Maddie Hatter Tea Shop & Cafe - Salad

Maddie Hatter Tea Shop & Cafe

Great server, whimsical ambiance. Not a huge place, but definitely good to go with a friend or…read moresmall group. The teas were pretty good, meals were solid, and the scones were delicious. Overall, a fun place to stop if you're into the theme. Other notes: I visited in early May and they either didn't have air conditioning or just hadn't turned it on yet...had to step out for a breather after drinking hot tea and soup haha. Bathroom was a single unisex one, same level as the rest of the shop, with maybe one small step up.

Visited Maddie Hatter Tea Shop Cafe in Erin, Ontario, this past weekend. The high tea was…read moredelicious: the curry, sweet potato and apple soup was divine (my hubby chose the salad instead of the soup and regretted it once he tried mine); and we really enjoyed all the sweet and savoury high tea offerings such as sandwiches (cucumber/egg salad/chicken salad with cranberries), red pepper jelly on herbed cream cheese (shaped as a Christmas tree), scones, and mini desserts (such a macarons, Dubai chocolate cake, pumpkin tart, cheesecake with raspberry sauce). They offer take-out boxes because, like us, you probably will not be able to finish everything. Service was warm and friendly. The setting was cozy and whimsically decorated. Only problem was they couldn't find our Open Table reservation when we arrived (we even had a texted confirmation), but they managed to set up a table pretty quickly.

Great location and customer service…read more Scones: Decent. A little sweet (which I like), served with whipped cream and strawberry jam. Fruit: The fruit was the best part of all our meals here. It was so fresh and sweet, which I thought would be difficult to find outside of California! I also enjoyed it with cottage cheese, which is not so common at breakfast spots in California unfortunately. Tea: The tea is enjoyable but pretty average when compared to bougier tea spots like The Bruce in Stratford. It's not clear how long I should let it steep for for optimal flavor. I preferred the Winter Dream green tea, which was warm and cozy, slightly sweet. I also preferred the McCrae over the Boathouse blend. The Boathouse blend was a little basic for me, and the McCrae had a slight sweetness that I enjoyed. High Tea: Average - a good price and pleasant experience, especially if the weather is nice enough to eat outside (and catch a bald eagle flying by!). My favorite dessert was the carrot cake cupcake. Ice Cream: Yes, ice cream and tea is definitely a good idea! The banana cream pie tastes like your classic Runts banana flavor (the original banana that got wiped out) and the black cherry has plenty of big cherry pieces. Great servings, and we loved that they served them in reusable bowls instead of disposable ones. Would definitely come again!

Ice cream for the family with a beautiful view of the river. Pleasant experience. Easy 5 stars.read more

This chain is starting to open up so many new locations as it became super popular this past year!…read moreI go back to Guelph occasionally to visit my family and so glad this place opened up. They recently opened up last week and they were already so busy when we came into the store at 9pm on a Sunday night. The location replaced the Popeyes on Woodlawn road. They have a variety of flavors with different types of syrups as well as jam filled donuts. The "puffs" remind me of a mixture between TimHortons Timbits for the look and funnel cake for the texture. The puffs are super light and airy and when you have them freshly made, it's super crisp and crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, so good! I've had it before but it wasn't as fresh but was still good. When I finally tried them fresh this weekend, it was addictive! We ordered a box of 50 and the price was decent for the amount of puffs we got (~little over $26). They also serve other menu items to go along with the puffs such as coffee, tea and milkshakes. They also carry other desserts such as ice cream and "tornadoes" which is similar to McFlurry or DQ Blizzard desserts. Since it will start to get warmer soon, I will definitely come back to try their cold items!

Went on a day trip to Elora and the sun was absolutely angry. After meandering around the beautiful…read moretown for half an hour, my body was begging for a cooldown. We spotted a cart selling Cold Cofee and I immediately gulped it down. I thought that would be enough but then I spotted a huge crowd around a store. Intrigued, I approached and noticed it was an Ice-cream shop. My foodie instincts kicked in. I immeditely stood in queue. I was lucky that by the time I decided, the crowd had dispersed a bit and my number came after a 5 minute wait. I scanned the menu on the glass window and ordered the large cup with 2 scoops: -Mango - Hazelnut Praline Paid around $9.50 with taxes and stepped away, only to notice that during our wait the queue had grown tremendously and still growing. Thanking my stars, i stepped away from the crowd and dug into the flavors. The mango was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet and had a bit of tang to it. It was more of a sorbet and had flavorsome resemblence to the real fruit. The Hazelnut Praline was creamy and on the sweeter side. The flavor had nice hazelnut tones but I'd have prefer a much deeper flavor, especially of praline. The two contrasting flavors made us enjoy each of them thoroughly, especially on a sunny day. To Foodies: There are a lot of places at Elora delling ice-creams and soft serves - we tried a couple. Of them all, this one was the best. They have lots of flavors and variety of items to satisfy your sweet cravings. Though some may find it a bit on the expensive side. To Management. Great service. Good ice-cream. Nice assortment of flavors.. A bit of queue management outside the shop will make the experience better. Overall, it was a delicious,soul-satisfying experience on a hot, sunny day. Family had strawberry which was good. We had Peanut Butter (Chocolate) Chip. Not sure what the base for the ice cream was, but it was less "creamy" and way overloaded with mini chocolate chips. My preference would have been reversed, more creamy peanut butter and less chocolate chips. There are other options that we would love to try. Definitely coming back when we are in town again. The place is a literal hole in the wall and the service was quick and friendly.
