Repeatedly tried to sign in to pay bills a few minutes ago. Did the same thing yesterday and Saturday. No luck. It looks to us that BECU is getting rid of members that are not cash cows, in other words, members that don't maintain big balances. We will find another credit union or bank. BECU is regulated by the Federal Government as such BECU is in violation of their Federal Charter. The very young employees have no clue it is not smart to piss off the Federal Government. read more

What had happened to BECU? Customer "service" is down the toilet! I phone Sat morning to find out why my unemployment benefits haven't posted to my account yet since it shows as "paid" on the unemployment website. The female who answered was completely devoid of an ounce of emotion. "Yes Ma'am. No ma'am." She CAN see my name right in front of her on the screen. She expressed zero empathy for my situation, and when my screen froze while I was logging back in, I could sense her impatience. Meanwhile, I waited for her at the start of my call due to the same issue. Also, she asked for my SSN straight away. I chose to provide a different means of verification. Unprofessional! I think it's high time I move on to another bank or credit union after around two decades. read more

We got an auto loan through BECU and it has been an unmitigated disaster for the last 8 months. Incompetence at every level and none of our questions could be resolved at the branch level. Calls to the auto loan department directed us back to the branch who directed us back to the auto loan department. They couldn't file their own forms correctly or even manage a simple ACH transfer. The labyrinthine bureaucracy seems designed to thwart effective customer service. Despite multiple repeated attempts on our part to correct their errors, they are still unable to do anything. Easily the most laughably incompetent financial institution I've ever worked with. We will be transferring the loan as soon as we are able. read more

I've had bad experiences at BECU multiple times. I have pretty much lowered my expectations because there is always something. We decided to get a HELOC from here and it took over 2 months and the paperwork was lost, nobody called us for over a month, and I had to make 4 trips for various reasons. In the end, I didn't get the best rate either because my credit had improved and they wanted me to go through the entire process all over again. Firstly I would like to say the gentleman that greeted us was very friendly which is why I am giving the whole experience 2 stars instead of one. It is very important for people going to BECU for a HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit) to understand their process, as it is overall terrible. First how they value your home is only by a computer generated system which is a terrible way to get value of a property. I deal with giving clients values every day and a computer generated system is in no way accurate. This system does not take into account any upgrades or condition of the home. It only takes into account estimated market appreciation which may be fine for you, but will be lower than actual value 100% of the time. They even stated after the fact that it is very conservative which is not helpful. For instance we bought a home and put in over $100,000 in a remodel as the home was in rough shape when we bought it. The computer states it is only worth about 100k more than we paid for it which is actually 100k less than other computer generated estimates. Second what you don't know going into the credit union is the people that work there are more like order takers and have little to no experience with heloc loans. It is no fault to them and they do the best they can, but if I am dealing with my credit being pulled and applying for a loan I would like the person I am working with to be an expert in that area not someone that also helps people open checking and savings accounts and transfer funds, etc. I want them to know the ins and outs of the process and be a subject matter expert to help guide me as one would expect. This is just how BECU does their process. Third and probably most frustrating is even if you rightfully disagree with the value this computer program just spits out you can not get a true appraisal done by a real person who is a licensed appraiser. They state that whatever the computer says that is what they go with unless the square footage is wrong from what county records states. These computer generated systems are very inaccurate at giving true value of a home. You need a human eye and research to get accurate information. Computers can not see the overall condition of the home, community/neighborhood look and feel, current market conditions (they are always months behind what is actually going on. read more

Terrible, dishonest. I wanted to transfer my credit balance to BECU. I was honest about how much I owe, how much I make, the new house purchase and my credit score. Mark Nicholson told I would get definitely approved with a rate of 7.9 to 9.9...then he ran my credit and said ooops your rate would be 11.9. Then my application was DENIED by the underwriter!!! are you kidding me?? then he wrote me an email about how I should have waited more after purchasing house to run my credit again......that email was insulting in essence since I have disclosed my financial status at day one! will close my debit card with them. read more

