This year, we finally decided it was time to come and visit the pumpkin patch at Bates Nut Farm,…read moreand let me tell you--we ALL had a blast! We went at around 4pm on a Sunday, and yes--the parking lot was FULL. Surprisingly though, it didn't feel like there was as many people once you get inside since the place was MASSIVE. It honestly felt more like a fair (in the best way possible) than just a pumpkin patch. Also, take note--parking was $10, but admission is free. Not only did they have a plethora of pumpkins and haystacks, but they also had lots of animals, food, bouncy slides, pony rides, and more! Lots of photo opps everywhere you go. My son had so much fun with all the pumpkins, but that's got nothing on the moment he got to see and feed the animals. Core memories, for the win! We also grabbed some food while we were there. The tater tot stand had really delicious bites, and the coffee truck was awesome! I mean, of course I had to have a pumpkin spice latte to celebrate the day. For a free admission pumpkin patch, this is a MUST to go on your list for sure, if it's not already there yet. I think we're absolutely going to have to make this an annual visit for us from now on!

First and foremost, for the love of all animals, please clean your livestock stalls! As a former…read morelivestock owner myself, I know how critical it is to muck and maintain stalls daily. During our recent visit, I was absolutely appalled by the amount of manure in the stall shared by a horse and donkey. This was clearly not just one day's accumulation, and there is simply no excuse for it. To make matters worse, picnic tables are located directly beside these enclosures. Trying to enjoy lunch next to such filthy conditions was disgusting. The animals deserve better. Shame on you! That said, we've been coming to Bates Nut Farm for years, and it truly is a wonderful place for families of all ages. Whether you have little ones who need to burn off energy or seniors who simply want to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors, there's something for everyone. Pack a picnic, enjoy the grounds and animals respectfully, and visit the terrific country store with its gifts and specialty foods. We love Bates Nut Farm, but please do better by your animals. Clean, properly maintained enclosures should be a basic priority, not an afterthought.
