A Disney Private VIP Tour provides backstage access with a knowledgeable tour guide who can get you past the doors marked "Cast Members Only," without getting locked in a dungeon by security. The VIP tour can cost upwards of $450 to $900 an hour (minimum of 7 hours) for up to ten people. Unless you have a magic lamp with a genie, most of us cannot find enough friends or piles of gold coins to cover the cost. However, for the rest of us riff raff, street rats, and scoundrels, Disney provides Enchanting Extras like the Behind the Seeds tour at EPCOT, priced at just $35 per guest, you can get the backstage experience at the parks for a reasonable price.

Very nice tour of you are into plants and growing things. It is a quick 60 to 90 minute tour and you get to see how they try different growing techniques. Our guide was very good and it was easy to see how much he loved his job. He had great stories about what he does and funny things that happen. If you love the Living with the Land ride, you will love this tour. It is a nice Starter tour and won't take a lot of time out of your day.

Can you see the parasitoid wasps?

One of my favorite rides at Epcot is the Living with the Land Ride. When I found out there was a behind the scenes tour of this facility I knew I had to go! BE WARNED...it's very EDUCATIONAL! Some may say nerdy, whatever adjective you choose,if that isn't your thing, then skip this tour and go grab yourself a drink or drinks at Epcot's World Showcase. We learned about the leafminer fly as well as the the parasitoid wasp- how they help and destroy plants. We also saw plants that are grown from tissue culture- very neat! Of course, behind the scenes we got to see the plants, vegetables, flowers up close. The nutrient solutions they used at the Green house, I wish I had my own supply! Then I can grow my plants! We were also able to sample fresh seedless cucumbers from the garden. Yum! Overall, a great tour and very affordable for $20 a person...but you have to have an interest in this, or this may be boring. I also loved finding the hidden Mickeys along the tour as well as learning so much about horticulture! Now I want to start my own garden!!

Since this was the husbeasts break from work, and he likes behind the scenes tour, after we got off the living with the Land ride, he wanted to do the "Behind the Seeds" tour. So that's what we did. When we checked in, we were the only 2 to have done so, but by the time the tour took off, there were 9 of us, including a very dear friend of mine who'll be leaving for VA at the end of the week, Such a nice surprise! Bri, our tour guide was a delight. She's one of the interns at Epcot and she was exceedingly friendly and knowledgable about the current program that Disney has going on. The tour itself takes about 1-1.25 hours, and is very informative, it goes through the Hydroponic and aquaponic growing programs as well as advancements in agriculture. The cost $20 per person, A little less if you're an annual passholder. Oh and there are quite a few hidden mickeys on the tour.

How has no one ever reviewed the Behind the Seeds tour?! This is hands down one of the coolest things at Epcot that you probably don't even know is there. When you ride The Land, you go through a bunch of different greenhouses, seeing all of the plants and fish from your boat. On the Behind the Seeds tour, you get to walk around those very same greenhouses. Your tour guide walks you through, explaining the different techniques used throughout the different spaces. They let you sample some of the produce, and when I went, they gave me a Mickey shaped cucumber (!). Really, they should market those, because I'm sure any kid would be more likely to eat veggies if they looked like Mickey. Also, at the beginning of the tour I was given a vial of ladybugs, and told I could sprinkle them on any plant I liked. Oh, and there is this cool plant that looked like a fern but if you shake it, it closes all of it's leaflets. So cool. Oh, and they let you feed the tilapia. Stand back though, because when the food hits the water, they go crazy. If someone fell in to the tank by accident, there would be nothing left - those little dudes are voracious! My tour guide was awesome, and her name was Eve - so of course, I had to point to her and go "eeeEEEv-A" in my best Wall-E voice. I apologized, because it was so ridiculous that I would do that, and she assured me it happens all the time. Season passholders get a discount on the tour fee. If you love riding The Land, then this is a must! The sign up is located near the entrance for Soarin'.

This tour at EPCOT's the Land was amazing. We loved every minute of it. It was well worth the $18. Going behind the scenes we learned so much about the Land. I would totally recommend this to everyone who likes learning about agriculture or even if you just like looking at rare and exotic plants.

I got my own vial of ladybugs. You are jealous!
Chris W.

