Every time we head up to the lake house in LBJ we make a point to come here on Sunday. We load a cooler to take back home with us! Our main stops are: 1. Capital City Ceviche - they make Hawaiian poke just like back home in Hawaii. Since moving to Texas, that was something we haven't been able to find that is good. But here.....OMG the best! 2. JW Seafood - specifically when in season, the fresh oysters are amazing! 3. Prairie's Prairies- they have quality French pastries and baked goods. We love their scones, croissants, and their puffs....oh yum! 4. Goodie Dumplings- They make them fresh on site or have frozen to take home. They have everything from veggie, chicken, beef, pork, and seafood! This are so good. It is usually a snack while we walk around and then we take some to go to add to our ramen at home. They add a lot of vendors throughout the year which is fun! They have craft items as well which we have even bought a few items from those booths as well. Next time you're in Spicewood on a Sunday, be sure to stop in! :)

This was the largest farmers market I have visited in the Austin metroplex specifically in Cedar Park, TX. The vendors were so numerous that you could scan the layout via QR code at the market's entrance. The Texas Farmer's Market had everything you could imagine including composting, regeneration (learned something new), bread, bakeries, meats, just to name a few. Quite honestly, I was overwhelmed initially. Then I paced myself. The market had regenerative eggs. I asked, "how do you get regenerative eggs?" Apparently, you regenerate the chickens by allowing them to roam more loosely and changing their location approximately every 3 days...fascinating stuff! Like any farmers market there were a ton of samples. Surprisingly, there were very few fruits and vegetables. When we lived in Bellevue, WA virtually all the farmers market had mostly organic fruits and vegetables. Service by the various vendors were rather friendly. Next time, I need to allocate more time for exploring. Huge farmer's market...

We were just coming through on our way to a funeral in Kingsland so we passed it on the way and made a point of being sure we came back that way so we could stop! I can't wait to taste my purchases. It was quite evident that about two out of every three customers were repeat as they knew Keith and he knew them by name! I bought stonewall peaches, a nice basket of freshly picked green beans, fresh ears of corn, and beautiful slicing tomatoes (Oh yes, great tomato sandwiches with either mayo or miracle whip coming right up!) I also got one of the Mason County sweet cantaloupes. The watermelon looked awesome but not sure who I could share it with so did not get it this time. Hoping they are still in season when we return! Keith Lee Mills is the owner operator and evidently quite often on site helping customers with their purchases. My gosh he even helped me to the car with mine! Love, love, love this fabulous Farmers Market! We've been regulars for 3 years now…read more Since this is the TX Hill Country, it's easier to grow meat than veggies. ;) But, some wonderful veggie growers come in from the surrounding areas where the soil is naturally deeper. Usually there are 2-6 veggie vendors, depending on the season (more veggies available in the spring, early summer, and mid to late fall, and not so much in the heat of summer, which is with the local seasons). There are probably 4-8 meat vendors each week; they are usually more predictable as the weather doesn't affect their products as much: everything from beef, chicken, lamb, seafood, bison, and sometimes pork. Also eggs and milk. All sorts of specialty food and other vendors cycle through, probably 5-15 vendors per week, from bakeries, to dried fruit, from honey, soaps, jewelry, ginger root beer, ethnic foods, to the Hays County Master Gardeners, the Wild Bird Store, and more. We love the wonderful family friendly ambience with musicians serenading us while we shop, kind and patient fellow customers, and knowledgable vendors. I learn something new every time I come. One of the highlights of our week! Check it out. As noted, because of the TX heat and rain, occasionally the location will be changed to Ranch Park with inclement weather, while during the heat of the summer, the market always shifts to it's summer schedule of 9-12. Brilliant if you ask me. No one wants to shop in the afternoon of the dead of summer! The rest of the year the market is in the afternoon, from 3-6pm.

Also, produce is seasonal, so it's not the market's fault if some types of produce aren't available in the months when it doesn't grow. I love being able to support local farmers and businesses. I do wish they'd move it back to Founders Park, but it's understandable that it may not be possible.

I'm disappointed to be writing this, but I had an upsetting experience at the farmers market last…read moreSunday. Farmers markets are supposed to be welcoming, family-friendly spaces where local vendors, farmers, nonprofits, faith groups, and community members can come together safely and respectfully. Unfortunately, I witnessed something that made the environment feel anything but welcoming. There was a small religious group with a table at the market, and as someone passed by, they shouted offensive racial and religious slurs at the men working the table. It was completely uncalled for. Rather than engaging in any kind of respectful conversation, this person chose to be hateful and intimidating in a public community space. I understand that the organizers may not be able to identify or remove every person who behaves this way, but I do think the market should be more proactive about making its expectations clear. A farmers market should feel safe for everyone, including vendors and community organizations that may be more likely to face harassment. Clear signage, public reminders, or stronger policies against hate speech and intolerance would go a long way. I hope the organizers take this seriously and make it clear that racism, religious intolerance, and harassment are not acceptable at this market. The community deserves a space that truly feels supportive, inclusive, and safe for all.
