Went to the beekeeping class during the day then right after went to the store to get a few items and check out some of the items I could get to get started. They had so many items to get started for your beekeeping journey. I also got some other items for my home. I will be going back to get started on my beekeeping journey. At the store, I was able to sample a few different honey and I came home with two different types, as well as honey sticks, candles, books (mentioned in the class) and truffle. The staff were nice and accommodating to all my questions. The place was packed with so many things, but not overwhelming packed where you feel like you can't get around. I didn't get to take many pictures inside, but will definitely going back to buy some more items and take pictures read more

BeeKind is a great stop right off the highway. They offer a huge variety of local honeys, and the clerks are always incredibly helpful. It is a fairly small shop but they likely have everything you need, including beekeeping products. I was recommended to try the creamed honey, and it turned out to be fantastic. A perfect place to pick up unique, high-quality honey and gifts. Great spots nearby to grab lunch on your way out to the coast. read more

Love the honey all the different varieties and you get $.50 back on your empty glass jars, but they are nice for salad dressings or if you do any kind of canning I guess you could use them. I'm making a charcuterie board soon and had honey on my mind, and was pleasantly surprised to see this specialty store when driving through downtown Sebastapol! We quickly made a u-turn and returned to Beekind to take a look. Beekind is a unique store in that it's both for beekeepers and honey/wax lovers. There's a whole section with equipment for maintaining and starting your own hive, including informational booklets and more than I know about. The other half of the store is arranged to showcase wax carvings, beeswax beauty products, local honeys and serving equipment. I was impressed by the selection of honeys, ranging from sage honey to desert honey to coriander honeys, with multiple jar size options for each type of honey too. There's also a little sampling station with all of the honey varieties so you can taste them before purchasing. Overall the store is bright and welcoming. The employee who was working there the morning we dropped in was also kind and knowledgeable (a beekeeper herself). I am in love with Beekind and all of their wonderful products! They're now my go-to store for monthly honey, tea, and soap refills and I get all of my beeswax candles to use at home and gift from them as well. Beeswax candles are the cleanest, low-tox candles that you can light and I use their special occasion candles for birthdays, Hanukkah and Shabbat as well. They have a wonderful and affordable selection of organic loose leaf tea in glass jars and I can return them to be reused and get a discount on my next purchase! We drink a lot of the chamomile rose. I enjoy trying their honeys, teas, and candles of the month because they're 15% off. Such a nice store! The lady who works there greeted us immediately as we walked in. She was very friendly and helpful. We told her that we were looking to buy some local honey and she pointed at the sample bar and told us we can try as many as we want. She also explained all the selections to us. They have a large selection of different honey to choose from, lots of beeswax candles, and bee equipment. I also loved how organized everything was! Our first time to Beekind, to buy some honey as Christmas gifts for friends. We were amazed at the selection of honey that they have - and from all over, local, regional, other states, even from Mexico. Their honey sample bar gives you the chance to taste-test practically every variety of honey that they carry. And then the service, we talked to May and she was so helpful, nice and friendly, and gave us some excellent recommendations. The price for the honey is fair and what you would expect for specialized products. And there's more - they also carry oils, candles, and small trinkets, along with pre-assembled gift baskets. I was happy to find honeycomb for my salad, a block of beeswax for waxing thread and several candles. For a store called BeeKind, I'm shocked at the at the horrible, rude service I just received. I went to the man at the counter and told him that I was here a few days ago and they were out of an item I needed. He said "ok". I said "I'm wondering if it's in stock now?" Writing on his clipboard and only half listening he said "Yes" and I said "And I need to buy another box". And he responded "ok, let me know if you need any help" and I said "I do need help. I'm new to this. I don't know what this item looks like. And I'm not sure which type to buy." And he said "they're by the wall" and I said "look, I really need some assistance" and he said "Do you need eye contact or what would you like?" I said "I would like you to show me what type of box I need". He quickly walked over to the wall and said "these are your options" and walked back to the counter. I have never experienced such rude customer service. I drove an hour from Sonoma to shop here. I was patient and friendly. From the start he was unhelpful and unapologetic. If you are busy, apologize and let me know you need a few minutes to finish what you're doing before you can assist me. But do not say "let me know if you need any help" and not help me in the slightest. I'm still laughing because I'm shocked a small town store would have such a rude employee. read more

