It was about a 35-minute drive from where we were staying, and it was absolutely worth it. When we arrived, the parking lot was quite full, so we assumed we'd be waiting forever. That wasn't the case at all. We placed our order pretty quickly. The pizzas took about 45 minutes, but no one minded because there was plenty to do while we waited. The weather was beautiful, and we found a spot outside. A folksy musician was playing live music, people were enjoying the evening, and kids were running around everywhere - but in a good way. It's just that kind of place. Our grandkids loved feeding the goats and exploring, and there's also a nice little gift shop to visit. To make the evening even more memorable, someone had arrived in a small helicopter and later took off while we were there. Our group was large - 20 people altogether, including 14 adults and six grandchildren under four. We ordered five pizzas, which turned out to be just about the perfect amount. We ordered the Thai, the Supreme, and the Margherita. Additionally, we chose to build our own pepperoni and mushroom, and a plain pepperoni - appealing to the younger crowd. The pizzas were large, thin-crust, cut into squares, and absolutely delicious. Every one was a hit - not a single pizza disappointed. The whole experience was simply fun. The staff behind the registers and everyone else we interacted with were friendly. The old barn and other buildings are unique, and the farm setting and surrounding countryside are beautiful. I'm so glad we decided to make the drive. This isn't just a place to grab a pizza - it's a place to spend an evening and enjoy yourself. I'd go back, and go back, and go back. If you're anywhere near the area, The Stone Barn is must visit.

While exiting the parking lot, we glanced over and saw a parking lot full of cars and a sign stating "Great Harvest Bread Company." It was like a mirage since we were starving and arguing on which greasy joint we were going to end up with. We followed our eyes and noses into the bakery with shelves of freshly baked bread loaves. Everyone gets a free tasting chunk of bread straight from the cutting board. While they don't technically sell lunches (like sandwiches), they do have delicious hot soup combos that come with a slice of bread. My top three bread picks are the Cheddar Garlic, Honey Wheat (all whole wheat bread with a hint of sweet honey), and Apple Crunch. No matter what you choose, you can't go wrong! They also sell fabulously large cinnamon swirls, freshly baked dog treats (obviously much harder than the human bread) and organic granola. If you live nearby, get a stamped card to earn a free loaf after 9 item purchases. Oh and say 'hello' to the fun, knowledgeable and talkative lady who greets and helps you right when you enter the door.

They have lots of different Ellsworth cheese products, along with a bunch of other Wisconsin made items. We were on our way home from Thanksgiving in Minneapolis. The snow was coming down, and we decided to take a break and grab some lunch. Perfect timing to stop in at the creamery and try one of their famous grilled cheese curd sandwiches. It was noon and a few other people had the same idea. The several staff members we interacted with were all friendly and helpful. I got the sandwich and my wife got the Hot Chicken Tortilla soup. Both were very good. The bread was a thicker Texas toast and nicely grilled. The cheese curds had been melted, but you could still make out the curd shapes. There was a small amount of BBQ sauce that gave it a bit of a tangy flavor. I would have liked a bit more of that. Next time, I would like to get there earlier to check out the actual curd and cheese making process.
