I stopped by the store to look at lights for my family's new home in Mt. Kisco. I wanted to support a local business. I was greeted when I entered but then the 2 people working in the store started to openly bicker with each other about something. It was uncomfortable. When I asked for dimensions on a specific piece, the woman gave me the dimensions but told me she couldn't really help me with anything else unless I was one of her clients and suggested I come back with my interior designer. She also asked what neighborhood I'd moved to. Again, it was uncomfortable. Finally, when I stated asking about how many kelvins a specific light-bulb produced she told me to "Google it". As if it's not her responsibility to know that info as someone that works in a store that specifically sells lights. If she didn't know off of the top of her head and needed to look it up, I'd completely understand, but to tell me to Google it (in the tone that she was speaking to me in) is unacceptable. That was enough for me. I thanked her her suggestion and I left. I told a friend about my visit and she said that she also had a negative experience when visiting the store while she was remodeling her home a few years ago. So many people seem to have good things to say about this store. I'm not sure why my experience was so different but I certainly won't be back or advise anyone to go there. read more

Horrible service ,unprofessional staff, bad customer service, no follow up Overall a bad experience Simple lamp socket repair gone wrong we took the lamp into Bedford Lighting just to have the socket repaired . When we picket it up the base of the lamp was broken. It was not broken when it was dropped off . We were then falsely accused of breaking the base of our lamp. First things first, if you live in the Bedford, NY area and need lighting, there are other stores nearby. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!! "Rinky Dink" establishment that is lucky that they are still in business. Buyer beware!!! There are plenty of other stores with 25x the selection of this place. Salesman was quick to try to to judge the book by its cover! What a rookie mistake!! You never judge the customer by the way he is dressed. Salesman was totally rude and wouldn't give me the time of day. Little did he know I was looking to buy 4 Visual Comforft chandeliers @$3500 each for my builds!! Went to a much larger store in Bergen county and received a huge discount!! Stay away from these clowns!!! One more thing.......they are still "enforcing" their own mask mandate!!! LMAO. Yelp makes you give at least one star, but they deserve NONE! read more

I am a first time customer. I have to admit I didn't see the sign on the top of the wall and even though it was on the receipt by then it is too late. This is a store that only gives store credit on your refund. As if this is not enough, for them to keep your money, the store credit has an expiration date of one year. Agree with previous posters that mention rude staff. First time we went, Chris (owner) was helpful. Suggested the lighting we needed as we were not sure what lighting needed to replace ceiling fixtures in two bathrooms. Felt good that we bought from a local business vs Amazon. One light turned out to be wrong and went to take the fixture back. Older gentleman at desk (assume Chris's husband) who was very rude - 3X pointed to the sign that said no refunds or exchanges which was not mentioned when we purchased (most stores mention return policy at purchase if there returns are not allowed) Twice he picked up the lighting box, dropped in on the counter and told me he had to throw the light away as the manufacturer would not take it back. After the second time, I said "YES but you will sell it to another customer at some point" and he said but I don't know when that will be. I told him that small businesses need to compete on service (I can return almost anything to amazon no questions asked!) -- he begrudginly gave me a credit. Asked if it expired (why would it if it is a credit??) and he said one year... really? I could deal with the fact that his return policy was not customer friendly and was not disclosed at purchase (a small framed sign wayyyyy Above the counter to the far right with their policy) but the rudeness was uncalled for. he could have been a smart salesperson and suggested that we use the credit for bulbs, dimmers or some other items. If small businesses wants to compete with Amazon, Build.com, etc they NEED TO CATER TO THE CUSTOMER!!! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! read more

I have had many lamps repaired during Covid (time to sort out) and was delighted with the fast and professional work. One floor lamp had a high price estimate for repair, but I was assured that I would not be charged if the job ended up being quicker/easier. Imagine my delight when I was told that the job would cost $70 less when I picked up my beautifully repaired lamp! It's really wonderful that a service like this exists. No need to buy a new lamp -- just get repaired! That being said, I was happy to buy a new lamp that I had wanted with some of the money I saved on repairs! We purchased a new fixture for our kitchen at Bedford Lighting. It was a Justice Design Group fixture, which arrived in good order, or at least we thought so. But after our electrician installed it, we realized that the porcelain pieces had flaws baked into them and that one of the three pendants was a darker porcelain color than the other two. Bedford Lighting totally went to bat for us and was able to secure three replacements free of charge. And they came and reinstalled the fixture gratis. We enjoyed doing business with Chris and Drew, and would recommend Bedford Lighting. Only wish we had more renovations to do, so that we could work with them again. :-) read more

Despite everyone telling me to just buy online I stuck to shopping local this time around. And I was very happy to have done so at Bedford Lighting. Chris and Drew were both very helpful with my multiple visits and very responsive via email in our back and forth exchanges. Who knew choosing lighting was so complicated! The icing on the cake was when the last of my order arrived and I missed getting to the shop before they closed for 3 days. I emailed them letting them know that I wouldn't be able to make it and that I was disappointed in my timing because I had the electrician lined up.....and they wound up hand delivering my fixtures that very same day on their way out of town.
