If you're going to the doctor's in Ireland, you had better be at death's door. Because otherwise you won't have any money left to get yourself a prescription. Of course, this is no fault of the doctors themselves (at least not individually), but at something like €70 to just walk into the office, be sure that you're genuinely ill.
That being said, Beechlawn is quite a nice place. Moved from Eton Square to a purpose-built location on the Carrickbrennan Road, it's bright and fresh and airy...the polar opposite of what you feel going in there usually. The staff are pleasant and proper local physicians (they will always ask after your family, school, hobbies etc), and they're good at squeezing you in if you need an appointment asap. But if you can get away with just going to the pharmacist, it's a whole lot easier on the pocket! read more
