Good place to drink cheap beer and listen to the locals talk about the good old days when it was legal to beat your wife. They have ample boat parking which is nice. It's affordable and the bartender was nice. Me and my boyfriend (interracial couple) walked into the bar and literally ALL eyes were on us, like the entire time. the vibe was downright uncomfortable for both of us. This is a unique hidden little whole in the wall bar. It's cash only so beware to bring cash. It's hidden behind a trailer park but don't let that deceive you. It's right on the river, outside seating with live music, it's the perfect spot for a evening drink. The food shack has pretty good food but beer shed itself has none. Very rude owner walked up to me yelling at my service dog and I to get out. I said that he was a service dog and had a visible vest on. I tried to show him the paperwork and he wouldn't even look at me and just kept saying "He's not a service dog bye". Imagine a broken down double wide trailer, that happens to serve beer, has a frier, and the best outdoor seating on the Alafia River. Stumbled on the place looking for somewhere open passed 10:00pm on a week night to have a cold one and watch the Rays game. I'm so glad we did. Don't let the drive through the trailer park fool you. Great local hangout with great food and some of the friendliest people you would ever want to meet. No frills and I do mean no frills. We went on Tuesday night with not much going on which allowed us to be introduced to the bartender and some of the friendly locals. Went back on Wednesday (Karaoke Night). Some of the previous reviews almost kept me from going to the Beer Shed. I am glad I went. November 8th I met with some friends that have been going there for years. Let me explain what this place is and is not. It is not a disco or new fangled club where beer is $8.00 a bottle. It is not a rowdy fighting bar. It is a nice rustic dive. Like an old fishing building along the river. It has a nice bar to sit at and plenty of tables inside. The key to write a proper review for this place is this. The Beer Shed is just that! Beer.. Plenty of different types of beer. No food, no candy, no gimmicks, just a nice place to gather with friends and enjoy stories and beer. The folks I met were friendly. No-one knew me but I made the effort to say hello and I had 8 friends. The bartender was great. Parking is a little tight. There is also access by boat from the Alafia river. Outside was even better. All wood picnic tables under an overhang. Other tables around and all with a fantastic view of the river. It was a relaxing place. Plus the low price of beer was amazing. By the pitcher, by the Bottle or in a small metal bucket with bottles covered with ice. OKAY food. Right next to the Beer Shed is a place for good food. They have a good size menu. I like Gator bites so I was going to order some. BUT I saw venison sliders. I am glad I tried them. They were so good. This little spot on the river is the best kept secret in Tampa Bay. I read another review that complained about the new food and I'm here to say that "Rivers view Thai and More" is the OTHER best kept secret. The Beer Shed and Thai food share a patio that overlooks the Alafia for a wonderful lazy afternoon with a cold beer or wine and great food. Very casual, great prices. This place is a FANTASTIC neighborhood dive bar that is pure fun for those who know how to have fun. I have been here many times, and love it so much I even took my parents and mother-in-law. It's eclectic, down-home, and not for the faint of heart. Located in a trailer park on the Alafia River, the bar has a nice wood plank outdoor deck that gives patrons dock fishing access and cheap buckets of domestic cold long neck beers for a song. Karaoke nights are especially fun, and there is always something (or someone) interesting to see. It's very out of the way, but well-known by locals.