My experience here has been similar to my experience at other, larger banks. Not terrible, but not impressive. Sometimes the clerk is nice, sometimes not. Sometimes the clerk is useful, sometimes the clerk is confused, rushed, or misleading. The location is good. The parking seems fine. The ATMs are nice, being inside. It would help though if they had a phone number. I accidentally left an item there and had the hardest time trying to talk to someone to check and see if they had it. Obviously, being able to call would help in many other situations. read more

My first time at BECU and was expecting to be greeted, but instead got rude comment from customer service representative. I walked in and someone was using a self-service machine. I saw several open tables with representatives sitting around and I approached one of them with two representatives. One of them said, " Did you not see the kiosks? You need to use the kiosks" I said, oh, I did not know that I needed to use it to open up a new account. Instantly I was stressed as it was going to put me behind for the day. The gal who helped me was MEG. She was amazing. So friendly and helpful. What is it about this CU that blows? They have good rates posted right on the front pages of their really nice website. They have a lot of cash machines around, and if you went down the list of services, they are very competitive. But I just don't like them. I've been a customer for a number of years now, purely for getting loans. I've had a few car loans and a heloc as well as a checking and savings account. Nothing special really... Here are my gripes: I fracking (any BSG fans out there?) HATE the "Express Service Center" concept. Basically these are cashless facilities with long lines and a few employees to answer your questions. Also they have a cash machine... were the employee will tell you go if you want to do any actual banking. I dunno, it just doesn't work for me. I either want full service or no service. I never feel comfortable at any branch I've been to. The customer treatment is so-so at best. I'm probably being generous. This store in particular feels exposed because it's in a Slaveway. I never feel like the employees really care about their jobs, the welfare of their company, or the needs of the customer. Another thing that sucks is the long account numbers. Why can't we have something that I can remember? Also, they have more fees than WECU... I'm just not a fan. At least it's not Bank Robbers of America though. read more

Live right above this bank it's easy access ATM. Good staff. Great location. Only bad thing is that for others i see that they have trouble parking. There is actually underground parking on the tipsy cow side for shopping and dine parking. It's free as well. Other than that I would pay them a visit if you bank with them. Or even if you're not. I just went into becu for the first time in my life, here at the Redmond location. I have heard almost nothing but great things about becu. Let me just say, they did not dissapoint. Everything good I have heard, all played right into my experience, it was better than I even had hoped for. I want to give a special thanks to Vanessa R. I can pretty confidently say, that I don't think I have ever received such superb customer service. She was absolutely amazing! So incredibly helpful. With a full lobby behind me, I didn't once feel like I was being rushed, or hurried out. She explained everything in such great detail for me. Helped me set up all of my online stuff right there on the spot, on her computer. Literally, I felt confident that I completely understood everything we went over, and couldn't have felt like I was in better hands. First my personal information was transmitted unsecurely... then if you want to make a deposit to your business account, you will be told to go to a completely different banking institution to deposit into your BECU account! Because BECU doesn't have tellers to handle finances in their "neighborhood financial centers" they have useless rude people who refer you to other banking institutions who do have tellers. This is a great location if you never want to find parking! We love BECU but there is a lack of on street and garage parking ALL THE TIME. I find myself going to the self service machine at Safeway instead and I am not alone. Somehow they need to figure out a way to make parking more accessible. Parking is nearly impossible unless you drive a tiny car that will fit in the parking garage. Once you finally find a spot and get into BECU you're "greeted" by a kiosk to check in. Then you sit in the waiting area (or stand if the 8 chairs are full) and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait. I'm not sure what happens next because so far I've been waiting here for 36 minutes and haven't talked to a single person. read more

If I could give them a zero I would. I am currently in the lobby waiting to make sure that their ATM machine didn't overcharge me. Now I have missed my appointment. They insisted that I get behind the three other people already waiting just to make sure that their machine didn't make a mistake. I came in for fast cash and because their machine malfunctioned now I missed an appointment. I asked a gal who wasn't helping someone if she could just look it up and she refused. When I told her that if I waited, it would be to close our business account she just shrugged. This is not the first time this location has screwed up: our first debit cards from this account were both useless due to a BECU employee error and we found this out after trying to use them abroad. Needless to say, I am now closing my account with Afra, the same lady who refused to just look earlier. If you get her, just ask for someone else. Not only does she lack any customer service, but so far in this account closing process she is proving incompetent. read more

