"Holy Hateballs Batman!" Man the hate for this place is real! LOL! I was almost afraid to visit this place without the bat mobile waiting outside in defensive mode! I stopped in to grab a quick case of some Twisted Ice Tea and after reading reviews here I promptly checked the expiration dates on a few of the boxes and they were all well before expiration so I didn't have to worry myself about stale old stuff. My experience was super fast, in and out without incident. I even used my wrist communicator to tell the bat mobile to stand down from defense mode as I made my way to pay. Pricing is a tad more than say a visit to Walmart but for the one box of booze I was getting really wasn't much more than the overall cost of a portion of the gas I would have used. My experience wasn't bad but I guess the jury is still out on this place. read more

Very dusty and dark. It says on Yelp that they have wine too. They have like 10 dusty bottle in the back. Picture when you go to the gas station to get wine; that's your selection except it's probably bin there since they opened. Can you gather that I was looking for wine and not beer? Maybe if I wanted beer, I would have been a happy customer. Yelp or the owner needs to adjust their categorization of this business. read more

I've visited this place in their old location as well as their old one. My brother also visited the place quite a bit over the years, but has stopped going for the same reasons I did (even though it's so damned close). Why? The people who run this place flat out suck. They're not outright rude but they don't know very much about beer, price gouge on a lot of items, and are pretty sketchy. You have to be very careful buying beer here as they do not rotate stock, and thus if you don't check you could buy something that is old and far past it's prime. When it comes to hoppy beers that's a big deal. I've personally seen beers over 2 years old. Their prices aren't marked in many cases, and they seemingly make the price up on the spot when you get to the register. My favorite example is one time when I bought a bottle of Sam Adams Infinium here for a friend of mine for Christmas for $16. After giving it to him, I regretted not grabbing my own bottle. I come back and the same guy from before wants to charge me $32 just because he had only 1 bottle left. That is a complete scumbag move if there ever was one. I went down the road to Chester and grabbed a bottle for $13 without incident. Also every time I've ever come in here, I've had one of them watching me like a hawk the whole time like I was going to steal something. The same thing has happened to my brother and his friends so it's not just me. Why these people feel the need to do this--and run their business this way--is beyond me, as I've never been to another beer store this bad. It's not hard to run a beer store. Craft beer in particular sells itself right now for the most part. These guys are just riding the trend. Go to Chester, Monroe, or best of all Warwick for your beer, all of which somehow also have better selections even though they're much smaller. Or better yet go to Half Time, which takes the "large beer store" concept and does it right. Don't waste your money or time here. read more

Was excited about the selection, but like others said, there is a lot of old stock which means beers WAY past their prime. Didn't realize until I got home, opened up a bottle, and after one sip knew something was off. Checked, and the date on it was over a year and a half ago. read more

This is your typical local beer store. I usually end up going here if I'm looking for something main stream and I don't feel like driving to Half Time in Poughkeepsie. They have a decent craft \ micro brew selection although they quite often don't have what I'm looking for they will always persuade me into something else that looks appetizing. Case in point, yesterday I go in the store looking for Harpoon UFO White (which is relatively new), they don't have the white so instead they talk me into buying the Harpoon Sampler 12 pack (which doesn't include the White), I also picked up some Anchor Steam Hefeweizen and Sam's Blackberry witbier. These are all beers that I have been wanting to try so I guess I can't complain. It probably didn't help that I was already buzzed before going into the store... I equate it to going grocery shopping on an empty stomach! read more

Horrible service. Just purchased a 12 pack there and as i was walked out the door the handle on the package gave way and the 12 pack fell to the ground. Four of the bottles shattered. I walked back in to see if i could get some help and the women behind the counter wouldn't anything for me. I even had to clean up the broken glass myself. I try to support local businesses, but i will not be going back to Beer World. read more

