We did a lot of reading on the grounds...hammocks, chairs, and benches abound. Details like coffee and tea anytime, filling and fancy breakfasts with choice ingredients, all homemade, and an abundance of flora and fauna to enjoy made it a bespoke, boutique experience. As we sat listening to the early morning birds from our balcony, identifying all the trees we could spot, my husband said, "Worth every penny!" Agreed.

It's not a place to go unless the weather is cooperative. I liked their Chardonnay is aged in oak. It is lightly buttery and it has a nice light finish unlike other Chardonnays that can be heavy. This would make a great table wine. I also really liked their wild flower mead. Its sweet, light, and floral. It's a perfect sipping wine. This wine I want to drink cold sitting by the pool on a hot summer day. They serve appetizers. We had a savory cheese ball that that a praline topping served with gourmet butter crackers. We had to walk past one of the main dining rooms to get to our room upstairs but keep in mind it is a very old and historic inn. We had the Shearer room and it was very clean and welcoming. There is a gas fireplace when you walk in and it was putting out the heat! Then we walked back into the bedroom and the bed was very comfortable. The sheets were soft and bed was nice. There is no TV but there is Wi-Fi. All in all we had a good experience. The breakfast was delicious! I had the pancakes and the bacon which both were excellent.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay, the views of the mountains were gorgeous! We like to get out in nature and the hiking trails nearby were awesome, White Oak Falls probably being my favorite. There were quite a few local wineries that were also a treat. The House was very comfortable, it rents by whole house or by room, and although we only rented a room, we got lucky and had the whole house to ourselves that weekend! The kitchen was nicer then my kitchen and such a pleasure to cook in. :) It was tastefully decorated, our bed super comfortable, we felt right at home. Grilled on the patio one night and enjoyed the sunset. It's nice to have a change of scenery! I plan of staying at the Hood House again, and would happily recommend it to others!

If you're attending a wedding at the nearby Early Mountain Vineyard, this is the perfect place to stay; roomy enough to accommodate an entire wedding party. I purchased two items: a very unique piece of pottery made by an artist from New Hampshire and a pair of earrings. What a deal! Bottom Line?