We all thought that this was an entertaining and informative tour. You check in for the tour at the desk that is located near the entrance to Soarin. When your designated start time arrives a tour guide will come out and lead you to a back area of the building. One of the first things you will do is learn about insects and how they interact with some of the plants in the exhibits. You're even given your own vial full of ladybugs that are to be released later. You eventually are led to the main area where all of the plant life is grown. It was interesting to learn that a huge portion of the produce that is served at Epcot restaurants is grown directly here at The Land. One of the most interesting plants that they showed us was some type of fern that will actually recoil instantly when you touch it. I had never seen anything like that before. I was completely fascinated with their hydroponic system. It was crazy to see all the vines that were growing overhead and then looking down to see they actually originated from a small pot. You can't get a sense of the scope when you're on the ride that goes through this area because you can't stop and really look at anything like you can on this tour. Some of the plants were producing absolutely enormous vegetables. They definitely have perfected their growing methods here. It was funny seeing the confused looks on peoples faces when they went by us in their boats. We definitely felt like part of the show. When we reached the end of the tour it was time for us to release our ladybugs. I gently released my vial full of cute little bugs that would soon go out and viciously destroy unwanted pests such as aphids. It's important to note that if you want to go on this tour you also have to have your Epcot admission taken care of. It is not included with the price of this tour. As far as Disney goes this tour is very moderately priced. We thought it was well worth the money!

It's first come first serve so just hope it's not too crowded if you decide to go. However they do have tours every hour, so you are likely to get on a tour pretty quickly. Our guide was Keith and he was full of knowledge of the chain of lakes. It kind of felt like I was on the jungle cruise at Disneyland as we were going through the canals with all the trees covering us overhead. I was grateful for the shade because once we got out to the lakes it was pure hot direct sun light on us. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and a fan if you go in August because it gets HOT and HUMID! We were able to see all the fancy homes along the lakes, some of the previous owners of the homes, and learned a bit about Rollins College which was located on the lake front. Apparently their crew teams compete on one of the lakes as well. An absolute fun way to spend an hour!

The tours are on a first come, first serve basis and leave every hour on the hour. One of the canals was closed for construction when we went but it was truly still so lovely. Our tour guide provided so much history and information! Pro-Tip: SUNSCREEN, handheld fans and water. The boats are not covered and it can get very hot. They do not allow umbrellas for cover. This tour has been around for a while and I can't believe this was my first time taking one. I absolutely had the best time. Looking forward to bringing more visitors to do something so very central Florida! It's grand!

We got one during sunset and it lasted long enough for it to get dark during the ride. This was the prime time to go because the alligators were super active. The airboat ride was incredible! This event also had a little tiki bar and delicious food! They had a unique haunt where we got to ride through the Florida wilderness on some sort of huge military vehicle, There was a spooky storyline during the ride and endless scares! They also had other haunted houses you could walk through. There's something about chainsaw carrying scareactors coming at you in the middle of nowhere that scares you more than one you'd come across in a big theme park! The rest of the park had good Halloween music playing and a ton of creepy swamp inspired sets that were perfect for photo ops! I took 99% videos when I was there but only one dumb picture. I regret that. I guess I'll just have to go back. ;)

We were a group of 7 people, and unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. We only saw one alligator swimming in the water during the entire tour. Instead of wildlife, the driver mostly showed us horses and cows from a farm across the resort, which was not what we came for. What made the experience worse was that the driver kept intentionally driving us into thick grass areas several times. He also stopped the boat in an area full of mosquitoes/gnats, and we kept getting bitten until we asked him to move immediately. Unfortunately, he repeated this more than once, which made the ride very uncomfortable. Overall, the experience was not worth the money for us. We would not return and would not recommend it.

The town of Winter Park was plotted when Loring Chase and Oliver Chapman purchased 600 acres in 1881. Life was given to the new town when the railroad was persuaded to extend it's line. The railroad depot built in 1882 was the towns first building. A store was built at Park Ave and Morse Blvd that housed a mercantile, post office, and assembly room. The building still stands. The town was chartered in 1887 and became a retreat for wealthy northerners looking to escape the cold climate in the winter, hence the name of the town Winter Park. The towns economy was built on entertaining winter tourists. Rollins College, the oldest college in Florida was founded here in 1885. The city was incorporated in 1925 and is governed by four city commissioners and a mayor. Today Winter Park is 9 square miles and home to approximately 28,500 residents. The town is known for it's lakes, parks, museums, and shops and restaurants along historic Park Avenue. My favorite restaurant is the Briar Patch. The Winter Park Historic District includes buildings constructed from 1882 through 1965, and it runs along Park Avenue from Canton to Comstock Avenues. Winter Park has held on to its old small town charm. Popular past times here include a boat ride on Lake Osceola, a meal on Park Avenue, and a trip to the Morse Museum. Favorite festivals include the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival and the 4th of July Celebration in Central Park. The Winter Park Historic District is a delightful mixture of the new and the old and just like in the 1800's you can still arrive by train.

