As a graffiti hunter, Bushwick would be considered a big 'X' on the map. It's a neighborhood that has been commissioned to be dedicated to graffiti murals. I have bene visiting Bushwich for years and it's been great to watch the change that this neighborhood has taken. Years ago I would hop out of the car, take photos and move on. Now you can grad a coffee, hit a beer garden, visit a local thrift shop and enjoy the murals. This last visit, we were there for the Bushwick Annual Block Party. It was the 14th annual. The block party needs some work. It's advertised as starting at 10am. If you arrive at 10am you will not have enough to kee you occupied as there was one block lined with food vendors and another block lined with local vendors. I was hoping we would see Bushwick supports more local artists as opposed to people selling beaded bracelets and such. Not one person was selling photography, spray painted canvases or hand drawn art. The real party starts at 2pm when the music on the stage starts happening and even more so at 4 when more well known artists drop their lyrics on stage. The stage is on the corner of a street so there are 2 great views (and artists do turn and face the side crowd a lot.) Another improvement needed, no public restrooms provided for such a huge event. Bring in some porta potties. Keep in mind, it's super cool this is a free event but I wouldnt mind contributing some money to get some bathrooms in! Now the real reason to visit? RaKim performed. Tony Touch. Destroy. Smif and Wesson. BunB. Etc... AMAZING SHOW! For $0! Thank you all the people that make this possible. (But please keep in mind this block party could be even better with a few small enhancements.)

A Living breathing ever evolving graffiti/street art/ public arts display that culminates with an annual block party on the streets of Bushwick... centered around troutman and wycoff. Here you can find works from artists from across the world as well as many locals from NY. This year I had the pleasure of attending the 13th annual block party and it was amazing! Featuring acts like static selector, Tony touch, raekwon, fatman scoob, and many more. Also lots of food , crafts, and clothing vendors... and the best part was that it was free to the public! Had an amazing time. The owners mission is to pour back into the community, and he's doing an amazing job of it!

An array of Street Art by obviously "talented" Artists! The Collective is spread out on several blocks, but the main Collection is on Troutman and St. Nicholas, which is not open to vehicular traffic, so plan on parking and walking. A drive by will not work for that block..(part of the reason I need to return) I did drive by photography for several reasons.. Nostalgia hit as I drove thru the now "gentrified" Bushwick. As a youth, Bushwick was one of my stomping grounds. Back then, Street Art was sadly looked down upon by some..! Oh how times have changed!!!! Bushwick definitely has a bit of a face lift, with all the newly erected restaurants, Coffee Shops, Hipsters and boutiques scattered about...but its still recognizable thankfully, and its grit remains...alot of the old apt buildings are still standing, and I was able to spot a bodega or 2 delightfully lol. I'll def be back to finish viewing the Art..!

Graffiti is an element of Hip Hop culture that was once criminalized. Just like rap, it has now found its way intog American culture. You can find it on walls, billborads and even TV. It is everywhere. Well if you want a space where you don't have to look far, this is it. This is an outdoor space that house many examples of wall art. A bonus is the yearly Black Party put on by Joe!

This street art is amazing! It's incredible that there are so many artists out there of this magnitude that are doing this type of art but look at the great photos of this art and I'm sure you'll agree that they are a very talented group of people in the Bushwick Street Art Collective in Brooklyn! Brooklyn has come a long way over the past 20 years from when I was a young child driving through with my parents.

I love street arts. I finally made it to visit Bushwick collective today . Salute to all artists whose talents are very impressive. I wish I could do what they can do. These well known collections of street arts , murals, paintings or graffitis are quite a beautiful things to see. Wandering along the neighbor is worthy of my time. In such a short visit, I felt like I have been there for hours longer than I have spent. There are few bars, breweries, coffee shops, restaurants , shops and shows in the area . It has been considered now a safe place to visit. I have heard that they are changing partly of the arts display annually during their summer block party. I could imagine how crowded the event be. We have no trouble looking for street parking during our visit. We were even close to the main location. Definitely worth checking out!

Visiting street murals is one of my favorite things to do when traveling. After hopping out of the L train station here I could already see some artwork on walls. I do believe that mural art pieces are replaced by new ones every so often (based on seeing photos from other reviewers the murals right next to the Biggie one in particular keep constantly changing). I went on a Saturday afternoon and there was hardly anyone in the area, making this experience a pretty low-key stroll. Despite what the photos here show though, there is a bunch of typical graffiti on the walls as well and the extravagant murals quickly become few and far between the farther you walk away from the subway station making it some sort of a scavenger hunt. Didn't want to get too lost (the murals are all around in the area and not on one street) so I just went up and down Troutman St. for a little bit. If you have some time to kill and want to see art for free definitely check this place out.

