Coney Art Walls are such a cool thing among all the craziness. It gets overlooked. The food and…read morerides attract people. Best thing about these are they're free. You can also find some food trucks. Along Stillwell you'll find these right beside Nathan's Famous. It mostly is around the main gates. The walls seem to be painted by local artists, with many panels having some kind of Coney Island theme. Not all of them do. On some are wacky depictions of famous cartoon characters, or another pop culture reference. The panels are very creative and you can spend awhile looking at these Currently there's more than 30 panels. The panels are attached to fencing so it's not really like a wall. It thankfully does not cost anything. Luna Park admission is not required to get to it. This can be visited any time of the year.

Home of Pratt Institute whose founder built brownstone mansions for his family members, and adjacent to Bed Sty, Williamsburg and Fort Greene. Steinway Studios on Washington and Flushing where Spike Lee's Inside Man was filmed. Now with restaurants, cafes and hipsters gallore.

Like most of the stories being told the people are fed up of being "pushed" out. Gentrification. My friend who has lived here for many years says "pretty soon ima have to leave". He's genuinely concerned. He's not a typical worrier. I enjoy walking the streets during all seasons, summer-time peering into restaurants/bistros/cafes coming up with stories of their occupants. I have been known to sit on benches outside these establishments for hours just observing and writing stories......in my head. What is it with the bodegas and their cats? The street runs from Chatham Square at Park Row, Worth Street, and Mott Street in the south to Cooper Square at 4th Street in the North. The historic 1.5 mile Bowery is the oldest thoroughfare on Manhattan Island. Long before Broadway became Manhattan's Famous gathering place. Also known as Skid Row I'm very familiar with the neighborhood due to my years working in Human Services. My job took me there many days. When I was growing up my Mother told me stories of visiting the city as a young girl. Once she was very frightened when she came to the city and it became a rainy day. She was lost at night in the Bowery trying to find the train to return home. She and my father warned me that people there would kill you for a quarter. I never forgot these things. I don't go alone at night. Even on a Sunny day I remain vigilant. That's really a given anywhere you go in any city in this current age in America. My Opinion. Right now I'm looking forward to returning. Weather permitting I won't have to wait long. My days in this lifetime are precious. I'm having trouble being everywhere and seeing everything my city has to offer. For now here's a few photos I've taken in Bowery Neighborhood. Don't be any more afraid to visit The Bowery than you would Times Square. There's a lot to do and see in and around this neighborhood.

They host murals that are painted on a seasonal basis. Every time I go to SoHo I am taking in by the incredible Art Walls, which are capturing the curiosity and imagination of passersby.  4 times a year a different artist is selected to paint a mural on the side building wall on Lafayette Street which is about 50 feet high and 50 feet wide. And the murals presented are not necessarily having to be on a Gucci fashion product but on an associated or current teme for the times. So if you are shopping SoHo or just walking by check out the Gucci Art Wall it is viewable from several blocks and then post your photo.

It is quite easy to spot due to its size and was an awesome installation to see in person. It was designed to celebrate the area's (Garment District) fashion history. Overall not a ton to say about it though, if you are a fan of fashion then go and see it! Otherwise maybe find a route that passes by and admire it while snapping a photo then continue on your way.

Walking down 7th avenue in Manhattan's fashion district, you might be surprised to see a massive…read morebutton and needle leaning against the Fashion District Information Center. At one time this was known to be the Garment District, but the change the name after over 90% of the manufacturer of clothing left. While the sculpture was designed in the style of works by Claes Oldenburg, it was designed and built along with the information center by Pentagram Architectural Services. Just next to the information booth, a statue of a garment worker toils in the shadow of the huge needle and button. This weathered-looking bronze statue is a work by Judith Weller. It depicts her father, one of a great many Jewish immigrants who moved to New York and wound up working in the garment district. BTW: The stainless steel needle is 31-feet long with a 2-foot eye threaded threw a 14-foot button.

Long Island City used to be a beautiful wasteland. Then the buildings started to come. The first…read moretall building came in 89. Then the city lights came. Then eventually the area just became more crowded with tons of people. Back then the mom and pop shops were amazing. Its sad there are a few left. There's a lot of activities to do in the area now. Acardes, bars, tea shops, bowling, museums and other things. Its a great area if you have a dog because there's spots for them to poop all over the place. There's also tons of restaurants in the area, there's even a food hall. If you feel like living in a tiny apartment that cost over 3k then come live here. If you like noise then come live here. It used to be a wonderful spot where people minded their business, now everyone is in your business. Don't forget to pick up your dog poop or else someone will get you on camera. Be simple get a cat so that strangers don't have to randomly touch your dog without asking. Cats are better anyway. All jokes aside the parks by the water are really beautiful. Its a wonderful place to have a great picnic. Go check out the pepsi cola sign its an Instagram worthy spot. This area had the original 5 pointz building that was beautiful art all over the building but was torn down for a stupid building. Check out court square diner while your here open 24 hours! Culture lab is a must if you come to LIC! I appreciate all the flowers that are painted in the area.

As we had family who grew up on the Lower East Side our roots are established here much deeper than…read moremost. With ties to the old world Ukrainian and Polish parts of this area we still love walking these streets and visiting the buildings our family members grew up in long ago. The area has changed a lot over the years. St Marks Place is a shell of the anti-establishment hippie punk scene it used to be now with all the karaoke, chain shops, and Asian eateries populating the area. Yet you can still envision it's punk soul when walking the street, Katz Deli is an iconic place to drop some cash on a pastrami sandwich and cream soda. Veselka is a must stop to eat pierogies, kielbasa, eggs, coffee and Ukrainian standards. Veniero's is a terrific old world spot to enjoy pastries since 1894. So many others, too many to mention. There are so many places to eat, drink, and feast here. Cool murals, art, and graffiti can also be found on the sides of buildings.

St. Mark's Place is still the ultimate heart of it all, packed with an amazing mix of quirky shops, incredible restaurants, and street vendors selling everything from vintage clothes to unique art.