Want to spend 3 hours on a guided stroll down Park Ave stopping in restaurants, shops and learning…read moreabout some history? Check this out! Nice for locals and visitors. Having seen a lot of post cards for this event around Park Ave, we decided to give it a try this past weekend. We went with the Saturday tour and unfortunately, we were interrupted with some rain during our tour so we didn't get the full history and stroll that usually is part of it. Bummed but we didn't let it stop us from having a good time. Reid was our guide for the day and also a founder of this Food Tour. He was fun and very lighthearted throughout our experience. I do feel that since there was rain we missed most of what the tour was trying to accomplish, which was to give us a history lesson as well. I do have to say, I didn't learn much but since we were scurrying to each location, I know it was difficult. They do warn you of the rain, I mean, hello! It's Florida! So they recommend bringing an umbrella! Do yourself a favor and do that if there is more than 30% chance! You will be glad you did. For a $47 price tag, check out the stops we headed to and keep in mind, they are the same stops for each tour but they will be adding a new tour of the other end of Park Ave in the next few months. This is a tour of 6 businesses which consist of: Prato Ancient Olive The Spice & Tea Exchange Orchid Thai Cuisine Kilwin's Sassafras Sweet Shoppe Prato I have been various times so I already knew it was going to be a great kick-off to the tour. When you booked, there were an option of Wine or Beer. I went for the wine and a red wine was waiting as we were seated at the table. We tried 2 of their pizzas and had their house bread as well. It was lovely as you really can't have a bad experience in Prato. However, I think this would have been a great opportunity for someone from Prato to chat about their business but Reid did a pretty good rundown. Ancient Olive By far, Ancient Olive took the cake for being the highlight of the tour. WOW! Not only does this shop rock in it's own right, they know how to host a tour of people who love food and want a taste of local. We had someone from Ancient Olive walk us through an Olive Oil & Balsamic tasting, think Wine tasting but with Olive Oil & Balsamic. They also had some tapenade and a goat cheese spread with balsamic and almonds to snack on. They carry a local all-natural beverage mixer as well, Bungalow23 and we had the Prickly Pear. Just when we thought we were already in heaven, another door opened: Ice Cream with Olive Oil and salt... OMGGGGG... I could have stopped the tour here and taken a bath in this. You are not supposed to shop on this tour but it was raining and I spent almost $70 here. Such a great stop. The Spice & Tea Exchange They have so many teas, salts, spices and peppers than you could ever imagine. The best part is they have kick-a recipes to use and we tasted two of them on this stop. Beer cheese dip and an orzo pasta. The pasta was delicious! We also had one of their cold brew teas. Lovely stop. I did feel a little rushed from here on out but that may have been because the rain kept us at the 2nd stop for a long time. Orchid Thai Cuisine I have been here and unfortunately, everything we tasted, chicken satay and their appetizer platter was everything I have had here before. Didn't get much of a new experience here and didn't really learn anything about the business except they have been there for 6 years. Kilwin's My least fav stop on the tour. Not sure why we went with Kilwin's since it's not local. When we arrive, we really didn't learn anything about the business and no one from there interacted with us. We had a taste of the Winter Park Mud, vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips and carmel. It was good but the ice cream wasn't very smooth, it was more crystalized. I am not into fudge so I gave mine away. It was the turtle fudge. Sassafras Sweet Shoppe I adore this store so I was excited to see this on the stop. However, we only spent about 2 minutes in here and grabbed cotton candy and went and ate it under an awning outside and were sent on our way. A very abrupt ending but it was still raining out so I guess we couldn't expect too much. Overall, wasn't blown away but I did it with 2 friends and the others that were on the tour were fun as well. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon even if the stops and content didn't blow me away.

Good food, new friends, perfect weather. What more could you want on a Saturday afternoon?…read more We had a great tour of Winter Park with Kiel. He's very knowledgable about the area and locations where we made stops. We weren't sure if we could or should go to the bar to order drinks or if we could walk around before dinner. It took a while (10+ minutes) for anyone to approach our table.) Once someone approached our table we ordered drinks and then walked around the boat. We went to the top deck to take some photos and watch the sunset before dinner started. Once dinner started we were able to go the buffet as munch as we wished. Since it was Italian night they had all Italian dishes, none of the dishes really stood out but nothing was bad. It was good, but not like wow! While eating they started pouring our wine samples. We got two red and two white samples and a sommelier talked us through each sample. After the first two samples they gave us a break to walk around, go to the bathroom, etc. I would have preferred a shorter break in the middle of dinner and more time in the beginning so that we could spend more time on the deck while the sun set.