The Redmond BECU branch has been really tough to work with. My husband and I now have a hard rule to drive to ANY OTHER branch for services because whenever we do so the experience is so much better. The Redmond member consultants seem inexperienced and act arrogant. I've worked with Mark and Afra and another rep (whose name that I can't remember) and they all gave me misinformation or acted like I wasn't worth their time. We have all of our accounts at BECU both business and personal. I recommend driving to a branch where they value you as a client and research their answers so your time is not wasted like mine has been. read more

Very helpful people! I lost my debit card last week Friday. I used it at a gas station and put it in my pocket and while my car was getting filled with gas, I was cleaning out my car and emptying trash in the trash can and in the process of doing so, my debit card fell. Fast forward 30 minutes later and I was at a Taco Time drive thru and didn't have my debit card to pay. I panicked and went into the BECU at the Safeway in Redmond and asked for help. In less than 5 minutes, my old debit card was deactivated, I was issued a new debit card AND they printed the new debit card at their branch so I was able to walk out of there with the new debit card in hand! The gal who helped me was really patient (even though I was panicked because I thought someone had drained all of my funds in the time I lost the card to the time that I talked to BECU) but she was able to look at my account history and see that no other transactions had transpired. She also told me that any unauthorized debit card transactions are covered by Mastercard so that I could dispute them if I had to and BECU would give me those funds back. BECU is the best. I recommend them to everyone I talk to. read more

Because during all the years I've been with BECU, I've never met any associate, like the one that 'helped' me today, that makes you feel that your business is not important and she doesn't want to make any effort for you. I just had a terrible experience with a "customer" service representative named Nicole... All I wanted to do was make a payment by phone and after waiting on hold for 20min to get transferred over for another 15min, Nicole told me I need to wait until one day after my payment was due in order for her to take my payment?? She said they aren't a payment processing facility and that's why she has to wait until it's one day late to process! (Why did they transfer me to her if she can't process my payment) This didn't make since to me so I asked to speak with a manager that could clarify! She said she would have one call me because all of the managers are in a meeting! Why is it so hard to make a payment here... and good luck making a payment online if you don't have a checking account here (don't get me started) read more

Parking has always been bad as it is a small garage with tiny spaces and huge support pillars everywhere. We went in today, and to find out that they validate by the BECU asking you your license plate number and she enters it in the computer. What?? I do not remember my plate number and I sure as **** was not going to walk back out to the car to get it. So, now every time I go here I have to remember to write down my plate number. How RIDICULOUS!!! If your going to do validate parking, then pay for a kiosk with tickets that come out - you know the old fashion way, instead of trying to be "high tech". Then the woman servicing us had the nerve to say that we could park in Redmond Town Center parking lot. - Really?? Well, maybe I don't want to walk that far in the rain. Get a clue BECU!! read more

tried to get unauthorized withdraw taken care urgently to literally buy groceries for family during this hard times with covid and got transferred multiple times on phone waiting for ever and the got transferred again only to get answer machine. they truly do not care about peoples problems and could care less to actually help someone who needed help. read more

BECU was only my "local" credit union for a couple of months before I picked up and moved out of the state rather quickly and unexpectedly. However, they are such a great bank that after over 4 years living in Colorado, I have yet to find a credit union based here, nor do I have any urgency to. I will stay with BECU since I still own a house in Washington, plus they have a co-op network of ATMs here where I can get cash or deposit checks. These guys used to only be available for Boeing employees but when they opened to all WA residences, many of my friends joined. I wish I hadn't waited so long! Their customer service is amazing. I've rarely had to call, but I've lost my card a few times as well as had a few errors from other merchants and the people I've spoken to on the phone at this branch have been truly amazing. They have reversed fees, whether my error or someone else's. They process credits before payments always, unlike most other banks, which is to the bank customer's benefit. I have a renter in Redmond who uses BECU to pay me electronically, and he goes into this branch if needed on occasion. I never worry that this bank is trying to screw me (or my renter) over or charge me needless fees. Plus, their savings account has an interest rate of 7% (cap of $500). read more
