For the particular brand of tequila I was in for, however, the store only carried the Blanco (silver) one so no Reposado and/or Anejo. I, however, was able to walk away with its tequila-based coffee liqueur (Cantera Negra Cafe) which I had always wanted to try. The employees (pretty much all of them) were very professional and courteous for my shopping needs. The store is a good size. Very organized where things aren't cramped into the space. Very clean indeed. On Thursday and Saturday, they do tastings (4-7pm on Thursdays and 3-6pm on Saturdays); the designated tasting area is on the north end of the shop. You can park in the Whole Foods garage (there is a door to it inside the shop; this is convenient especially when the weather is bad with rain or show.) I don't come to this part of town very often but it's nice to know that a good liquor store with high-end feel exists right in the heart of Belmar shopping area.

This evening, after a taxing day of parenting and the dismal discovery of legally available alcohol…read morein Colorado grocery stores, I found myself frantically cruising down Wadsworth ISO some wine to take home to my hubby (who emphatically urged me to make a run for it when kiddo was in the bath). JK liquors was a well-lit store that caught my eye with its clearly advertised neon beer logos glowing on an otherwise pitch black street corner. I admit I never feel quite comfortable pulling into a small mom and pop liquor store in what feels like the middle of nowhere. I suspect it is due to too many TV shows where someone gets shot to pieces in such a place. So when I walked in and was met by a friendly woman I was instantly put at ease. She offered to answer any questions I may have as I browsed the small but complete wine selection. As is often the case, the one bottle I intended to purchase became three. One such bottle had a coupon worth $5 off for trying, which was a great teaser to get me to bite. As the same women checked me out she let me know it was a mail-in coupon, then informed me that it had expired. I was expecting to cut my losses, which was no big deal, but she immediately pulled out a business card and told me that she was going to give me $5 credit for the expired manufacturer's coupon. Did my disheveled hair and banana-stained pajamas make her pity me? Regardless, WHO DOES THIS ANYMORE!??! This booze run initially reminded me of small town Kansas circa 1985 after discovering that Denver grocery stores can legally only serve canned piss to customers, but became reminiscent of small town Kansas circa 1985 due to the exceptional customer service I received at JK Liquors. This is the kind of thing that is unheard of in this day and age and has cemented JK Liquors as my first choice for all emergency and non-emergency booze runs in the future.

The owners are willing and eager to educate you fairly about their products. For example, there are wine tastings on Thursdays and Fridays, and they will explain the relative merits of products---not only or primarily the expensive ones, but what might be the best value for you. They also have good sales. In 2011 a local person tipped us off about this store, and we've been going their ever since----bypassing many closer stores. We've never been disappointed.

The owner and the help here are 1000% more helpful than any place I've ever been! Josh help me out today! When it comes to wine, he knows what he's talking about! We bought a half case, which in this case was really only six bottles. Cause that's the way it came. The corks on every bottle was dry. A little too dry for my wife. So every bottle was a pain to open. I took back three bottles to show him what the issue was. He took our three bottles back and gave us a full case. Meaning six new bottles. He also introduced me to a tool which I had no idea about. And I have bartended for 17 years. Including a country club and a wedding facility. He is by far one of the most knowledgeable people I have met when it comes to wine, who is not a sommelier. I'm pretty sure he's probably studying for it! Thank you, Josh! As the old saying goes, happy wife happy life! And let alone the guy who owns the place. Will treat you right every time you come in. And he hires some of the best people. Thank you, Philnor liquor Ron and Jet.

I absolutely hate having to write this review. Pour Boy has been a 5 star liquor store to me for…read moreover 20 years. tl;dr - POS and card reader don't interface right, management sucks and refused to even investigate even though their employee corroborated my story. However, on April 5th, I needed to cancel a transaction because I used the wrong card. The register said the transaction was cancelled, but the credit card system put the charge through anyway. A couple days later, I noticed the charge had gone through, so I went in to talk about it. The employee from the original transaction was there and vouched that I tried to cancel and then did use another card, but the owner/manager that happened to be there at the time didn't believe HIS OWN EMPLOYEE. He said he would "research it" and call me. I told him he could fix it by just allowing me to grab the merchandise that the charge would have covered, but he refused. I checked in after a week or so, saw the same cashier (wonderful lady by the way). She said she saw the paper he wrote my info down on was on the desk, so maybe they were doing something about it. That was apparently wrong. The cashier admitted that there are times the card reader does not cancel transactions correctly, but the owner/manager ignored her. Current management of this place is a bunch of fraudsters now. I'm sad that I have to write a bad review as well as stop supporting a local small business. I gave them many chances though.