I'm still in shock at the treatment I received during my first and last visit to this business. Let me preface this by saying mask mandates are lifted in California. Having said that, I fully support a businesses right to require masking. It's their store, and I have no issue putting a mask on. However, there is certainly a way to go about enforcing this, and the way I was treated yesterday was absolutely uncalled for. I walk in to what appears to be an empty store with my 7 year old son. I make it about five steps and hear a loud, "woah, woah, woah! You can't be in here without a mask!" A man in his 30s appears within my line of vision. I immediately begin going into my purse to retrieve my mask. He continues to shout, "You need to step outside and put your mask on!" I'm a bit bewildered as to why I'm being shouted at so much. I point to my son and say, "he doesn't have a mask." The man is holding a cup of masks and responds aggressively, "I will give you a mask, go outside!" I walk outside and watch the glass door shut between us as I complete putting my mask on and he slowly opens the door to hand a mask through the crack in the door. I realize at this point there is no way I can go back into this store and feel comfortable freely walking around, asking questions and ultimately make a purchase after I was just treated like I have the literal plague. I work at a hospital which requires masking, and we would NEVER treat someone in this manner. This is clearly a "him" issue, but unacceptable nonetheless. Two years intro the pandemic and this was my first insane mask encounter. I would NEVER recommend going to this business. This person has NO people skills and should not be working in the front. This incident was beyond insulting and upsetting. I highly recommend removing this incredibly aggressive man from representing your store "Beekind." read more

You his review is based on my experience with Beekind as a supplier of beekeeping supplies, not their retail side. I am flabbergasted at how cagey and unhelpful the young man who answered the phone was when asked about the pros and cons of ordering Beekind's own bees versus Italians. He refused to say anything substantive about the local bees in terms of their composition, their demeanor, their production, or anything else about how they may differ or be advantageous with regard to Italian bees. I was not looking for guarantees or promises, just anything that could be helpful in choosing from their options. This is supposed to be a helpful resource for locals aspiring to beginning beekeeping. Luckily I have some experience with it from prior years. But I can't understand why this man was unable to provide any guidance other than "look online, but don't believe everything you read" (he literally said that). Why make your customers guess when choosing what kind of bee to order? There is a huge difference between guaranteeing a certain type of behavior and providing useful guidance and information for your customer. I have never experienced anything quite like this conversation when seeking help. It was so bad that rather than ordering my $700 setup with them, I will order online and take my business elsewhere. read more

I was on a work trip and was in the Sebastopol area. Thought I would walk in and pick up some gifts for the family. I bought a bar of soap that helps with eczema and fell in love! Horriby rude and non existent customer service. The 30ish guy behind the counter treated us like we had the plague. We complied with all of their guidelines with regard to cleaning hands and not touching items., yet he was still rude to us. When I told him he was rude & informed him that I would not be purchasing anything from him even though I had over $100.00 worth of items at the cash register, he replied that he treats all of his customers that way!! This review is strictly for my experience on the retail side of things and not for any of their beekeeping supplies or classes. Visiting Sebastopol on a Saturday afternoon in July led me to Beekind before my long drive home. I came here specifically to check out their supply of honey and bee's wax candles. Their prices for organic and local honey are extremely reasonable and the honey is some of the best I've tasted. I ended up getting a jar of their lavender honey which goes well on toast or in smoothies. It's my favorite honey ever and the jar is quickly disappearing. Their candles were interesting to look at and also reasonably priced. My boyfriend, who could care less about candles, found himself interested in their selection and admitted they were "very cool." It's definitely worth a stop for honey and other bee related sundries. Easy parking, service was okay, if not overly warm. Definitely a cool little spot. The Yelp 100 Challenge! read more

I never write reviews however this experience made me want to write one. Whoever was working as cashier was extremely rude. Some man in his 30s. I asked a question and I got ridiculed. Another customer walked in and he ridiculed her as well. My husband took his mask down for a second to reassure my 7 month old she was okay and the rude cashier screamed at him even though the mask mandate has been lifted for certain individuals. There's a way to ask someone nicely. My other daughter had to exit the store because she was so anxious and felt very unwelcome. I like to shop local rather than Amazon. I drove 40 miles to shop here. This was probably my fifth visit and my worst experience. The salesperson a man in his 30s and was so rude. I just spent $357 there he would not answer any questions except with a sarcastic answer that was no help at all. Did not offer to carry any of the bee setups out the store for us. We are looking to stablish a bee colony in our property and went to this store as we live in town, as we walked in we asked information to a man in the staff, who after informing us they had sold all of their bees proceeded​ to ignore us in a very rude way while he talked behind the counter with a woman also from the staff. We had to interrupt their important conversation to try to get answers to our questions about what equipment we needed to buy, so they just handed us a brochure and proceeded to continue their conversation, ignoring us customers.... Even though there's free Wi-Fi there's no place to sit down and take advantage of it. It's just a stop and go store. There is a wide range of honey and a taste testing area so that you can try out the flavors before you buy. The Northwest Raspberry hit the spot for me.
