Located on Kent Island overlooking the Chesapeake, this is the perfect getaway. It took us about an hour to drive there from downtown (with no traffic) and was easy to find on a lightly traveled road a few miles from the main highway. The house is massive, but there are only two rooms available for guests. We recommend the Osprey room, which overlooks the bay. In the morning, you wake to a glorious sunrise on the bay. This is soon followed by breakfast carefully prepared by Maria and Ed Peffly, the owners. Each morning we had fresh fruit, and coffee followed by a main breakfast. One morning it was a salmon frittata the next is was blueberry and banana pancakes. The only down side of breakfast was having to muster uncomfortable conversation with the other couple there who were on a romantic getaway. But that is par for the course at a B+B. During the day we walked around in the nearby Terrapin State Park and explored the island. We were there in March, and the usual Kent island riff raff were not to be found. In the evenings we sat under the stars in the hot tub and let the stress slough away. We basically had the run of the house, and although there was one other couple there, we never saw them except at breakfast. The grounds were amazing and at night a herd (15 or so) deer can be seen munching away on the grass. There was a pool, but it wasn't open when we were there. They have a gym and game room that we used once (Who goes to a B&B to use the gym?) What else can I say, for $160 a night (in the off season, you get a wonderful room overlooking the bay, a great breakfast and seclusion from the real world. If I was to conjure criticisms, I would say that the rooms had a bit too much potpourri for our taste and that some of the decor was on the Laura Ashley side, but that is really being picky. This is a real gem. NOTE: I was reluctant to post this review for one simple reason--people will go to and love this place and we'll never be able to book a room again. But we liked the owners so much that we figured that keeping it a secret wouldn't be fair. Let me be frank. By people I mean you loathsome SUV driving butt cracks that make it necessary for rational people to escape DC. Please go to Disney.

Small architectural flourishes lend to the owners strong eye for aesthetic. A giant white tent 50 yards from the ceremony is where your guests will be partying, and a large stone patio with high bar tables around a small pool is where your guests will enjoy their cocktail hour. A separate small building off to the side houses fully plumbed in bathrooms with granite countertops make this luxurious experience continue in all facets and faucets! Hahahahhahaha - I'm such a dork. The perfect location for a wedding in every way. I mean... when this bed and breakfast was built, the intention was for it to also being a wedding venue. You can tell as there are ground anchors permanently placed around the pool and yard. Just a top notch place! Also Britny's Wedding gets 5 stars! :)

We, too, shared our dissatisfaction with the owner, without receiving any remorse. We wanted to share our wedding with our entire family, including children, so we requested chicken nuggets to be included. Chicken nuggets were never provided, and the owner seemed surprised that we wanted chicken nuggets when we asked for the status of them.The food that was served was ok, but our cake appeared almost homemade. None of the staff assisted with cutting our cake either. Our flowers were very underwhelming, despite sending several pictures of exactly what I wanted for the bouquets and center pieces. The bouquets used a plastic holder rather than binding and kept falling apart throughout the evening. The photographer was fantastic, but he never got any of the information we emailed the owner to send to him, including a list of requested photo shots and a list of wedding party/immediate family. The owner also charged us double his normal rates! We are keeping in touch with him and will be using his services again, at his reasonable rates. Our officiant was very magical; we were very pleased with her. We plan to reach out to her for future functions. Rent the venue, it is beautiful. Do not buy a package! You will be a happier bride if you coordinate yourself, or hire an outside coordinator. The owner will promise a free night stay on your anniversary... we've been married a year now and didn't even get an email returned.

I've seen a lot of that work and it is beautiful. We use them for our product advertisement photo shots, people headshots, property architecture, localized commercial stock photos and event coverage. Photographs are supplied in either/or digital or professionally developed. They also offer touch-ups, customization, digital manipulation and creative photographic effects. And, they will travel outside their local area which is so valuable when you need to have a photographer at your event in another city but don't have someone you can trust. During the original quote process, we spoke with Kevin and he talked us through their price options. We appreciated that they charge a la carte, because none of the other photographers' packages seemed to fit us just right. We were able to bring them in for the entire day (12 hours!) and spend our money having them there instead of on 5x7 prints afterwards that we don't really want. Overall, they were very prompt with communicating throughout the whole process and were great with both phone calls and emails. We did an engagement session with John a few months before the wedding during a weekend we were in town. We had never gotten a photo session before. John was so relaxing and totally understood our apprehension, and he took the time to show us how to look more natural. Overall, he spent 4 hours with us at 3 locations, which was way above and beyond. On the wedding day, he showed up on time, ready to work. He stuck to the timeline perfectly without being stressed about it. When we went over a bit getting ready, he let me know off to the side and we worked out a plan to get back on track. He brought along an assistant, which meant we had two photographers all day. My single complaint was that during the formal posed photos, we hit a snafu in that people who weren't supposed to be there showed up. I think it threw Kevin for a loop because he wasn't very able to flex. I tried to sneak in a few photos on his list to make the extras not feel unwelcome, but he didn't really get it and they felt a bit excluded. He got a little upset that I was changing things last minute; however, John was so accommodating and great about it that it ended up being fine and we got the photos we needed. My photos turned out GREAT. They even got them to me promptly- I had all of the photos within ten days of my wedding! I highly recommend them!
