The cook said he most certainly could, and had his own special recipe. Wow. They were not only providing a fairly cheap meal, but also a special drink not even on the menu! Anyway, both plates of hommos were tasty, especially the hommos Beiruty. The ayran, however, was in a class all to itself: it was singularly the best ayran I'd ever had in my life! I finished it, and they came by and filled up another glass (free of charge, no less). I walked out for 16 pounds, and had a bunch of leftovers! We had a groupon deal for a three course set meal and he diligently explained what we got with our deal. A mezze platter and anything we wanted for main & dessert. I mention this detail, because I have often felt like persona non grata when I have used a groupon at a restaurant, receiving substandard food and service and I think this open-armed attitude should be applauded. The mezze platter arrived to a round of oohs and ahhs from the table. It was pretty epic. The lovely owner enthusiastically explained all the dishes: homemade hummus, stuffed vine leaves, chicken wings, warm potato salad, falafel, flat bread and fattoush (a traditional salad of green leaves with soumak and fried bread). Each individual morsel was delightful, but for me the crisp coriander falafel and the zingy lemony fattoush were the stars of the show! The chicken kabob was moist on the inside, dry on the outside. Stand outs for the meal were the feta cheese and spinach spanikopita-like appetizers and baklava-like dessert. It is pricey at £50 which translates to $80. Yikes...