The people who run this place are just plain sketchy. Now I don't know exactly who the owner is, but whoever is in charge for the last 8 years (how long I had been going here) is a clown. I haven't had any altercations or anything overly rude even, just weird stuff. I enjoy Brooklyn Summer Ale in the summer months when it's available everywhere around here. I went into Beer World to buy 6 packs on 4-5 occasions this past summer and paid completely different prices each time with the same cashier. This older women seems very nice, but I had to question this a bit on my 2nd to last visit. I honestly asked, what was the reasoning was for the fluctuation in price? She didn't have an answer for me and danced around the subject while laughing. I am no genius, but I know that she is just guessing a price on a 6 pack of beer with no price on it. I came in a week later and yet again, a different price. I laughed and walked out and decided to never come back. I understand that there could be a slight increase in price as the summer months dwindle down; I can assure you that this was not the case. My girlfriend went to pick me up a 6 pack of Mother's Milk a month ago or so, so she decided to stop here. She comes into my house with a 6 pack of Sam Cold Snap disguised as the beer I desired. Beer World had reused a 6 pack holder of Mother's Milk and repackaged with Cold Snap. Now, I hope I would have noticed this, but I guess I have to advice everyone I know within the county to not buy beer from these people. read more

This beer store is a pleasure to visit. The store is kept immaculately clean and the selection of fine ales is robust. The staff are extremely friendly in assisting you with anything you need and will be happy to order specialty beverages for you if available to them. The layout of the store makes for ease when selecting product, being categorized predominantly by geographics. The store also boasts a growler fill up station with a decent selection and it's nice to see lots of local breweries popping up on tap at beer world. In closing, there are not many beers that Beer World doesn't have handy for you to purchase. read more

Beer World of Goshen is run by a TOTAL A-Hole. I stop in there figuring I'll pick up a nice 6 pack for a frosty night of watching some college B-Ball. Grab a 6 of Hobgoblin, pay my $14, and walk out the sliding glass door and the 6 pack disintegrates in my hands, to the point where all I am left holding is the 6 pack handle. 2 smashed bottles, 4 shooting beer out from under their tops. The owner is standing there on his cell phone and watches the whole thing happen, and comes up to me still on the phone and says.."sorry, there is nothing I can do, we have more in the back". I ask him if he is seriously suggesting I buy another 6 pack and he says "well, you were outside of my store, you weren't in my store". I then proceed to tell him he has to be kidding me, and then we get into it, and it gets loud. I ask him if this is how he treats customers who have spent probably over $1000 easily in his store over the last year, and he says "fine, I give you a new 6 pack, you go pick it up". I go outside the door and pick up the 4 that weren't broken, and he says, "no you pick up all of it". BROKEN F'N GLASS!!!!! He hands me a plastic bag. I said "GIVE ME A F'N DUSTPAN" and he says "NO YOU HAVE A BAG". I said "GIVE ME MY F'N MONEY BACK THEN" and he tells me to call the cops. We go at it for another 5 minutes of expletive laden fury before my daughter comes in because she can see something is up, and then he finally relents and gives me a new 6 pack. NEVER AGAIN WILL I SPEND A DIME IN BEER WORLD. You lost a customer for life a-hole. Hope it was worth the $14. read more

This place is terrible. Although they have a great selection of beer, they are way way over priced and sometimes beer over a year old. You can find the same beer at the distributor in Chester and even the grocery store much much cheaper. The older lady that works the counter is outright rude and not very welcoming for a family business. The younger guy tried selling me the free Budweiser keg cover that the Budweiser reps give to the store to hand out with the kegs. He kept pushing me to buy it for $75. Do not give this store your business - they are rude and way over priced. Drive down the road to the Chester distributor, you won't regret it. read more

Beer World in Goshen has rude & disgraceful immigrants working their. They try to steal your money by shortchanging you. This happened to me on 3 different occasions. The first time I gave them a $20 they gave me change of a $10. Same thing happened to me after a different cashier rang me up. The 3rd time it happened I realized that it's not a mistake & they are all just trying to see if your paying attention- if not they'll steal your $. I don't drink alcohol & I noticed that they do not try to trick me anymore probably because I catch them all the time- they probably are able to trick the customers that may have had a few beers already. These people charge 25 cents for matches when you purchase tobacco products- and they charge 5 cents If you want an extra bag- unheard of! The reason I am really upset is because they charged my Uncle's credit card $20 for $12 worth of beer. When he got home & put his glasses on, saw the mistake he went back to the store- they cursed him out & told him never to come back- AFTER THEY ROBBED HIM! They are disgraceful people- I will make sure all of Goshen is aware of their terrible treatment & hopefully they will be punished for STEALING $ from the hard working blue colored AMERICAN citizens! read more