I feel like I need to know more. Before I get in to the particulars of the pieces (which are awesome), the current... acceptance (not the right word) of street art is a weird thing for me to wrap my head around. For so long, 'street art' had different names, a very specific connotation and association that split down racial/ethnic lines. Now, it's hot. People (purveyors or adopters?) give tours extolling the genius of that which was 'scary' just a little while ago. And, we can't overlook the setting. For all the gentrification and 'Girls'ification of the borough, when I think 'Brooklyn,' I think 'The Cosby Show,' 'Do The Right Thing,' 'Crooklyn,' and 'Living Single.' This type of art isn't something new or to be fetishized. Hell, if my memory doesn't betray me, a 'The Cosby Show' open (as well as those other shows I mentioned) was entirely about 'street art.' The Cosby Show. So. With all that said, the Collective is worth your while. I don't know that it's worth a 'tour' per se. For me, it's just NYC. It's Brooklyn. It's a reminder of the city I first experienced so many years ago and remember so fondly. Had I known that 'street art' would go from demonization to commodification, I would have paid more attention to particulars back in the day. But then - as now - art that catches your eye is art that catches your eye. Now there are just likes to be had and 'authenticity' to present. Forget all that. If you're in the area and have some time to kill (and, space on your phone), walk around and take some photos. Look up the various artists and see if they have other work to explore/appreciate. This review is about the art. It *should* be about the art. So, I'll leave the extras where they lay. I guess I'm happy that more people are getting the chance to check this* out... but there are plenty of people that - for plenty of years - have lived, walked, watched, and appreciated 'street art' just fine. You know? For that segment of the population, what is this? Thursday? However, a commissioned collection *is* a nice thing to witness. I can't dispute that. This. *The collective use of the word.

Did I mention New York never gets old? I can never get bored, so much to see and eat! So if you're into the arts, here is a free exhibit. The Bushwick street art are done by local artist who ask permission from business who can express themselves on thier walls. From graffiti pieces and painting all from scratch. There are several blocks of street art and replaced every few months with new exhibits. Definitely a must to visit.

The Bushwick Collective is an outdoor street art gallery that spans several blocks down Troutman St, St Nicholas Ave, and the surrounding area. It's accessible by the L train (Jefferson St) or by car. I came on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of parking available. I noticed there were a lot of walking tours around the area, and I would recommend it if you are interested in learning more about the artists behind these works. Tour or no tour, these murals along the walls of factories, garages and shops can be appreciated by all. PS- Finish off the day with a visit to Brooklyn Beer Garden for drinks and more art!

Amazing, amazing place. This place was set up by a man called Joseph Ficalora, who owns some of the buildings in the blocks and he personally curated this humongous outdoor art. Came here as a part of Bushwick street art walking tour. Learnt many things about graffiti, local artists like Cornbread, Ned, Phlegm(London), lexibella, shiro among others, their signature styles, what kind of social and political activism they are doing. The tour was very informative, the art is mind-blowing and it's amazing that you can see all this beauty for free. Would love to return in fashionable clothes like the fancy instagrammers flocking the place. Highly recommend going here. Read up a bit about local graffiti, the Brooklyn and Bushwick areas' wiki pages for better experience.

Bushwick is the new WIlliamsburg in Brooklyn. In this area you will find a beautiful strip of streets with some wicked art work. The details are very well done and the work is truly professional. You can walk down a few streets and just check out walls and walls of art. However, watch where you're walking because you could miss some art work on the actual sidewalks on certain streets. There are a few restaurants in the area to grab some food/drinks after your mini tour of urban art.

"street art" is legit one of my favorite things. On any given day I can be found wandering this city seeking out the latest & greatest from artists like jerkface or toofly or sacsix. So imagine my excitement when I learned that there's a whole neighborhood* with murals, murals and more murals. Our afternoon in Bushwick started at Troutman and Wyckoff and as we looped the neighborhood the artwork just got better and better. Murals of all colors, so many different designs and all at various scales. There's just so much good stuff throughout the neighborhood. Can't wait to see what's to come in the future... *there's actually two you should check out... Ask the Community - Bushwick Collective

    Any parking nearby?

I am usually able to find street parking with no issue. I am not certain how close a parking garage is.

Is it all in 1 location or is it everywhere?

Most of the urban art/wall murals are within an eight block area. Some are on side streets and make for an exciting discovery especially when you find an artist working on a new art piece.

Do I need ticket to go this event? If I do, can I buy at the entrance?

nope. In the past there was never an admission requirement. I will be there in an hour. :)
