give you lots of numbers, every number you could imagine, except the price you actually paid for each item. That's literally the only number I expect on a receipt, and it's not there. For example, if you buy wine, it shows the "Regular Price" that I did not pay, another slightly lower price (sale price?) that I did not pay, then it shows a delta (negative dollar amount) for buying 6 or more, and it shows 0.10 CRV and .01 "off". That's 5 numbers for one item, and none of them are the price I paid. What did I pay for that bottle? Well, better get my calculator out, for EVERY line on my receipt. I know this is not a huge issue but it's frustrating, especially since it would be so easy for the tech folks to fix - they have the data they just blew it on the formatting of the receipt. I love shopping at bel air. The Asian food corner is my fave- they carry my favorite food- very crispy, crunchy fried chickens. 7.99 for 8 pieces. I stopped here after Whole Foods just to cater to my tastebud. It want some fried chicken/wings. Not disappointed. Bought some lemon blueberries loaf cakes. I walked in to the store 8:32 walk to the bakery department seeing people back there, I ring the customer service. A lady walked out, grabbed her bag and walked towards me. I asked is anybody available? She said no one is back there with an attitude and start walking away. I ring the bill one more time she turned around and said you don't understand you don't get it. Nobody is back there. I asked for a manager she turned around and keep walking. I approach the customer service ask for a manager she said I am the manager I said ma'am there is a cake I would like to put in the box. It was inside of the glass. She said there is no one back there and I let her know that situation that just took place between me and the employee she seemed OK. That her employee was rude and disrespectful. I asked her to help me to put her in the box. and she was also rude with an attitude and also reminder and this is a manager that I'm speaking to. I asked her to help me to put the cake in the box. I am not asking to bake a cake or put any designs or anything like that just to put it in the box and give it to me. She said no I cannot do it and I don't understand. Why is she in the manager position ? if she is not. Willing to go extra step to help a customer in need now I know why was the employee so rude and disrespectful because the manager was no different. I asked for her name she was hiding the badge. I asked several times she said Tommy Thomas he was the most horrible service. I have the received from a manager on duty. No wonder the store review is 3.5. It was just a simple fruitcake to be put in the box. Nothing more nothing less, but the manager acted like I was asking for her to bake a cake from scratch. She said I am not allowed to to go back there. Like all the other locations - it's a hot mess with so much missing from the shelves, all including toilet paper, meat, bread, the essentials. The low rating is for some of the workers, I know shocking right? There was this gal bagging our groceries that continued to work with a broken rubber glove. It's like, really? Change your glove. The first time I reviewed this Bel Air location was 9 years ago and I literally think it's been 9 years since I set foot back in this store due to its lack of proximity to my house. Well, over the weekend, my family and I were in the area and stopped by Bel Air. Not much changed since 9 years ago when I first reviewed them--man, does their customer service rock! All the employees there are just SO FREAKIN' NICE and genuine. We have a Raley's close to us and it's a far cry from the warmth I feel at this Bel Air! We walked to the deli because I wanted to buy some deli meat and there was an employee behind the counter making a sandwich. When he saw me, he asked if I needed help, and when I told him I wanted some deli meat, he took off the gloves he was wearing to make the sandwich, dropped what he was doing, and immediately helped me, mid-sandwich! I let him know the type of deli meat I wanted and he said he would go check in the back because they were out of it behind the counter. Again, so nice! You would be surprised how many stores I've been to where the employees don't even bother to go and check in the back because they don't want to take the time to do so. After I got the deli meat and we grabbed a few other items from the store, we went in the checkout line and the employee there was also SUPER nice. She started engaging with me, asking me how my day was, how my Thanksgiving went--you know, small pleasantries that seem to have fallen from our generation's manners. She saw my kids and immediately took out a bag with dozens and dozens of stickers and asked them to pick out a few for themselves. It's the small things that speak volumes! Then, a customer walked in and said there was some crazy person outside who was cussing at people. I bring this up to highlight the level of seriousness and care the employees took to this customer's concern. Three employees immediately walked out, trying to track down the person who was swearing at others. I literally love this Bel Air location. Truly, their customer service is out of this world and the employees seem like they really enjoy their jobs. Treat your employees right and they'll be sure to take care of your customers. To the manager at this Bel Air location: you are doing something right because the past two times I walked into this store (9 years apart!) I experienced the same feeling that your employees really care about their customers. Keep it up! read more

This is the only Bel Air that I know of in my area. It provides pretty much the same options you'd find at any other big name chain market. When measuring the worth of a grocery store, I always look at quality, cost, selection and service. Bel Air is good for half those metrics. The quality of what they offer, as well as the selection of brands, is amazing. I've been in here a handful of times and always seem to find what I need. The service can be hit or miss depending on how busy they are. The biggest deterrent are their costs, which are much higher than other markets that offer many of the same staples. It's a good grocery store, but not one I'd go out of the way for. If you live in the neighborhood you've got a solid spot to get your at-home needs. read more

While I live within walking distance of the Gold River Bel Air... I find myself driving further away to find good quality produc Update as of 8/4/2020: I just needed a couple of items for a recipe. I decided to give my neighborhood Bel Air another shot. Well... it came as no surprise that the store was in terrible shape with limited inventory. They were out of the products (canned beans and froze veggies) I needed - so, I asked an employee. She said their inventory has been very low due to COVID". So, I drove to Safeway and was pleasantly surprised to see a fully stocked store. So - now I'm questioning is it just the Gold River Bel Air that's being run into the ground or other Raley's / Bel Airs. Since many other residents of Gold River feel the same way about our Bel Air - I'm going on a mission to visit others stores to figure out if they all look the same with low inventory and terrible produce. Hi-ya! This location is top notch. The employees remember you and are very helpful. The produce is very fresh and the hot bread is delicious! There is antibacterial wipes for the carts, kids get a cookie free and/or a bel air balloon if they want. I can buy specialty items here as well. This store is definitely in my rotation for buying food. I also shop at Safeway, Trader Joe's, Target, and Viva. I love this Bel Air supermarket. Nothing beats the service here! It's always so clean and the employees go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant shopping experience. Price-wise, it really does depend what you're after. If you pay attention to the sales that are going on, you can get items a lot cheaper than elsewhere. Like for me, my favorite cereal is Barbara's Peanut Butter Puffins. Now these boxes of crunchy pseudo-Captain Crunch pillows go for about $4 on average. Sometimes I can get them for $2.50 a box. Score! Parking is easy and the fact that you can always count on some healthy young person to cart your grocery shopping to your car is a plus. read more
